I purchased some Hunter walking boots from Frasers. Luckily got them in a sale but they were still over £100, wore them for one hiking trip for a week, so in total maybe wore them 20 times, the seams... See more

Awful experience, you pay a lot of money for return
Awful experience! The boots arrived and they were too narrow on my calves - mind you, I have average calves, and I'm size M/L. So unless you're XS/S, these boots are not going to fit. Now the worst part - once I decided to return them, I realised YOU have to pay for the return!! And it's a big box, so the cheapest option to return them is around £8 and that's when you don't have full insurance of the parcel (so if it goes missing in transit, you lose the money). The insured option is around £20!! So you are literally paying out of your pocket lots of money to return boots that were too narrow because they make them for super thin people only. Once they make a refund, they also charge you for the shipping to you - so you end up paying both for the shipping and the return. AWFUL!!!! Avoid at all costs. I've never seen such horrendeous return policy before.
Quite possibly the worst customer…
Quite possibly the worst customer service experience I have ever had. Item left on my doorstep and subsequently missing but company refusing all responsibility and will not even raise an issue with DPD despite paying for signed for delivery. Now without item and out of pocket, would not recommend! Customer services department incredibly unhelpful
Terrible company to buy from
Terrible company to buy from.
I purchased a coat online and paid £144. The coat was marked as delivered by DPD and a tracking photo showing a box left next to my front door in full view of the public. Item gone by the time I was home. Contacted DPD who said the investigation needs to be initiated by the merchant. Contacted Hunter boots uk customer services who just kept sending AI looking responses to say they can't help further as item is marked as delivered.
Customers should be aware that if there is an issue after the item leaves their warehouse, they are unlikely to help.
Shocking Customer Service
Don’t waste your time or money with this brand. Customer service is shocking, any email you send to them is just returned with copy and paste pre-agreed lines. A company of this stature not offering free, or a subsidised returns cost is so poor. The sheer size of the boxes and weight means you’re looking £10 to return, minimum, that’s if you only order one pair of the boots/wellies.
Disingenuous and presumably overseas-based shonky customer support
There were 2 issues - first issue is the alleged Black Friday 'Code' did not work against an eligible product - that was initially off putting and felt exploitative and dishonest. For a high-end brand, it's not the kind of business practice you would expect.
Second issue, the boots I bought (that were not Black Friday Deal and full price at £120.00) arrived with the base of the box clearly burst. I didn't immediately check the contents but a couple of days later when I went to wrap them on the evening before my daughter's birthday I pushed back the broken box base to see the boots had clearly fallen out in transit - one was a bit scuffed and both were dirty. I wiped them clean, dried them off, repaired the box and wrapped them since I had no alternative. I raised the issue. Got the automated response then nothing. A week later, I emailed again and it took me back to stage 1 of customer support. I gave up and came here instead. That's what they want - to wear you down so you just give up. Been wearing Hunter wellies since forever but the pair I have currently will be the last. Poor show for the price point of their products
Failed brand, failed product. Spend a bit more elsewhere.
Pair of wellies that cost over €100 lasted for just over a year before they failed in multiple spots. Beyond repair.
Messaged the website we bought them from, only to be told the ownership had changed hands since I bought them (I live in Netherlands) so nothing they could do. Guarantee is only for a year. A year for a pair of boots tells you everything you need to know about their belief in the quality of their product. Messaged the mother brand in UK, I'm advised to speak to the local entity. Zero ownership of the problem from anyone, just avoiding replacing a faulty product.
Wish I'd done my homework - a brand and product that I grew up with as reliable and high quality has clearly shifted its focus on mass sales, but without dropping their price to match the drop in quality.
I'd advise buying LeChameau instead - 2 year warranty (my pair are going strong after 8 years). They're about 30% more expensive, but the long term saving is massive.
return
Trying to trigger a return, no feedback and when I do receive an email not helpful information
Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service. I realise that it keeps costs down by funnelling everything through online contact forms, but there are times when speaking to someone is what is needed.
I bought a pair for my husband for his birthday, and the payment went through Shopify, which I rarely use. The payment went onto my husband's card, which was the last thing you would do for a gift. I immediately tried to contact them to switch the payment details, but all I was able to do was fill in a contact form, which cheerfully told me "someone " would deal with it in a couple of days. They then sent me a " how did we do in resolving your problem" email a couple of days later. Really, your wellies might be great, but I will never deal with you again. I almost feel like sending them back and paying £15 to do so. I have never given any company a bad review before as I would rather deal with them directly to sort any issues out.
i ordered two boots
i ordered two boots, only one was packaged and shipped and ive been told that they are adamant they sent the full order however i have communicated many times that there was only the terracotta boots in the package. I do not have time for the back fourth. I will ensure this complaint goes to the CEO. My order was not fufilled. My birthday is on the 7th Decemeber and i was hoping to wear it on that day for activities and ive been left in a position where ive put a order through and only half was fufilled then emailed that they are not going to do anything about it has angered me immensely.
Go woke, go broke.
Hunter’s direction as a brand seems increasingly detached from the people who actually buy and use their products. Their marketing feels more style-over-substance, and unfortunately the boots follow the same pattern. The build quality isn’t what it used to be, and they simply don’t justify the price anymore. A company with this heritage should focus on durability and performance — not distractions
Appalling customer ‘service’
I bought two Borg jackets in 2 different sizes to save time. On receipt the quality of the items seems perfect as to be expected from this brand. One was right for me, the other too small. So began (and continuing) saga - the marathon troublesome experience trying to register an item for return which is their absolute first step. Not only do they require the customer to pay for returns, their return process is truly Machiavellian designed to frustrate the customer. It’s taken me three elapsed hours but I’ve got nowhere. I have already paid for EVRI to send it back BUT I must Register the return on their portal first and it isn’t working. FYI customer service does NOT provide a phone number. The phone number given for Hunter on TrustPilot is out of service or just wrong. Hunter offers an email address but the response is from robots who are worse than usual AI. Clearly the brand strength does not extend to it use of information systems nor its customer service. I’m so disappointed in Hunter. What a shame they are not protecting the brand in its key front line contact with clients.
No Customer Service
I order something an hour before the black Friday sale went live, when I asked if they would credit me the difference they outright refused. The only option they have given me is to return the item I have bought and re-order it at the discounted rate. I would completly understand if it was days or weeks before but we are talking about 60 minutes. Hunter would rather have a customer go through all of these lengths to get the discount rather than just honour it. Not only this but the item is free delivery which means their customer service team have just cost the company more money by having to ship another order as well as process and handle it. On top of this it is also not very environmentally friendly to be having couriers deliver the same items again. A completly preventable problem has just lost them a customer and cost their company more money in the long run.
Terrible customer service.
Terrible customer service.
Wellingtons never received, parcel not delivered by DPD but sent back to Hunter Boots per DPD email.
Requested a refund From Hunter Boots as I never received the good and would like to order some wellingtons as I need them urgently.
Refusing to refund me until the parcel has been recieved back from DPD.
Have emailed and emailed they are still refusing to refund as apparently they still haven't received them back from DPD.
Surely this is a problem for DPD and Hunters Boots to sort.
No phone number to try and get it resolved and speak to someone in person, just constant generic email replies, no one in customer service is willing to help me.
Should have read these reviews before…
Should have read these reviews before purchasing an over priced pair of rain boots. I wear my boots only to walk the dog in rainy weather. The rubber has cracked after only a couple of years and water enters the boot, first soaking my big toe then everything else. Have probably worn these boots less than 50 times.
Do not purchase from Hunter. They went into administration and have been bought out and currently re branding. Same low quality, high cost products though.
Worst quality I've ever seen
I bought Hunter Tall Wellies and on my 4th wear, there was a leak or a hole or a seam come apart somewhere. Water was leaking into the boot and I had wet feet in minutes. Pretty disappointing to spend almost £100 on wellies only to end up with wet feet within the month. I've had supermarket pairs that were made better.
Third successive pair of neoprene …
Third successive pair of neoprene wellies as nice design , comfortable to wear BUT - each has lasted a lesser time than the one before with the dreaded sensation of wet socks started to present itself
No obvious penetration or seams detaching so I don’t know what the design or material issue is.
Current pair are less than a year old and now leaking , these were bought on line and I really don’t want to go through the hassle of complaining/ asking for new pair sadly goodbye UK Hunter and back to French Aigle So buyer beware 😢
Unhelpful customer service, incorrect information, expensive return costs
Unhelpful customer service, expensive return fees - I contacted customer services to ask where in my area (a large city) I could try on a pair of boots - any boots - to check my size before ordering online, because I wanted to avoid expensive and unecessary return costs.
The reply from customer services was just a few words long with a list of 4 shops, one (a chain) which has not had a physical store in a number of years.
I emailed again asking if they could give me any idea of whether boots were stocked in the remaining 3 options and was told to call the stores.
I don't think I'll bother. It seems strange to me that they have no idea what kind of stock these large outlets are carrying. I didn't need them to tell me where to find a specific item, just boots in the most broadest sense!
It seems the level of customer service doesn't come close to meeting what a customer would expect of a heritage brand.
Your Balmoral boot absolutely rubbish
Your Balmoral boot absolutely rubbish.
Always cleaned after an outing with your cleaning product, not even had 2 winters out of them and they have cracked.
Do not touch these with a barge pole .
Complete waist of money.
Avoid
The warranty clearly means nothing
If you think you're covered by a 24-month Hunter warranty... You aren't. Shoppers beware!
I am now on my third - yes, third - pair of Hunter boots that have developed a fault. On the first, the sole came away from the boot. On the second, the lining disintegrated and started causing me blisters. On this pair, the boot has developed a hole in the back which lets water in when I walk in the rain.
I raised this and was told that 'Unfortunately, our manufacturer's warranty policy specifically covers defects in materials and workmanship, and it excludes damage caused by normal wear and tear, accidents, or misuse.'
How can this be true when all I have done is wear the boots on dog walks twice a day in the countryside for 23 months? Isn't this what their boots are supposedly made for - the outdoors?
Totally unimpressed and infuriated that a month before my warranty ends, they won't honour that this is clearly a manufacturing fault. I've never known anyone who wears a pair of boots and then the back literally comes off the boot. That's not normal wear and tear, Hunter.
So beware if you're thinking of buying some Hunter boots... This will certainly be the last time I do.
Buyer beware
Buyer beware, most companies give you from October to the end of January to return or exchange for Christmas items, Hunter does not!!! Very expensive boots if they dont fit or like or whatever, not customer friendly at all!!! That will be my first and only purchase ever!!!
