Shogun book is not up to standard, few illustrations and double page ones are not opening fully (middle of the illustration is not visible making them look silly).

I ordered the trilogy starting with Howl's Moving Castle and received the Doctor Strange volume for my mystery gift choice. Dr. Strange was a favorite of mine so it was a great pick. The books are well-crafted and great care also shows in the slipcases. I wish I could buy many volumes Folio offers, but, like many, find the majority of my favorites, outside of my price range. I did place an order for the Batman volume after seeing the quality given to the Doctor Strange edition. I had been reluctant to get it as I have many of the included stories, in their entirety, in other HC collections. The lasting quality of Folio editions, swayed my decision.

Just received my first purchase from the Folio Society, A song of ice and fire's book 1, a game of thrones. The pictures on the website and videos do not do these books justice. It absolutely oozes class and quality. I already own several versions of one of my favourite book, but this is the absolute best of the best.

I was on the fence regarding the pricing, however, I would absolutely say that it is worth every penny. I will certainly be looking to finish the game of thrones collection with the Folio Society.

I have mixed feelings about the Folio Society.

On the one hand, I love their books. Some are genuinely beautiful, very special editions and absolutely worth the money.

Others feel considerably overpriced, particularly when a much thinner, less substantial book costs roughly the same as a far more impressive volume. As an author myself, I understand licensing fees and publishing costs, but some editions simply don’t feel worth the asking price.

My bigger issue is with the company and the customer experience.

Their recent sale was a pop up shop in London, seemingly ignoring the large number of UK customers who don’t live in London or the south.

Shipping charges also feel excessive, particularly when orders don’t always arrive on time despite paying extra for delivery.

The website is also frustrating. When browsing lists, it frequently throws you back to the top, making the catalogue unnecessarily difficult to navigate. I also signed up for a restock notification for a book and never received one. I eventually found out it was back in stock through Reddit. And no, it wasn’t caught by my spam filter. Folio Society emails are specifically allowed through.

I’m also not impressed by the way signed editions are handled.

A book is released, you buy it, and then a few months later the same book is offered as a signed edition. Except, in some cases, the book itself isn’t actually signed. It’s a signed bookplate stuck into the book.

Existing customers who bought the edition at launch aren’t given the option to purchase the signed bookplate separately. It leaves you feeling penalised for buying early.

So, on the one hand, Folio Society produces some truly beautiful books that I’m very happy to own. On the other, the pricing can be questionable and the customer experience is consistently frustrating.

Yet another beautiful book from the Folio Society. My order was processed promptly and I was kept informed of its progress. The parcel was well packed and I approve of the use of recyclable materials instead of bubble wrap. The production standards are as high as ever and the illustrations exceptional. I look forward to reading it.

I received my book sooner than expected! The book was beautiful and in good condition. The cover box had a little bit of a ding in it.

I have ordered a number of Folio Society books for my son, who is a book collector. He is always thrilled with the books he receives. They are beautiful works of art. Ordering online is simple and the books are packed very securely and arrive promptly.

I ordered two books and that meant I got a mystery folio during this particular deal. The two books I ordered were absolutely beautiful quality with superb illustrations and covers. Things of beauty. I then was soooooo excited that the mystery folio turned out to be one of my favourite books, so now I have a gorgeous edition gracing my shelves. The packaging is always good so you don't get damage. Ordering process is nice and easy. I just keep coming back!

I ordered a copy of Shogun. Like all Folio Society editions, it is positively gorgeous. Everything about it reeks of class. I love the way it was protected in its packaging, and of course the book is a work of art.

The website is easy to navigate, ordering in simple and delivery arrived exactly when they said it would.

My original order never arrived despite the delivery company saying they had delivered it.
Got in touch with Folio books, expecting them to say not our problem.

In fact they responded very quickly, investigated, didn’t get any joy with the delivery company but sent me out a replacement book which I have received.

Very pleased to get my book and very impressed with the service I received.

I have always had fantastic service from the Folio Society. I usually phone to order and have found them helpful and so polite, it is a pleasure to speak to them on the phone. The books are very well packaged and always arrive when they say they will and in excellent condition. The books are a joy to hold and read, and I have started buying now for my granddaughters and great grandchildren when I can afford too. I am hoping they will enjoy them as much as I do.
