NEVER USE ERG UNLESS YOU WANT TO GIVE MONEY AWAY

I wish I’d have seen these reviews before I rang them....
I called these as my boiler stopped working for both hot water and heating in the middle of December.
They took my card details immediately and told me this covered the emergency call out and the first hour of labour.
The so called engineer turned up the next day in a car and not looking like he had a clue. His toolbox was so small I thought he’d brought sandwiches. I told him the fault code and what it referred to (A temperature sensor). He sat by my boiler for 20 mins, spending 15 of them googling on his phone. He then left saying he had to order parts. After a further 3 days in the cold and no hot water, I researched myself and ordered a £3.45 sensor off eBay and changed it myself in under 3 minutes. Now works perfectly. Still not heard from the engineer 3 weeks later. And ERG won’t refund saying they sent an engineer... they may as well have sent the milkman.....

Happy Xmas to you, too, ERG

ERG Facilities fitted a new mixer shower for my 96 year old mother in August 2019. After normal use, four months later it jammed. They now dispute that they are liable to repair it. They are willing to leave a 96 year old widow who suffers from incontinence (and who cannot use a bath) without a shower for weeks, and over Xmas. They seem to think the Supply of Goods & Services Act 1982 does not apply to them, relying on their alleged "30 day workmanship guarantee", but they are wrong.

Under the Supply of Goods & Services Act 1982, a contractor such as ERG who executes work is strictly liable for defects in components fitted by them. They are not exonerated by showing that the components were supplied by a reputable manufacturer, or by the terms of their alleged guarantee. Happy Xmas to you, too, ERG Facilities.

I called ERG to ask for there help in…

I called ERG to ask for there help in repairing my boiler ,when l rang l was informed that It would cost me £120 for Labour, per hour, and was told they would come between 9am to 5 pm the next day ( 24 hr coverage haha ) they rang me the next day that they couldn’t make 5pm but would be with me before 7pm so what a waste of a day waiting, the man turned up at 5.45 pm approximately ,he took the front of the boiler off turned the water on and off a few times then said that it could be one of two things either the front part was not working or another part he thought it could be ,the first part could cost around £200 and if it was the other part £15 .he was not in my house 30 minutes ,he left saying he would be in touch the next day ,but all l got was an invoice for £150 ,when l phoned to say why was the bill that high l was told that this was the payment they needed as they say it’s standard regardless of how long they are in the house ,when l stated that l was told £120 per hour labour the reply was that they never said that ,l did say l was not told that ,there reply was they would check on their recorded phone call and it would take up to 48 hours ,which shocked me ,in this day and age l do not believe that ,but l never got that call back ,l am now looking at going to the trading standards to find if they can charge this price for not doing the job and for the time they were at my home. I would not recommend this company to even my worst enemy, and ask people to take care .

Untrustworthy, charge you for work not done!

Do not use this company!

Had a leaky hot water tank. Leak was coming through ceiling light! Called ERG after they took my credit card details they sent engineer out, who arrived with minimal tools. He told me he had fixed leak by draining and isolating tank. Told me I was unable to have hot water OR heating (in the middle of winter...freezing cold) Leak retuned after a couple of hours! Rang engineer who refused to believe leak was coming from water tank and he may need to charge me if came out again! Informed me I needed a new water tank and the supplier did not have stock, ERG quoted me £2000 + VAT to do the work required.

Found another plumbing company who not only managed to get new water tank the following day but fitted it too (at a much cheaper cost than ERG quoted). PLUS they had to drain the hot water tank which the ERG engineer had supposed to and said he had done and charged me for. They also informed me I could have still had heating because it is a separate system from the hot water tank (ERG said I could not use hot water or heating).

I wish I had read the reviews prior to calling them. However, when you have water dripping down from an electrical light fitting in the ceiling and you had already tried to contact various plumbers who were unavailable or their phone was going on voicemail you are pretty desperate and relieved when someone says they are available to send some out to fix within a few hours!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Same story as all others on here. Promised to be out by 4pm Saturday. Turned up midday Monday. no heat & we have a 14 week old baby!! Given quote (double that of everyone else) & told 30 days to provide instructions, if not going with their quote we are liable for the £174 call out fee. Asked to speak with a manager, no one called & then they took the call out fee. When called back said they had spoken with me & I told them we were not proceeding (this didn’t happen). Wife fuming calls up to complain & gets put on hold for over 35 mins & was told they thought she hung up... FINALLY, they kindly said they were happy to do our work for the £425 quote PLUS the £174 call out on top!!! O . M. G.... Avoid at all costs. I would rather live in the Antarctic in my shorts, then call this company again.

We have worked for this company and…

We have worked for this company and they are not paying the engineers. Phoned today to try and get payment for invoices that are over 3 months old, which customers will have already paid, but they are not issuing payments. We have asked to be taken off their engineers list and not to be contacted again for any further work, I don't think we will get paid, so if you work for them please pass this information on.

Emergency Service Experience For a Vulnerable Person

I contacted ERG yesterday to arrange an emergency response for a vulnerable relative experiencing a home emergency.

I explained to the customer service advisor, Sophie, that my elderly father had an escape of water from the bathroom in his bungalow. I also evplained that my father is receiving end of life care and that the location of the bathroom, just across the hall from his bedroom, was a risk to some of the medical equipment required for his care.
I was quoted £145 for an emergency response within 90 minutes or £125 for none urgent attendence.

Given the nature of the problem and the assured rapid response, I opted for the higher charge and provided my debit card details which are required up front. I recall there was likely some parts provision as part of the deal though cannot remember the precise details, nor whether the price included VAT.

2 hours later, the plumber had not arrived and we had heard nothing more from the company so I called again to request an ETA. Following a holding time of approximately 10 - 15 minutes, an unapologetic customer service advisor informed me that an engineer had not been dispatched after all, despite having informed ERG that my father was genuinely a vulnerable person whose water could not be turned off because this would also affect his central heating. No explanation, nor apology was offered, although they did kindly offer to knock £20 off the call out charge and attend within 4 hours, the regular price for a call out.

That's a genuine account of my old Dad's experence too, we had to call another plumber out from a neighbouring town who was able to attend at short notice, isolate the problem overnight, and return first call this morning with a new part to provide a permanent fix at a considerable saving. He also left his personal contact details and guaranteed a priority out of hours response if he has any more trouble.

I'll let you make your own minds up about ERG, but I wouldn't touch 'em again with a barge pole. Utterly shameless and the service falings are simply unacceptable.

Appalling company

Appalling company. Desperate job was booked with them and was told it would be between 2 and 5pm that day. Cancelled visiting sons Christmas fair to stay in, only for no one to attend. Called the company to see where the engineer was, to be told they couldn’t get hold of the engineer so would call me back in 10 mins. 40 mins later I called back with no one answering the phone for 20 mins. Avoid at all costs. Now going to contact my credit card company to block the money as I don’t trust them at all.

Avoid

Everyone's nightmare, middle of winter and the boiler packs up at 6pm on a Tuesday night. Find ERG on the web, phone them - they pick up instantly - and they promise an engineer within 3 hours. It's expensive but they're the only ones who can meet that timescale.

2 and a half hours later it's "sorry, all our engineers are busy, it'll be tomorrow morning first thing". Tomorrow morning after 10 minutes on hold it's "between 8 and 12". Then it's "oh, sorry, our engineer has had to hand over his jobs, it'll be between 12 and 5". Two hours later it's "oh, now it'll be Friday". No apology, no discount on their expensive rates, and tried to claim that there were no heating engineers at all in the area.

Do what I did instead: phone someone else, they'll be there within 2 hours not 60, and you won't have to deal with these people.

Absolutely useless

Absolutely useless. We booked these guys to come in to fit a cooker and it was a no show. Rang to find out what was going on. Took half an hour on the phone to get an answer. When they did pick up Customer services were short and sharp. We tried to ring again to cancel and it took over thirty minutes on the phone waiting for someone to pick up. Totally useless.

Robbing basta*ds

They are not locally based at all. They send an engineer to you for £150, without any work being done. No plumber charges this much. £150 wasn’t the price they quoted me on the phone either. Absolutely terrible company. Criminal in fact! AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!

Very shady company

Very shady company, (also known as erg gas).Called them on a Thursday and was told they would turn up early Friday morning. Received a phone call Friday morning saying the engineer was running a bit late and will be with you early Monday morning. RUNNING A BIT LATE! 3 days really? That is not a bit late. When the cowboy finally arrived he looked at the cupboard for 30 second and said "BIG PROBLEM". I'm not sure that just looking into a cupboard is a respected diagnostic technique. After this very in-depth investigation he told me I needed 4 parts replacing. He left saying he will call me with a quote. After the moron had left I called the company to air my concerns who transferred me to the complaints department who were dismissive to say the least. Checked my bank account hours later and they are trying to charge me £150 for this expert diagnosis and still no closer to resolving my "BIG PROBLEM". AVOID THESE GUYS AT ALL COST.

The Boris Johnson of plumbers, all promises and no substance

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY All promises and seem very professional initially. Arranged for an engineer to come out today 2/12/19, to fit a new radiator in our bathroom. We purchased the radiator ourselves along with the valve as advised, and waited for the call that was promised half an hour before the arrival, which was to be by 5pm. Waited until 5 minutes to 5, having not heard anything, to be told they couldn't come today and were trying to arrange for the next day. I advised that as 90% of their reviews were bad, I would cancel and as calls are recorded, Jordan agreed to delete my card details. She has also promised to email me tomorrow by noon, to confirm this. What a shower, or it would be if they actually could fit one.
