Guidance and care every step of the way

Incredibly easy and straightforward process during a difficult time. I had the pleasure of being advised by Therese (T) who was wonderfully supportive, knowledgable and thoughtful beyond words. The funeral would not have been possible without her guidance and her team - me and my mother are incredibly grateful. I cannot recommend Fenix funerals enough; if you are looking for comfort and the security knowing your loved one will be looked after and respected this is more than the team for you.

Direct cremation service

I had to arrange a direct cremation from overseas, and chose Fenix after a little online research. From initial contact, right through the process, Claire talked me through everything, kept me fully updated and was professional and courteous throughout. I highly recommend Fenix for this service.

From beginning to finish with Lesley C

From beginning to finish Lesley C, has been such an amazing person to work with. She has been reliable, reassuring and empathetic. She made us feel at ease to ask even the silliest of questions without feeling judged as this process was new to us. Her warmth assured me that our loved one was going to be cared for and indeed he was well taken care of which was such a relief!

Planning a funeral is an overwhelming experience but with the help of Lesley C the experience of overwhelmingness was contained. Thank you very
much Lesley (Fenix) for your care and support during this difficult time for my family.

Compassionate and professional

My sister has chosen Fenix to organise her funeral when she received a terminal cancer diagnosis. Therese Walker was amazing throughout the process, guiding and supporting us through each step with kindness, empathy and an awareness of when we needed more support or sometimes space to manage our feelings alongside the practical tasks that required our consideration and decisions. She guided us with care, knowledge and organisation that always felt genuine.
Please accept my sincere gratitude for your sensitivity, compassion, and professionalism during this journey. I felt that the funeral was as my sister would have wished in in every detail, and the guidance that we received made an overwhelming situation feel safer and more manageable. Each detail was handled with dignity and respect. I would not hesitate to recommend Fenix.

Thank you

Dear Claire
I am writing to express our sincere gratitude for the care, compassion, and professionalism you showed during such a difficult time for our family.

Your personal attention and thoughtful guidance made an overwhelming situation feel far more manageable. We deeply appreciated the way you listened to our wishes and ensured that every detail was handled with dignity and respect. We are particularly grateful for the gentleman who delivered Brian’s ashes and took the time to speak to my Mom this extra personal touch was greatly appreciated.

Please accept our heartfelt thanks for everything you have done.

Great service

Great service, delivered with empathy, understanding and sensitivity from beginning to end. Our designated funeral advisor Lesley was an absolute gem - she was like a friend who understood what we were all going through as a family. We really felt supported and comforted at a very difficult time. I felt like my hand was held as I was gently walked through the process. I am truly grateful for the service we received as a family. I would highly recommend Fenix funerals, a professional service delivered with sensitivity and a loving touch!

A stress free made to measure service

I must say that it was the funeral side I had initial dreaded but Claire of Fenix Funerals made it the simplest, least stressful of all the post death tasks that need to be completed. Always there when I needed her. Was able to offer a service that fitted our family needs. So very understanding of everyone’s, sometimes rather quirky, wishes. I thoroughly recommend Fenix Funerals

Compassion and Professionalism

After the sudden passing of my Mother, we chose Fenix Funerals under time pressure and quite honestly, at random. Looking back, I am profoundly grateful that we did.
Therese Walker was extraordinary from beginning to end. I was organising everything from the United States, which could easily have complicated matters, but she made the distance irrelevant. She called me internationally at her own expense, guided me patiently through every step of the process, and clearly explained what to expect so that I could prepare myself both practically and emotionally.
Her compassion was genuine and deeply felt. At a time when everything felt heavy and overwhelming, she remained calm, understanding, and reassuring. Her professionalism was impeccable, every detail was handled efficiently and respectfully. But it was her humanity that truly stood out.
Therese followed everything through to the very end and even enquired about my wellbeing afterwards.
That level of care goes far beyond duty, it speaks of character.
If angels do exist, Therese Walker is certainly one of them. She is an absolute credit to her profession and to Fenix Funerals.
I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Grandad's Funeral

We wanted to thank Fenix but also share our story. This was my first time planning a funeral and I feel we could have been guided more.

The day my grandfather passed, we called Fenix and asked for a collection. This call originally started off as helpful but I do think we could have been explained the process of registering the death etc at this point. We quickly realised the collection would be out of hours and so agreed to pay the charge. The collection didn't take place until 12.30am when my grandfather had passed before 12pm as there were other priorities for the collectors. This was upsetting, as in our religion, we cannot eat until the deceased loved one has been collected. It was also emotionally distressing. We were surprised that there were no notes passed on between the daytime team and out of hours team. However, the team who collected my grandad and journeyed him to the rest home were empathethic and we do not hold them at fault.

We were then assigned a funeral arranger. She was empathethic, though in the initial days we did feel that there was not enough guidance. There were no response to my emails due to the New Year break which though understandable, still could have communicated better. I eventually managed to speak to someone from the team who was very helpful with guiding us with paperwork and we managed to get this sorted. However, we could have had an earlier cremation date if this had all been properly guided to us in the beginning.

Our funeral arranger for the next week or so was very accomodating after this and any requests we had or anything we had missed, was discussed and sorted promptly. Unfortunately, 2 days before the funeral I thought it best to clarify what the day will look like and realised there had been a miscommunication on both sides. This I feel could have been avoided if everything had been discussed in more detail in the initial days. I just feel it was very much figuring things out by ourselves rather than the professionals fully working with us. I also feel our arranger could have offered more emotional support at this point as I was panicking feeling like nothing in this funeral was going the way I had thought and I felt that I had let my loved ones down. When you are already grieving someone so close to you, this is a lot to take in. Our arranger did eventually try to sort this out on the morning of the funeral which I was grateful for but sadly our request couldn't be put through due to short notice. We believe that this should be a standard of a cremation to allow some loved ones to be present and we didn't get this.

On reflection and for the future, a funeral director more accustomed to Indian and Hindu traditions will likely be better for us.

The service itself was lovely and despite it all, we are grateful that Fenix made it possible but we are disappointed that things weren't discussed openly without us taking the initiative.

Reply from Fenix Funerals

Thank you for sharing a thoughtful and honest reflection during what must have been an incredibly difficult time for you and your family. We’re deeply sorry for your loss, and we truly appreciate that you took the time to acknowledge the parts of the service that felt supportive, even while navigating grief.

First and foremost, we want to apologise sincerely for the distress caused by the delayed collection and apologise that communication and guidance was lacking in the early days. We understand how important timely collection is in your faith, and that the prolonged wait—combined with a lack of coordination between our daytime and out-of-hours teams—caused additional emotional strain at a moment when you deserved care and clarity.

We will always try to accommodate last minute requests, but these are not always feasible. We would also aim for the earliest funeral date a family requested as long as there was availability. However, during the busy period in the run up to Christmas & New Year, the crematorium slots are very limited.

We are pleased, however, that the Funeral Arranger was able to help you with paperwork and adjustments. And we are also glad to hear that the service itself was meaningful.
We take on board your comments and we are committed to doing better - being more forthcoming with information, offering more detailed guidance and emphatic support, as well as being more sympathetic to families with different cultural backgrounds.

Thank you again for recognising our team’s empathy and for acknowledging that the service itself was lovely. We are grateful for your honesty, and we wish you and your family comfort and peace as you remember your grandfather.

Warm regards

Sanjeevi

Caring and professional funeral service

Fenix effectively held my hand through the process of what to do when someone passes. This was the first time I had lost someone close to me (my gran) and all the logistics fell on me. My gran passed away at home and from the first call to collect gran Fenix were so kind, considerate and patient with me as I fumbled trying to figure out what to do while emotionally very sensitive. It helped that they're general phonelines were open 24/7 if we had any questions. The staff were so respectful to not only me and my family but to my gran too. The funeral planning, again nothing had been pre-planned while gran was alive so it all had to be figured out, and Liz was truly wonderful. Gran's passing was a day before Christmas Eve and we wanted a funeral the following week, but that meant we were dealing with all the bank holidays running up to New Years day and many services closed. Liz dealt with this with such care and clarity, she made it all happen in one afternoon. The amount of work Liz did in one day was quite something. All the while making sure I was ok throughout. All costs were laid out clearly and any changes we made to fit our budget were easily done with no pressure or upsell attempts. In addition I was able to contact Liz directly and was available for any and all queries I had. On the day of the funeral, the service was excellent. Every member of staff that day, especially the pall bearers, showed gran, gran's family and all funeral attendees such respect, politeness and care, it made a very difficult day that much better. To have given gran such a respectful and well run send off was lovely and it was thanks to Fenix. I highly recommend them should you need excellent service.

Despite my being in Australia

Despite my being in Australia, Lesley from Fenix kept me informed and up to date with my Dads open cremation.
Any questions were answered and Lesley even phoned me in Australia.
My Dads ashes were sent from the UK to Australia with all relevant documents enabling a smooth pass through Australia’s strict biosecurity system. Because of this I was able to collect Dads ashes
two hours of their arrival.
Lesley’s guidance and caring was a great help during a very difficult time. Very grateful to Lesley and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Fenix.

Efficient, Friendly, Professional, Supportive and Hassel Free

Fenix are a great company and were able to guide and support me during an extremely difficult time with time pressures.
From the first phone call to the ceremony, Fenix were very response, professional and helped deliver a service in two weeks.
I would highly recommend Fenix to anyone needing their services.
From connecting me to the best Celebrant to the Undertaker Company Harrisons, their service was faultless.
I continue to receive positive feedback about the service and ceremony from family and friends.
Thank you Fenix - it is truly appreciated.

Highly recommended

Fenix were a huge support in guiding me through organising a budget funeral. Nothing about the day nor the service I received felt 'budget'. Maria, the celebrant, was a huge support to me and gave great advice; everyone mentioned how well she led the service too. Thank you Fenix.
