Stay away-once a very loyal customer customer

I HAD been a very happy and loyal customer since 2017, boasting about good service, good price and coverage. That changed recently when my Pixel phone completely died without warning after their latest update. Despite having paid for replacement coverage for years, which they determined was eligible for, the customer service was so bad it left me without a phone for 5+ days, which forced me to change carriers due to a work trip and need for immediate phone. Not only did replacement get shipped to the wrong address and told repeatedly it was correct on the back end, every follow up conversation i had afterwards was wrong (we are talking hours of my time as they shuffled me around from specialist after specialist). Months later, am still battling to have them credit the deductible they charged me for the botched phone i had to just return. The experience is beyond disgusting, unethical and worse than any i have experienced. If they had just shipped me a new phone over night and got me up and running, taken care of returns after this would have saved hours of time and i would have remained a slightly bugged customer...instead, i spent hundreds more just to get going again and switched companies and would never go back or refer again. The replacement phone wasn't even new, it was refurbished. Stay away from Google Fi.

Good Price, Good Cell Service, Bad Customer Service

Look, the service itself is good. I don't really have an issue with dropped calls or anything like that, and I usually have a pretty good signal. Overall, I'm happy with the service and the options we have. It's affordable and works well most of the time. But lord help you if you need to reach out to customer service.

For one, the reps clearly copy and paste from a script, which wouldn't be an issue if that script wasn't so incredibly limited. Honestly, I don't even know what the point of their chat and email options are because the person you chat with can almost never fix your problem and you end up jumping through hoops and waiting and waiting and waiting for a higher-up to address the issue. (And, by the way, you seem to have more luck getting someone to actually address and fix the problem if you're male. I've tested this multiple times and they always respond quicker and more efficiently when my "husband" is the one reaching out.)

Once you finally find a solution to your problem, I hope you're ready to pay a bunch of ridiculous fees. It doesn't matter that your phone is under warranty and you pay extra ever month for additional coverage. They will squeeze you for every penny they can. Sometimes they tell you about the fees and other times you're hopping back on the chat to figure out why the hell you suddenly being charged an extra $100 (or more).

So, to sum up:
Price: Good
Cell Service: Good
Customer Service: Bad
Overcharging: BAD

Google Fi is a SCAM

This company takes part in illegal billing practices. This company agreed to certain services and financing. After receiving the phones we were hit with unknown charges. When calling in the representatives were unable to explain these charges but insisted we owed them. After that call our service was shut off. We called again to learn why this had happened. We were told our service was canceled until we paid an exuberant amount of money. We foolishly paid it. Once paid we still had no service. We called again, and again we were offered no information and no assistance AND we were told in order to regain service we would have to PAY AGAIN. There was no explanation as to where over 700 dollars went. This company is showing that they are a scam and I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau promptly. DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH GOOGLE FI THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY AND HOLD YOUR CREDIT AND YOUR PHONE NUMBER HOSTAGE.

Worst Customer Service Experience - Do not switch to Google Fi

As others have said, customer service is by far the worst I have ever come across. No one can hear me when I make calls and I have provided their engineering team with timestamps on several occasions and they have told me multiple times it's not what they need. Sadly, my husband has had better service when speaking with someone so maybe it's because I am a woman that they are so disrespectful and unhelpful. Will be switching carriers - this is my first negative review of anything in my life.

Customer service was terrible

Customer service was terrible. The copy and paste the website answers but don't answer you problem. Dropped roaming data but was told could still text and call and then they dropped the whole group.
When asked why the only response was violation of terms of service when asked what terms no response.
Call quality was terrible. Phone would continue to ring even after the other person answered. You could only hear every 5th word and they can't hear you.
When asking customer service they just said sorry working on towers..... never got fixed in 5 months.
Do not join!!! Biggest headache ever. Wouldn't use even if it was free!!

Helps to Victimize People

This company is the work of the devil. Our phone number was stolen, my husband's identity taken. The thief put the number on Google Fi and the worker my husband spoke to said they were okay supporting the thief because we didn't have the thief's email. Since the email on the account was a random thief email as my husband has stopped ours and apparently that's the only way your workers can access anything. But they keep trying to open things under his number. We have blocked off what we can - but Google Fi won't release our number that's been ours for over 20 years because the thieves all know Google loves to support evil. They literally have a staff member that said they don't care as long as the email is correct. Phone companies make it easy to steal your phone number in minutes overnight (which is what happened to us) but won't give it back for weeks because Google Fi is the primo choice for these villians. Google: we help bad people do bad things to good people.

Never left a 1-star review before

Never left a 1-star review before. Purchased two lines through Google Fi in January. Was a mess getting the phones activated. One day in mid-February, I lost service all of a sudden. I contacted the Fi team, no resolution. Wasted a lot of time back and forth with the Fi team trying to resolve the issue. Any time I followed up via email I would receive an automated response. Ended up fixing the issue myself after being without service for 3 weeks. I do not recommend switching over to Google Fi. If you have issues, their team is of zero help unfortunately.

Terrible everything

Terrible company! Happened 2x already. I went abroad, came back, and wanted to restart the plan-- take days, if not weeks of going around in circles with their customer service. Specialists can only email you (and without reception, it's hard to get emails. . .). I have a Pixel, so there is no cross-company issues. Caused me financial losses.
Fuming!! (Last time when the service didn't work for a week they gave me a whopping 2 days worth of compensation- -which was worth absolutely NOTHING to me). I missed meetings and more because of this outage. I had to 'borrow' a phone for a week while they did nothing.

Customer service sucks

Customer service sucks. It's difficult to reach someone. They're not very knowledgeable about the service or plans. They're not flexible with billing/payment. I asked for ONE EXTENSION for 2 additional days to pay my bill due to my bi-weekly pay schedule (my paycheck would hit my account 2 days after it was set for suspension). I called 2 days prior to suspension date and I was told that I didn't have a valid reason for an extension. What the heck? I have 2 phone lines, been with Google Fi over a year and this is the crappy customer service they provide. I'll be taking my business back to Metro PCS where I should've stayed. Never had any issues with Metro.

I had a friend from Germany come visit…

I had a friend from Germany come visit and I took him to get a pre paid sim card and was told Google Fi would work at best buy. When I tried setting it up for my friend we had trouble so I called support. Never once was I told Google Fi wasn't compatible with the phone. We thought it was working until the next day could get any service. I called support back and had to cancel my service with Google Fi but I would have to wait for 3 months for the final bill to get the credit and would have to call back then. I asked to speak with a supervisor 4 times and was told by customer support they would tell me the same and there was no point to speak to a supervisor. He finally said he would get a supervisor but after waiting on hold for more than 5 minutes he came back and said he didn't have a supervisor. I told him you have to have a supervisor on staff and I want to speak to one he put me on hold again. I am writing this review as I am on hold still waiting 20 minutes for a supervisor to speak with me. This is very unprofessional and I wouldn't recommend Google Fi to anyone.

Terrible service, crayfishing and overall disaster

I can't connect my hotspot to a simple Roku device. It worked great for 2 weeks now nothing. Support sent me a "novel" in order to detect the bug. Still doesn't work and now they are charging me full price on a phone I chose during a holiday sale. Worst service and plan and phone ever!

ordered a replacement device for my phone that has broken. They said Id get it next day air shipped. It took a week for them to deliver it to the WRONG ADDRESS. AGAIN. I had this happen like 2 years back and i shouldve left then. Both times I gave the correct address. TWICE. They sent it this time to an address I havent used in forever. Its not listed on my account nor is it the one I gave them. Now I get to hear again "tHiS hAs BeEn eScAlAteD" twenty times before i get anything fixed. Probably another 2 weeks before I get a phone again. Fantastic. After this is all over Im switching phone companies. Their customer service is garbage.

Pixel 7 Pro Malfunctioning

If I could give the Google Pixel 7 Pro I received zero stars I would, but that is not an option so I’m giving it a 1 star review. I have had my brand new phone for 3 months. It has already malfunctioned and no longer works properly. The screen, most of the time is completely black and when, by chance it wants to work, it is constantly flashing with lines through it, or the screen is two toned and the touch screen doesn’t work. The phone itself gets incredibly hot and most of the time when plugged in to charge vibrates in a rhythm repeatedly. When I called customer service I was instructed to reboot the phone to see if that fixed the problem. When it didn’t they offered to send me a new one. My husband is in the United States Military, we are currently stationed on military orders in Germany. When I gave my address I was informed that Google could not send me a phone because we lived outside the United States. The fact that Google Fi is part of Google, a world wide entity, yet I can’t get a replacement phone out of the United States is absurd! They agreed to send my phone to my mother, in the United States, who then had to pay $250 out of pocket to mail it to me. Customer service informed me that they would be putting a hold of the price of my phone ($899) on my bank account. I told them I was worried that I would get charged that price because it would take so long to get my phone and get my malfunctioning phone back to them. They assured me that I would not be charged for the phone no matter how long it took to get the malfunctioned phone back. I have since received an email stating that if they don’t get my phone back by January 4th, they will charge me the full amount. I repeatedly asked the customer service representative about this and they repeatedly told me I would not get charged. Not only am I not able to use my phone for things as simple as phone calls but I also can’t use the Gps, which I completely depend on while living in a foreign country where its first language is not english. I don’t know if you have ever gotten lost in a completely unknown area with no help, it is terrifying. This whole situation has left me emotionally drained and distressed. Being part of the Google company, you should be able to handle situations like this with ease and be more willing to help. Had I known this was going to happen I would have never unwisely splurged on the new phone and kept my Pixel 4 XL which seems to have been made better. Do better Google Fi!
