strongly suggest avoiding FreeNow

strongly suggest avoiding FreeNow. They have an algorithm that will apply a cancellation fee for cancelling a ride where the driver will drive away from your pick up point and even after waiting double the expected wait time, the customer is still charged. The reimbursement can only be received as a voucher to use at FreeNow. I have three consecutive cases where this has happened, and it’s forcing customers to use the service and pay FreeNow.

Very unreliable

While we were in Rome, we ordered two separate taxis via the app. The first taxi we ordered for a pickup after 30 minutes, after receiving confirmation within a few minutes, we then received a message at the pickup time saying that the driver couldn’t pick us up. We made the second booking 26 hours before we wanted to be picked up to go to the airport, again we had confirmation and the name of the driver, 1 hour before the pickup time we received a message to say the name of the driver had been changed, the taxi never arrived!! I would never attempt to use Freenow again, and I wouldn’t recommend anyone to do so. If I could I would give this review 1 star!!!

A disgraceful company that needs to be…

A disgraceful company that needs to be looked at legally!!! A law unto themself and with absolutely no regard for customers, especially in Ireland, where apparently customer care doesn’t have the technology to telephone!
Their app is theft. I began a search, when nothing was coming up I moved on. As I didn’t cancel the search I was fined! I never confirmed I wanted to pick up, I just didn’t realize I had to cancel a search!!
And customer care is bbc appalling! Thh my r fine was small, but I will spend a lot more making sure everyone hears the truly illegal behavior of this company!
I tried to be civil with customer care, but they really couldn’t care less!

Hands down worst taxi company out there

Really terrible company. I got scammed on their app. I take the same trip 5 mornings per week, it always costs around the same (maybe a euro either way). Recently I was scammed when a driver charged me an extra 50% over what I normally pay. I contacted him and he advised he had charged the correct amount, the 50% was a free now "technology" charge. Free now basically laughed at me. Told me I should know to ask for a receipt. The absolutely useless Stephanie Soares couldn't even refer to me by the correct name. Very nasty customer services. The logic of losing a customer who spends around 200 Euro every month purely because no one bothered explaining common decency to Stephanie. Or how when you have a frustrated customer, refusing to use their actual name will lead to more frustration.
I've sense started using Uber instead. It works a lot better so far. Leaving aside a very incompetent customer services, the free now app doesn't work very well. Also they don't take traffic into consideration when calculating time to arrive or cost of trip. Which is very basic. Your phone will tell you its a 5 min trip but you end up sitting in traffic for half an hour - pretty regular occurrence in Galway city anyway. Uber do take traffic into account. Save yourself some Euro's - DONT LET FREE NOW SCAM YOU TOO

The worst taxi company, A fare that cost 19euro I was charged 39 euro when I asked why so expensive he wouldn't explain why, then ask for drivers name refused to give it and didn't have his badge or picture ID displayed horrible company,

Avoid using this company, waste of time!

The drivers never, ever, ever accept any of the jobs. Everytime I request a ride, 30min later, still looking for a driver - even though the app shows a lot of available drivers near by.

If your drivers don't want to accept jobs or go to certain places, replace them with someone who will. I have never refused to do my job, regardless of being self employed (as your drivers are too). Oh, on a number of occasions, driver has accepted the job, only to cancel after calling me to ask where I'm going. I know I have a good rider rating, as 1 driver has shown me that its a near perfect rating - so that's not the issue.

I just choose to walk or call a local cab firms now. Or pay extra and call a black cab (never has a black cab let me down).

Shame because this app used to be good. It's not just Freenow, Bolt is just as bad!

Terrible app and very dirty car

I booked a ride and dropped the pin where I wanted to be collected, as we had two large suitcases. The app accepted the ride and chose its own pick up location.

I tried to view their chosen location but the map would not scroll and it was impossible to zoom in and see where to be picked up. I could only see the address but not the map, so we dragged our suitcases up the whole length of the road until our blue dot went into their chosen spot.

When the car arrived, it was not at the specified pick up time. The car was extremely dirty and the windows were open, presumably to air the stained seats. We felt really dirty sitting inaide that car and it was a poor first impression of using Freenow and I wouldn't be in a hurry to use it again. I'll stick with the main competitor.

Absolutely terrible service

Absolutely terrible service and pricing. 20%+ more than Uber and the customer service is terrible. They falsely advertise to you to get your attention and will screw you on the fare cost. Never use this service!

Do not take a taxi in Athens using…FREENOW

Do not take a taxi in Athens using FREENOW. They rip off tourists.
Take you somewhere else other than where you booked. They’ll double the price of your trip and say “normally 7 euros but because you’re in a heavy traffic area, got to travel in an opposite direction,pouring rain, etc you’ll have to pay double “

My 5 star hotel booked a FREENOW taxi told them in Greek where we wanted to go , a Drs surgery to get a script for a painful gout
The driver took us to no 8 instead of 118
I said wrong number and he said just up the road 20 m (2 km walk !!)

Quote was 23 euros. Final amount was 41 euros. As I explored the city afterwards(I was here for a week), I need that her diff booty take their direct route. I mentioned it to freenow and they dismissed it. Poor customer service.

Don’t care about safety

After almost getting into a taxi with a driver who then jumped out and began screaming at and threatening another driver and his mother, in the middle of the quays I contacted free now. They basically shrugged their shoulders, despite it being one of their drivers. I would not use a Freenow car, some of their drivers are unhinged and they don’t care.

I lost my bag in a taxi…

I lost my bag in a taxi that I booked with freenow. I tried by all means to get in contact with the taxi driver. Afterwards I also tried to contact with the app. There was no phone number available. So it was impossible to contact anyone. Since then I have never used freenow again.

Worst service ever and avoid this…

Worst service ever and avoid this company at all cost! They cancelled my pre booking and still charged me on full fare! How is that fair to the customer! I am now escalating to the relive my authorities and possible to file a law suit.

Total ripoff company

Total ripoff company! I was quoted 22 euros from downtown Dublin to airport. I was charged 47 euros. You cannot see the charge until your card is charged after the taxi is gone! Do not use this company!!!!!

We rented a card for a day trip to a…

We rented a car for a day trip to a nearby lake and at the end of our day out, as we wanted to head home, we went to unlock the car only to find that the FreeNow app was no longer working, thus leaving us unable to unlock the car. We tried to reach customer services, put in a help request, downloaded and logged in to the app on four separate phones, but no luck. The app was down and no one at FreeNow was available to help. We waited for a further five hours in case the app started working again, but in the end had to find an alternative way to get all the way home and leave the rental car where it was. Not only did this put a real damper on what was supposed to be a relaxing day out, but we had to come all the way out first thing in the morning to pick up the car and drive it back. We were charged for two days, so stuck with a very expensive rental that did not serve us and caused a huge amount of stress. We have provided FreeNow with ample evidence that their app was not working at the time, not to mention the service request we submitted at the time. It's unbelievable that they are charging us double for their mistake. Needless to say I will never be using their services again and will be sharing this story with my friends as a word of warning. It's utterly disgraceful!

Last time I wrote a review about how FREENOW basically robbed us and their driver is a liar. They responded to me how they are sorry to hear about it and asked me to reach out to them, and I did. I got an automatic response that I would receive an answer within 72 hours. Well, it’s been more than 4 days - that’s how they care about feedback THEY ask themselves. Especially since I originally wrote the information about my first complain including the NUMBER. every contact with this company has been weird as hell
