Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many people expressed dissatisfaction with the product quality, noting issues such as boots and shoes falling apart, soles detaching, and materials not holding up to expected wear. Customers frequently reported that items advertised as waterproof failed to live up to this claim, with feet getting wet quickly. There were also concerns about sizing inconsistencies and a perceived decline in overall quality compared to previous purchases from the brand. Some people were dissatisfied with the pricing, mentioning instances where products arrived with lower price tags than what they paid, or felt that the quality did not justify the cost. Worst shoe ever !!!!

What a horrible shoe , I walk my dog many miles a week and my Jack Walker shoes have had their day after 5 years , didn’t read the reviews on Karrimor footwear bought from Sports direct only 2 weeks ago. The WORST shoe ever , no padded insole you will need to buy insoles as the shoes are so hard they will last forever that’s because I’ll never wear them again . There is no padding in the heel area so now have blister plasters on both feet don’t waste your money they are cheap for a reason because they are awful !!!!

I hate leaving bad reviews

I hate leaving bad reviews. I want everything to be good that I've spent my hard earned money on. Sadly the Karrimore boots don't fit into the good category.
9 months in and the back has fallen off of one of the boots. They cost me £90 and not even lasted a year.
I'm so disappointed. Here we go again....LOOKING FOR GOOD WALKING BOOTS

Karrimor boots

At 81 with a mobility problem l have worn Karrimor boots for many years with only one failure 3/4’s of their life through. The rubber souls began to come adrift so l stuck it back with ‘Sticks Like erm Sugar’ and that saw them out to garden duty for another 6 months. Right now l have 3 pairs on the go in black, blue and my posh silver with yellow laces.

Bought a pair of Karrimor Journey…

Bought a pair of Karrimor Journey walking shoes from Sports Direct around 18 months ago. They have been worn a few times, but not excessively. First problem was realised very quickly - a heavy stitch through the centre line of the sole - this is so prominent it can be felt through the insole and caused great discomfort and blistering. Fortunately I was able to correct this with an additional thin rubber insole, improving the comfort and wearability.. Recently however, I have noticed stitching coming away in the outer leather seams - so it looks like these shoes are coming apart already. They are not particularly cheap so this is extremely disappointing. Before writing this review I searched on the reviews for this particular shoe and noticed someone else has reported this problem of cheap stitching being used in a fairly expensive product. Will not be buying any more Karrimor products.

Still excellent?

I've had Karrimor walking shoes since 2019. Not a lot of pairs, as not needed. First pair lasted until early 2024 with no issues. Bought two more in 2024, (as they're so comfortable I wear them everywhere), and one pair is nearly worn through the sole. However, our walking has now advanced and we literally climb mountains. These have been up Scafell Pike, Heron Ridge, Catbells to name a few and we now do a lot of hill walking near home, (Southdowns), so they've not had it easy. Can't fault the uppers. Still scrub up well, but four years to eighteen months? It's not like we didn't walk before, just not so much... off road if you like. I'm hoping it just is the more rugged terrain rather than inferior materials being used for the sole. We'll see.

Absolute nightmare

Absolute nightmare! Ordered a pair of walking shoes which were only shipped three days after ordering. Unfortunately, the sizing was not good so wanted to return them and re-order a different size. However, their website is not working for returns and despite sending a message via the site no one gets back to you. Will I be ordering from them again, NOT IN A MILLION YEARS.
Fortunately my credit card company refunded me after providing proof of the problems with this outfit.

An apartment in a backpack

In the trip I mentioned in another review (Scotland 2024) the backpack was the Karrimor SF Sabre 60-100l backpack.

The only downside I found is that it’s a bit heavy when empty, but you have to understand it’s a Bergen style backpack made for extremely heavy duty, with humidity proof threads, a heavy duty rain cover, an internal chassis able to support , in my case, over 27kg of weight, extremely durable yet easy to open and close YKK zippers. I tested it hiking solo for 2 weeks in Scotland with tent, tarp, sleeping bag, several changes of clothing, a book and some other stuff. I also bought the Yoke system, to use the 2 additional 12.5 liters pouches as a small backpack.

Never had an issue, I can trust my life on that backpack system.

Planning to buy a Modi 15 backpack as everyday use and for work.

I bought Hiking boots in 2023 that looked robust and was guaranteed waterproof(not resistant) Price was €125 REDUCED FROM €195. 2 months into hillwalking one boot leaked. Eventually 6 months both boots leaked. This was after taking great care to clean , stuff newspaper inside and seal with a waterproof compound -Grangers Wax and air dried . Not beside a fire . I bought another pair last week 2nd August 2025 , Cheetah WTX. I will observe performance .!! Brendan

Had a pair of karrimor trainers for years and was very happy so brought a pair of hiking boots last year. First time wearing them I stopped and the lace hooks stuck together causing me to fall them one broke. Tried to return to the sports shop I brought from via mail order ( I live in Shetland). Customer services arranged collection never turned up after numerous emails still nothing so decided I may as well wear them. Now I can only lace half way up due to more braking and as previous people have stated no longer waterproof. I will never buy this make again.

I echo many of the other reviewers' comments as I have for many years now always purchased the brand for quality, and durability. Sadly as with many top brands the quality and durability these days is often poor. I still have a good quality running top I bought many years ago which is still in good nick and is actually the size it says on the shirt! I recently ordered 2 Karrimor running tops but when they arrived the sizes were totally different not large but medium and the quality of the material was significantly less than my existing top, and the neck hole for my head was very small too. Shame but this seems to be the norm now.

These shoes were supposed to be…

These shoes were supposed to be waterproof they were not. I do walk a lot but feel they should have lasted longer than they did. The side seam split and then the sole detached. I thought I was buying a decent brand making quality goods. Don't buy these if you want decent quality.

when does waterproof cease??

I have had three pairs of Karrimor waterproof boots over several years. Every pair has ended up leaking, therefore far from waterproof.
The first two were not all leather and the seams split at the toe joints. My last pair were all leather uppers which parted company with the soles.
Bearing in mind that I only used them when walking the dog. Not climbing hills and braes of scree, and never on a daily basis, as I only wore them if it was raining, I have plenty of other shoes/sandals for fair weather walking.
I accepted that the first two pairs didn't cost a lot, but the leather ones were more costly, so I expected more of them. I always take care of my footwear and treat leather with great respect, i.e. dubbin or polish after use.
There is no mention of a time limit or guarantee on the Karrimor website or retail literature, Sport Direct just say I had the product for 18 months so it has nothing to do with them, although the boots are hardly worn.
Once bitten twice shy. More fool me for going in for a third time.
NEVER AGAIN!

Very disappointed with Karrimor

Very disappointed with Karrimor.

What has happened to this company…

I have always bought my rack sacks, walking boots etc from this brand as they were always brilliant, well made and lasted forever.

I bought some walking boots just over a year ago and they fell apart whilst I was on a trek.

I wrote to Karrimor to complain..After a long exchange of polite emails. They continuously told me I was out of warranty and there was nothing they could or would do.

Not, can we fix them for you, or give you a discount towards another pair. Shocking. What happened to customer service.

Very very very poor quality this was my second backpack from Karrimor will not be buying anything else from them again, shoes are too small their sizing fluctuates a lot so ordering on line is very risky getting in touch with them is impossible or deliberately made difficult. Should go back to manufacturing in the UK, my 1990 Karrimor rucksack is still going strong even after 6 months in the French & Swiss Alps.
