Mistr is great, he helps me to have accessible medications, in a good time.
Left without medicine multiple times
I had ongoing delays with MISTR for prescription renewals, refills, and insurance updates. Each request often took several days, with back-and-forth between customer service and the pharmacy, and responses were inconsistent. I ran out of medication multiple times because refills were not processed on time. When I raised a complaint, the resolution offered was limited, and the issue was not resolved promptly. In contrast, switching to Freddie provided immediate access to my medication and more consistent support

Customer service is poor. Messages are responded by many different staff/support and are uncoordinated and poor quality.

Ease of access. On time, every time. Very responsive. Couldn't ask for more responsive and attentive care than that provided by Dr McCartney. Going on 5 years now and very pleased with Mistr.

My messages are responded in a timely manner. I also enjoy not having to deal with long lines with in-person testing (sometimes having to wait another day because of my busy schedule). The results take a little longer to receive due to mailing, but that’s expected.

MISTR made it very easy for me to get prep and Doxy delivered quickly and easily the hardest part was writing my name on the labels that were already fixed to the test tubes lol, I like how they let you know what was going on every step of the way they could not have made the process any smoother or easier for me very happy!nb not exactly sure of the date I first contacted MISTR but I’m certain it was September of this year!

The process delivered what I was looking for.
The experience ended up giving me whatever I expected. The only thing that kept the review from being 5 stars is that the initial web meeting with the doctor was missed and had to be rescheduled.

Was great, now awful
I’ve been with Mistr for about 5 years now and the journey I’ve been on has been quite a ride. The tl;dr of it all is in the beginning it was great; awesome communication through the portal, email, and text. The service started falling off about a year ago (2024/25) and now they’re absolutely horrid to deal with.
Because I am trans (FtM), I have to be on Truvada and not Descovy. This last telehealth visit I confirmed with the doctor that I would be prescribed Truvada because of a paperwork issue that’s happened twice in the past with them sending the wrong prescription. The doctor assured me that I would be getting the correct medication. I then confirmed again while filling out paperwork through the portal that I would be taking Truvada, and again told I would be getting it. I come to find out now that they’re sending the wrong prescription to the pharmacy and now I have to go through a whole bunch more waiting for them to get their act together because of their own mistake. I have less than a weeks worth of meds left now and will be off them for however long they take to sort this issue out.
They also used to be way more proactive when having to fill out documents and set up appointments for renewing information, now you better have your own calendar reminders for things or you won’t get your meds in time.
I appreciate very much what they do for the community and especially with their insurance program assistance, but these consistent mistakes are making me look into other services. I don’t know what happened in the last year or two to make all this incredibly difficult, but it needs to go back before the whole of the community stops using their services.

Test vial labels and prescription problems
Test vials come with the labels pre-attached making it impossible to write information on them. My first drugs were mailed to me with no issue. However, the second time Mistr contacted me saying my insurance wouldn’t cover their pharmacy and asked me to provide them with a different pharmacy so I did. I kept checking the pharmacy app to see when my medication was available and saw that they’ve been trying to contact the prescribing doctor. They suggested I contact the prescribing doctor. So I have sent I don’t know how many messages to Mistr asking them to resolve this issue. It is still unresolved. I have been without the medication for over two weeks now. Needless to say, I’m getting very frustrated. I’m going to seek another provider.

MISTR has been a literal life-saver for me! I did not have the insurance or ability to get PReP and MISTR made it a seamless process. The at home testing is certainly convenient, the regular dr visit call is non-judgement and the dr is easy to take with. Finally the access to PReP is the most incredible aspect. I didn’t even know where to “start” on my own.
