Disgraceful Antisemitism at Ballymena…
Disgraceful Antisemitism at Ballymena Store
I am leaving this one-star review to report a deeply disturbing and antisemitic incident I experienced at the Halfords in Ballymena.
On the 17th of August, at approximately 3 pm, I was in the store waiting for a purchase to be installed. As an observant Jewish person, wearing my kippah, I was utterly horrified to hear an employee, who was working on a silver Hyundai SUV just outside, singing "Throw the Jew down the well".
This was not a misunderstanding; it was a brazen and unacceptable antisemitic attack in broad daylight at a place of business.
When I confronted the employee and his colleague to ask if it was all Jews they were planning on throwing down the well, they simply muttered a response and offered no apology whatsoever.
I am outraged that this is the kind of behaviour that staff feel comfortable displaying while on the job. I am considering reporting the incident to the Police and all relevant statutory bodies. Management needs to provide answers as to how this disgraceful antisemitic act could possibly be seen as acceptable within their store.
I await a response and to learn what subsequent actions will be taken. Other customers deserve to know what kind of culture is being tolerated here.
Battery failed in less than a month
Battery failed in less than a month. Impossible to get through to customer service so the guarantee in meaningless. Had to arrange call out for a car that wouldn't start and pay for a new battery.
My Son bought an e scooter for over…
My Son bought an e scooter for over £350 and less than 3 weeks later the scooter just stopped dnd threw him into a concrete slab cracking ribs and cutting his head n hands. Attended Harlow hospital.
We brought the scooter back to store in Harlow , the manager was so rude and unconcerned looked at the code on the bike and said nothing to do with us it’s under warranty and to contact Pure.
Couldn’t find details on the web site and after a fashion a young lady working there said she had it saved in her own phone as another customer the previous week had the same problem.
We Emailed pure and had no response so today on Tuesday 26th August after numerous calls to head office was advised to again take the scooter to store.
The manager was very unhelpful and kept saying you need to contact pure and follow procedure …he had his camera on and am so glad he did …as I will be requesting this footage through the FOI request procedure.
After contacting Rabia at customer service I was told a request for a refund has been started …the manager said he refused a refund
After ringing again I was told to leave the scooter and a refund will be issued or a new scooter will be sourced from another branch and again was told someone will ring back …no one did do I rang again
The call assistant lady said the manager has reported that the scooter was crashed??? Stating it’s not under warranty after 3 weeks …and that we were rude not the case at all ..the manager was the rude one ignoring our talk and repeating “follow the procedure”continuously talking to us like we were idiots.
I just wanted a refund or a replacement scooter but he categorically told us no and refused to give me a receipt for the damaged scooter until I rang head office once again !!!
No apology about my son being thrown into a concrete slab and he actually said my son shouldn’t have been riding it in public place ….he doesn’t know where my son was riding it …it was categorically on private land .
How dare the manager be able to report lies …
So as it stands my scooter is in Harlow Halfords so I have no goods and no refund …
Disgusting customer service from start to finish the manager only had to help arrange collection from pure but no was very ignorant and unhelpful obv very unhappy in his stressful job
I always go to letchworth branch where staff are lovely and never ever had a problem but my son used this store at Harlow .
People beware buying a product under warranty from here they will attempt to not help you after you have parted with your money and try to pass the buck
My contract was with Halfords and this is the company that took our money …
I will now be consulting legal lines for injury and loss of earnings unless Halfords issue an apology and refund or replace our damaged goods
Staff at Harlow look so unhappy as well everything seems a effort even getting served
Avoid this branch if you can folks

I had great help given by Ollie at Basildon Halfords, he fixed my bycicle and was very helpful!
Manchester/Withe City
Manchester, the White City. Service and sales are a joke and a disgrace to management's incompetence. Goods ordered according to specifications are exchanged for others. The specifications and price don't match. To management, A5/B5 oil is the same as C2/C3. The word "sorry" doesn't change the fact of incompetence. This isn't the first time Halfords has been indifferent to what they sell. You disrespect the customer. You should be punished for your ignorance and carelessness. Send store staff to learn to read. A is not C and 5 is not 3. I will be copying information about the terrible service and incompetence of Halfords employees. I'm not interested in apologies, and we work hard... you empty words mean nothing to Halfords.
Twice Upsold in Less Than a Month – Poor Service at Halfords / National Tyres Altrincham
I’ve now had two separate experiences of upselling at Halfords / National Tyres in Altrincham, Manchester:
1. Major Service + 1 Tyre Replacement
Along with the service, I was billed for several extras: extended tyre warranty, wheel balance, 4-wheel alignment, oil flush, and tyre rotation.
2. Return Visit for Radiator Replacement
Just weeks later, a radiator leak (which wasn’t picked up in the major service) forced me back. On top of the radiator replacement, I was charged again for another 4-wheel alignment — supposedly because the suspension was disturbed. But radiator replacement on a Hyundai i40 does not normally involve suspension removal.
When I escalated via Halfords’ complaints procedure, I expected an independent review. Instead, the complaint was routed back to the same store, which simply repeated that the charges were correct. The case was then closed with no proper justification.
This feels like systematic upselling and poor accountability. Being charged for multiple unnecessary add-ons, and then again after their service missed a fault, is unacceptable.
Website simply does not work
Website simply does not work. Ordered mobile tyre service. Payment was taken but no confirmation of order or order number. Website just went back to "basket empty". Still chasing my money.
Placed an order for dash and rear cam…
Placed an order for dash and rear cam inc. fitting. website is ridiculously poor! After the order was placed including selecting the fitting centre I then got a call saying Epsom Halfords do not do fitting so they cancelled it, but not the order for the goods which were no good to me without the install. I then had to go through the very long process of contacting Halfords to cancel the whole order. It is extremely poor service to string a customer along like this, why allow a booking for a site that does not have installers!!
Excellent service - bulb replacement Broadbridge Heath
Popped into the Broadbridge Heath, Horsham store to get replacement headlamp bulbs fitted on my VW Golf. Despite being awkward to fit them the technician, Karen, was calm, patient and extremely friendly - excellent service 👍

BEYOND BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE TO DOWNRIGHT DANGEROUS.
I first wrote this review whilst sitting in the reception being ignored. That was unpleasant but nothing compared to what followed:
We arrived at the time that we were asked to be here for two new tyres, only to find the person in front of us was waiting since 8 o'clock in the morning having been told that her car would be serviced then, only now to be told that wasn't scheduled to be serviced at 12 o'clock. She walked out.
After the woman walked out the man who had been serving her asked who was next, so my wife and I went up to the counter. We were just in the process of explaining that we were there to drop off our car to have two new tyres fitted when the woman came back in and complained that she couldn't leave as they'd parked a car in the way. The man immediately stopped serving us, told us he'd be back and walked off. Eventually, after about another 20 minutes he came back in, completely ignored my wife and I sitting at the desk, spoke over our heads ignoring the man who had come in after us and was also waiting, and instead asked a man who had just walked in through the door what he could do for him!
My wife didn't shout or abuse him, but pointed out that he had walked off and left us and was now talking over our heads to somebody who just walked in. His response was not to apologize but to complain about how stressful his job was.
I tried to explain to him that though it might not be his fault, he was a representative of the company and that really he should have apologized on the part of the company to the woman who had walked out as well as to us. I also explained that I'd used the time while we were sitting around waiting to write a bad review of the company's customer service. His response was to announce that he'd had enough and was resigning and he stormed out in a huff.
Another member of staff came in shortly afterwards and explained that the man who'd walked out was the deputy manager and that without a manager they were going to have to shut down the place.
Anyway after a while they sorted out a manager to come over from a different depot. We would have walked out sometime before but we had already paid through the website and were not confident that if we walked out it would be easy to get a refund. So when the new manager arrived and appeared to be reasonably competent I suggested to my wife that we did actually let them do the tyres - providing they were reasonably quick about it. The new manager assured us that he would be so I explained that wanted one tyre on the front passenger side wheel and one on the spare wheel which I had put on the passenger seat conveniently for them, and that I wanted the driver's side tyre and wheel to become the new spare.
This was quite important because we have terrible roads around us the tracking had been knocked out and ripped through the tyres that urgently need replacing. What I haven't realized was that on the inside edge of the passenger tire had been worn right down to the point that the threads that hold the tire together were visible. I only found this out when we returned to pick up the car and I checked the wheel that they'd put in the boot to make sure that it was the right one, I found that they'd actually put one of the tyres the car had ripped through in the boot and that our spare was an incredibly dangerous illegal tire - meanwhile they'd taken off a perfectly good legal tyre off the driver's side which they were throwing away. At least the put it back when I pointed out the mistake.
We set off home disgruntled but relieved that we'd actually got the tyres. However, when we got home my wife pointed out that the tread on the tiles didn't look like the pictures. Add briefly check the tyres and seen that they were Bridgestone, which is what we'd paid for, but I haven't looked as closely as I should have because we'd ordered all season tires, and paid a premium for them, but they fitted the cheaper version of the tyre - the summer only version.
We were so fed up with the Bedford branch that we decided not to go back and complain there again, but have raised the issue with customer services. The woman from customer services was considerably more helpful, but we are still waiting to see what the outcome will be.
This is without a doubt the worst experience I've had with the garage - and I find it simply inexplicable that they would throw away the perfectly legal tire and put a downright dangerous one as the spare - which could have left us in a really difficult situation had we ever needed to use it.
They said items was delivered while it…
They said items was delivered while it was not. The customer service is atrocious. It took so much effort to even talk to someone on the phone as all the ways they suggest come back to useless faq. Then they said they would open a case number and get back in 5-7 business days. Lol. Never again.
Exceptional service
We have just been to Halford Ings road wakefield and we were served by Chelsea she was knowledgable honest and extremely helpful
find better staff
asked at the bike desk where the bottom bracket cartridges were. was told by a member of staff "i dont get you" i just turned round and walked out. shopped elsewhere
Bulb replacement required
Bulb replacement required, fixture broken by operative during removal. Initially told that the store manager requested that I get a quote to replace the unit that was broken by operative, when I requested something in writing to this effect the tune changed and I was told damage caused by water ingress in unit which has been incorrectly closed but guess what only months before this same bulb was replaced by guess who - Halfords! Now I am facing the cost to replace entire light unit at a cost of £681.
Steer clear unless you want poor work, rescinded offers to make good and hefty bills to make good.

Outstanding service in Plymouth Halfords
I went into Plymouth Marshmills branch today. I was greeted by Rhys! He went out of his way to get the product for me.
My experience in Halfords was faultless, all down to the most genuinely helpful guy! THANK YOU Rhys, you are a credit to whoever brought you up sir. X
Great sales assistant - (overworked)
The young gentleman, Nigel, bike department was exemplary in his knowledge and caring attitude in helping me find a new bike and heavy duty padlock.
Halfords desperately need to employ another assistant and backup, as it seems that this undervalued employee is working and managing the bike department singlehandedly.
Happy with Nigel but Halfords, no.
