CRONIC SERVICE AND RIP-OFF WORK

Like so many other people on these reviews, I contacted ERG because hot water was not working in my flat. I gave details of debit card (as requested before a visit would be arranged), with a minimum charge of £120 plus VAT - £150 in total. I was debited this amount, no contact was made with me (a tenant is in the flat) and nothing was done other than a reset, about 20 minutes as the tenant advised.
The hot water didn’t work again only several days later. On calling ERG I was eventually told this was over £550 plus VAT to repair, no further visit was made (although I was told it had been).
In short non-existent customer service, total rip-off and basic rate either permanently ridiculous or taking extreme advantage of the current pandemic situation. DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER THIS COMPANY AS MY EXPERIENCE WAS A COMPLETE DISASTER.

AVOID - Rip Off Merchants / Very unhappy with my experience

SEARCH on YOUTUBE for Rogue Traders/ERG BEFORE YOU BOOK!! Very unhappy with my experience. I asked for a boiler service at the home of a vulnerable tenant, I was explicit in asking for the engineer to call me when he attended the address, this did not happen. The boiler was playing up and not providing hot water on all occasions, the display clearly said SERVICE, and I requested the engineer to attend, carry out a full service along with a general assesment of the heating system. The engineer arrived 2 hours late and was on site around 20mins, the boiler was simply reset and NO service was carried out. No paperwork was left on site, and I was subsequently debited £150 for around 20min visit to the house. I contacted ERG again with my complaint, despite giving them opportunty to put this right, they have been very dismissive of both the service NOT being done, as well as not providing an explanation why the engineer did not calling me when on site. The complaint team has commented that a 'full investigation' of my query has been carried out and they have refused to even consider a partial refund of the £150 charge. I am now takng this up with the ombudsman. AVOID !!

WHAT A RIP OFF

WHAT A RIP OFF, these came up first on the search, maybe I should have checked reviews before ringing, but when you have an emergency you just want it sorting.
The woman said there would NOT be a call out charge just the price of the job. Was still waiting for e-mail receipt when I got my bank statement and £210 had been taken. The engineer was only at my address for 5 mins, he opened a valve, unstuck it, and went. WOULD NOT NOT NOT RECOMMEND this company

Absolute bunch of crooks

Absolute bunch of crooks. Avoid at all costs. They’re not real plumbers, just an admin go between. Wish I’d read the reviews before dealing with them. Cost me £90 for absolutely nothing and after many calls/emails was eventually blocked. STAY CLEAR!!!

In the house for maybe 3 minutes with…

In the house for maybe 3 minutes with an incredibly rude plumber - then returned the following day for 4 minutes. I was charged 170 pounds for this. Now - I am being chased by debt collectors (I've only just heard of this) as they apparently never received payment... i payed in full almost immediately after the invoice was received and have the bank transfer to prove it. Seriously a bunch of crooks who will lie and rip you off. Do not use under any circumstances.

Complete rip off

Complete rip off , not even in the house 15minutes and didn't even take the front off the boiler . Claimed they couldn't get the part ( although serial number for boiler on back of cover so how would they know!) Charged £150 for nothing . They shouldn't be allowed to operate . Just wish I"d read all the negative reviews first

Disgusting company

Avoid this company cancelled me on same day as due out. Even though booked 2 days before. We will sue them if they try and take money using the bank details they took.

Phonecall

The people in the call centre are unhelpful and extremely rude. I am so glad that we did not pursue with booking a plumber with them. We had all good intentions until the person on the phoned huffed and said 'so I have explained this'.
A very unprofessional tone.

Horrid Experience

Horrid experience. Not local plumbing specialists, just a call centre in Southend that totally mislead you on their call out fee, don't complete the job, and then dip into your bank account as much as they please whilst hiding behind their T&C's.

This company was featured on Rogue Traders in 2018 and still operates with the same unethical practices today.

All l can say is fo not use this…

All l can say is fo not use this company. They basically use local independent plumbers to call to your home and charge you £174 inclusive of Vat for the first hours work, which was not fully explained. You would be far better contacting a local independent firm to conduct the work. I did complain to there office about but they simply were not interested. There only interest wast raking the payments from your account. The best of it was the problem could not be fixed with the full payment still taken. The plumber sent did try using a plunger to unblock with no success (25mins at my home) and it was recommended that I contact Scottish Water. I did and they came out with all the correct equipment and sorted the blockage within 15mins.
I will never use ERG again.

Hour before deadline of 1800

Hour before deadline of 1800, phone call from the company to say their engineer would not be calling on the day arranged- he had apparently damaged his knee- 'but he can come tomorrow'(I'd heard that one before!) Next day, second phone call from company informing me that engineer could not make it that day 'but he can come tomorrow' i.e. two days after initial booking. Not very clever when you have leaks. Spoke to 3 different people from their office. All sounds very dodgy & cannot understand why they need all your credit card details prior to taking booking. Avoid at all costs as the many other negative reviews on this site advise.

Very very bad

Engineer came out fairly quickly - charged me £150 to diagnose the problem then did not receive a quote for several days which in the end was £570.
I managed to get a British Gas engineer to visit in the meantime who told me the part needed was £8 + 20 minutes to fit.
Not happy - this company are RIP OFF merchants

SCAM ALERT!!!!

Other reviewers on here have said it all. I don't have anything more to add. These people are villains and are cunningly using multiple websites to advertise "local" trades people. They will rip you off and you will struggle to get any sort of refund.

Avoid at all costs

Terrible terrible service

My boiler broke down on Saturday night somebody came round to fix it but said it needed a new part they disappeared I have not heard anything from them sincem it is now Monday night my house is freezing and I have had zero communication from them.

They have now taken the £185 plus VAT for doing nothing they didn't even have the decency to wait until the job is sorted.

You must avoid this company at all costs my advice to anyone whose heating is broken is to sit it out overnight and call a recognised plumber in the morning

Avoid scammers

I am so angry This joke of a company took £150.00 out of my bank without authorisation,2 weeks after sending out an electrician instead of a plumber, when the fault was clearly explained to them.I got someone else to fix and they still took the payment HOW DARE THEY. I was then put through to 1 of their online chats a waste of time as are they. My bank has now sorted and refunded I shouldnt of had this aggravation on new years day had I not realised my mortgage payment would have bounced,Had I wanted an electrician I wouldnt of called a plumbing company telling them i needed a honeywell flow valve replaced.
Avoid this company at any cost there are far more reliable and honest company's out there!!

I am unable to leave a zero star rating…

I am unable to leave a zero star rating which is being very generous as it should offer minus options as this company are terrible. I called them after an Internet search brought them up and bitterly regret I didn't read further into them as I have lost £198 to be left with a still dripping tap loosely secured masking tape, and a quote from their "further works department" wanting another £246 to return to fix the problem which the engineer said when here was a "relatively quick fix" but he had not got the necessary parts.

Please learn from my expensive mistake and avoid this shocking firm like the plague!

ERG claims they sub-contract the plumbers but does not take the responsibility of their plumbers!

I had a plumber who was sent by ERG to fix an electric storage heater. The plumber, over the phone, knew exactly what needed to be repaired and agreed for an hour labour and the cost of the part. On that basis he called in briefly and switched on the boost until the heating element was replaced. To my surprise ERG took £150 for an hour labour charge from my credit card and gave a second quote of £150 for another one hour labour plus the cost of the parts. The plumber from Greener Solutions in Wrexham was dishonest saying one thing to me and another to ERG. When I complained to ERG they said they were not responsible for the action of the plumber and refused to refund. Here I ended up paying £150 just to turn the boost switch on the wall.
ERG should not use doggy plumbers to send to customers and when things go wrong they should take responsibility. If not, where does the customer stand?
