Negligence Caused Missed Destination and Financial Loss
I was scheduled for direct travel from Copenhagen to Bremen on a bus whose final destination was Ulm. I deliberately chose this direct trip to avoid any transfers. During the stop in Hamburg, I got off the bus briefly to get some fresh air, staying close to it the entire time. About ten minutes later, I returned, and my QR code was scanned by a FlixBus operator, who allowed me to re-board. All announcements on the bus had been made only in German. Assuming that an important announcement, such as a bus change, would also be made in English on an international trip operated by a company providing international services, I had no reason to suspect anything. My QR code was scanned again without any warning. The FlixBus application on my phone also showed no notification regarding any required bus change. When I realized the journey was taking longer than expected, I checked Google Maps and discovered we were heading in the opposite direction of Bremen. After asking another passenger, I learned that the bus was going to Berlin. Because all announcements were only in German, no written or verbal warning in English was provided, and no warning was given when my QR code was rescanned in Hamburg (by the driver who, as I later realized, was taking us to Berlin), I ended up late at night, against my will, in Berlin without any hotel reservation. As a result of your company’s inadequate information and your staff’s mistake, I experienced significant stress, discomfort, exhaustion, loss of trust, and financial loss. I lost my non-refundable hotel reservation in Bremen, and my FlixBus ticket for the Bremen–Groningen trip scheduled for July 22 was also wasted. I already wrote a complain and request letter to your company but have not received an answer yet.
Flixbus abusing delay policy.
This year I've taken a flixbus twice. Both times the same thing happened where the bus stops in some random parking lot to kick everyone out and tells them to wait for another bus. This process takes at least an hour. This is a purposly premeditated delay of about 1-1.5 hours. The flixbus policy states that you can make a claim if the delay exceeds 2 hours so they are sneakily abusing this policy. On top of this being highly unpolite and customer unfriendly, people also have to move all their luggage and the one time a person in a wheelchair didn't get any support, so that the customer on the bus had to assist him. Truly a shitty and devious company...
The bus was so dirty
The bus was so dirty! Clean your buses more often no hygene broken AC The driver didn't know language had to talk like a gorrila! No chargers in a 9 hour ride!
Traumatizing experience
The driver left a rest stop before the announced 10-minute break was over, without checking if I was back on board. I found myself alone, without my luggage, in the middle of the night, with no call or message.
I had to pay a lot to continue my journey, and my bags were lost. No help, no refund – just a dismissive “not our problem” from customer service.
Irresponsible, unsafe, and inhumane. I strongly advise against using FlixBus.
My return trip was with BlaBlaCar – cheaper, more comfortable, and much more human.
Never again
I have travelled several times with Flixbus, there was always a little bit of delay but it didn't matter since we were just travelling to a different country. This time I decided to book the Flixbus transport after my friends recommended it from Rotterdam CS to Schiphol airport. The booking was supposed to depart at 7:15. The bus was 77 minutes late without prior information. We received am email that ' the bus is running 77 minutes late at 8:20', an hour after the departure time. This is really bad customer service. Inform your clients earlier, so they can plan ahead and not waste time waiting.
Flixbus cancelles ride and refuses refund or rebook
Booked a return ride with Flixbus. Flixbus just before departure cancelled the go ticket, but not the return ticket and said it's not their problem. They refused to provide any solution except for rebooking travels for an extra high last minute fee.
Cancelled bus at 1:30AM,and expected to wait until 4:30AM for the next with no compensation
My bus at 1:30am got cancelled and the only other option offered was to take the next one at 4:30am (no possibility of alternative route) or ask for a refund. The refund of course did not cover the cost of alternative routes. Reached out to customer support and they kept excusing themselves in their T&C. They may be cheap but know that you risk facing cancellations and delays with no compensation.
Never use Flixbus
Never, i say never use this company. Due to the strikes in NL there were no trains and i had to book the only available option to get back home to my kids - the stupid flixbus. I waited entire day for it, then waited 30 minutes in the middle of the night for the bus to finally show up only to be kicked out by very rude drives because they didn't liek my foldable bicycle.
Thanks to that i had to spend a sleepless night waiting for the morning train (who's going to compensate me for that?) only to realise that flixbus refuses to even refund my unused ticket due to "no show".
Seriously - they care not about their customers - if you have any problem whatsoever - its your problem and they wont even lift a finger for you. In fact - they'll do all they can to make it worse.
The worst ride ever
The bus was broken , drivers didn’t have any tools to fix it and we waited for more than an hour until they found tools …
Also, the bus was late and arrived more than 5 hours later than it is stated in the ticket. Many people missed flights. There were children with disability…
They don’t return money for the ticket but moreover don’t help at all….
The Flixbus Survival Guide
Okay, here is THE guideline that will help you survive a flixbus trip.
1. Buy your tickets AT LEAST a month early, it's way cheaper than last minute (and cheaper outside holiday periods) because I paid 200€ and no way is a flixtrip worth that amount.
2. Bring your OWN toilet paper. There was none at my toilet, just used underwear🤢 If your ass is like a marker, bring wet whipes and/or shave your ass.
3. Flixbus is NOT a Hilton hotel, more like an used ibis on wheels. Sometimes there are charging plugs, sometimes there isn't water or toilet paper
4. DON'T book your ticket with a reserved place. Once you step on the bus, numbers and rules don't apply. There might even be a chance that your number doesn't exist.
5. Be on TIME, there are a lot of busses, and not all of them advert 'Flixbus' on the side. Search for screens, drivers and people to assure you're on th RIGHT bus
6. Bring FOOD, DRINKS and ACTIVITIES. It's gonna be a long trip.
7. DON'T even try to bring DRUGS, they do border controls, with dogs and/or with a whole swat time and it will take at least 45 minutes. In France you even get escorted to the police office, with the current political state.
8. ENJOY the view and be kind to your fellow travellers. It will help with the exhausting trip.
Happy travelling!
Never if you need connections. Frustrating customer service
Never book a trip where you need multiple flixbuses to connect. Odds are large that if you have connections of less than 4 hours you will be left somewhere halfway. I experienced a total 43 hour delay on my recent roundabout trip from Utrecht to Valencia. Customer service will frustrate the process till you agree to compensation that is lower than your actual alternative transport costs. And even this compensation is only obtained after a month of mailing and calling repeatedly
I booked retour tickets in my own Nama…
Wrong name on ticket - their mistake but they ask me to pay! I booked retour tickets in my own Name for me to travel on, I double checked all the info before I continued and paid. Suddenly on the ticket they put an entirely different name and then ask me to pay to change it. I am a 100% sure I put my own name and always double checked all info. Customer service demands me to pay for the name change .
This is a horrible Bus company the…
This is a horrible Bus company the drivers are very rude they kept us waiting and didn't even apologize very arrogant too, insult people will never ever use Flixbus again and I will personally advice anyone not to use them.
Horrific experience with FlixBus.
Horrific experience with FlixBus.
We were left stranded at a gas station in a foreign country by the drivers, who didn’t check if everyone was back on the bus. All our belongings – clothes, food, personal items – were left inside the bus.
FlixBus refused to help us in any way or refund us. We were forced to spend an extra €548 to find alternative transport and reach our destination, under extreme stress and unsafe conditions.
Their total lack of responsibility, compassion, and basic safety procedures is unacceptable.
FlixBus is NOT a safe company. They abandoned us without any care, and then washed their hands of the situation.
Travel with FlixBus at your own risk!
4 hours later I made it to Amsterdam which should've taken just 1 hour!
I arrived at Conradstraat Rdam way before the 1:35pm bus time. The bus kept being delayed. When I saw one to Sloterdijk arrive around 2:25pm I went to the driver to confirm that he was going to Schiphol. He said no and that he was going to Amsterdam Centraal Station. I offered to show him ticket bc I just need to get near Amsterdam. He refused to, demanded money instead and told me to look at the app. After he left I saw that he was indeed driving the correct bus and now I’m still trying to find my way to Amsterdam/Schiphol. He misdirected me and I was stuck out there with luggage in the rain. This is very bad.
Afterward, I had to pay the next driver to get to Amsterdam 4+ hours later because that bus was 30 mins late. The company has not replied to my refund request email.
Flixbus has really diminished. I guess you get what you pay for! SMH
Why do toilets almost never work?
I’ve taken Flixbus many times, and the toilets are almost always locked. Drivers are often unfriendly and refuse short stops for really long stretches. This keeps happening, and the company simply doesn’t care. Never again.
The bus was an hour late with no…
The bus was an hour late with no notice. The app said the bus was on time even at the hour late mark. No one at the bus station had any information. When I called FlixBus the agent just said the bus was on the way but she couldn’t tell me how late it would be. When the bus arrived it was a Greyhound that smelled like feces, two people were engaged in a physical confrontation over stolen items, and none of the outlets worked. Once we were in our way the driver stopped suddenly constantly, nearly hitting other cars and making me physically ill. I will never use FlixBus again. I’ve used it a few times and it’s always been bad but this was the absolute worst.
Don't book tickets with Children
Don't book the tickets with Flixbus they will allow you to book and let you know the terms after the booking. I book the bus with kids and they haven't mentioned anything at the time of booking. After the booking they mentioned we need to carry a child seat. Who is that idiot carry a child seat for the vacation. They will not refund money but give a useless voucher.
At the mercy of drivers’ insolence
Using it for the first time from The Hague to Antwerp. I truly wished it was not the last time …
1) ventilation is far suboptimal!!
2) the drivers made a stop 1h before arrival. They announced it will be 10min… it was more close half an hour!! When i pointed at this, they even tried to argue that it was 10min!!
Seriously?
Yes, it is a low budget travel and convenient as an alternative to going through various train connections.
However, one should be ready for modest buses.
What one should not have to ready for is drivers’ insolence!
WORST COMPANY EVER!
WORST COMPANY EVER!
2 times in one trip! From Netherlands to Brussels and back!
I arrived on time, the bus driver told me “this is not the bus, take the one after”
After he left I waited with my family, the I discovered that that was the bus!!
I tried contacting the customer service WITH NO HELP at all! No following up, nothing! no refund even!!
I had to book another ticket!
When coming back! I’ve been waiting for 25 mins, asking everyone, the bus driver, the leading person, they all told me just wait this is not the bus!!
After that I asked again! They told me “ we cannot help you, you missed the bus”
In a very non professional bad non helpful way!!
This is a scam company! no refunds! No help! No customer service that actually helps!!
Never ever riding with this company again!
