Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the product, specifically noting a decline in quality. They frequently reported that the coffee now tastes bland, weak, and watery, often describing it as having a "nasty" or "awful" flavor. Issues with the product not dissolving properly, leaving a powdery residue, were also commonly mentioned. Reviewers also highlighted changes in the recipe, with some noting a reduction in coffee content and an artificial, bitter aftertaste. This has led many long-time consumers to state they will no longer purchase the product and are seeking alternative brands.

Kenco 3-1 have been ruined by them…

Kenco 3-1 have been ruined by them halving the sachets! They were 20.4g a sachet now they are 12.6g which means it’s no longer the coffee we all preferred they’ve watered it down and ruined them. Classic companies changing something that didn’t need changing and ruining it! Typical! Not broken don’t fix it!

Conning customers by still being 100g but spread over 8 instead of 5 to charge for 8, with one tasting noticeably weaker.

The 3 in 1 coffee is noticeably weaker, and to confirm it I tried some of the old ones I still have and it not only tastes like its weaker, it has the bitter taste of artificial sweetener as well.

The 3 in 1's were my go to for work coffee, but no more, I have given away the rest of what I have of the new ones and will switch to something else when the original ones run out.

I suspected something was fishy when I saw the price increase with 3 extra, which sounded like a bargain, but saw the sachets looked different then right away it tasted more milky, bitter and bland like it used artificial sweetener, though I could see no mention of it on the ingredients. I also wasn't the only one who noticed as my work colleagues who i made coffee for said it tasted weak and like saccharin was used instead of sugar as it tasted bitter sweet and not in a good way.

update

I managed to get some of the old ones online and it seems they are double screwing their customers, they are charging more because they increased the sachets from 5 to 8, but the new ones have significantly less, they spread the 100g per pack over 8 and charged a premium for the extra plastic waste. 100g 5x20g vs 100.8 8x12.6g, Seems to me that they have no respect for their customers at all and are just using the increased number per pack to increase the price. Also explains why 2 sachets taste more like 1 old one, which would make it a pack of 4 for the price of 8.

horrible taste

I was obsessed with the kenco pods and loved the taste, they were the only pods I’d buy. Now when I drink their coffee it tastes horrible! I thought it was just me but after seeing the reviews, it’s not! All the kenco lovers are disappointed and will refuse to buy it until they bring back the old recipe!! It’s tastes like cheap instant coffee and I’m very unsatisfied. Please bring back the old recipe.

Why have you changed the recipe?!!

Why have you changed the recipe?? It takes AWFUL and l now can't buy it. I would have given 0 stars but that wasn't an option. If this was money driven l would have paid more - this new brand isn't worth anything and I'm sure you'll see sales plummet.

Why have you changed the taste of Kenco…

Why have you changed the taste of Kenco coffee? Used to be our favourite decaf. Bought a second jar just to be sure. Smells and tastes dreadful. Back to Nescafe. You are going to loose a lot of customers. Such a shame

Kenco coffee? Shameful rubbish!

I am absolutely incredulous at the rubbish Kenco smooth instant coffee has become. I came on line to see if anyone alse felt as I and my partner do, I’m glad to see that we’re not alone. It’s shameful to downgrade what used to be a decent product. I will never buy it again.

Why discontinue Kenco duo coffee pods??

I loved Kenco duo coffee pods but they were discontinued without warning - why? I have just bought & tried their new Millicano smooth latte. Their suggestion is 3-4 teaspoons per serving. After trying that & tasting zero coffee I then put 5 teaspoons in a small mug & still can hardly taste any coffee - horrible drink. Have given up with them now. Will change to a different brand

Have been buying KENCO rich coffee for in excess of 6yrs with no problem 😊. My last purchase from Asda of two jars, I couldn't believe it, it tastes and smells of the cheapest coffee imaginable. No warning no new recipe on jar or anything KENCO what are you playing at.

Can I please rate it less than 1 star?

If I could I would give it a negative (-5 stars)

I have bought and drank Kenco Rich Instant coffee (the one with the blue label) for years (I know instant, and all you fresh grind lovers are scoffing, but instant works in a thermos flask, grinds don't), anyhow; Kenco Rich has really turned vile, or should that be "evil" in its flavour. It used to be a beautiful taste as the name suggested 'Rich' in flavour, now its just a bitter mug of muddy water.

It tastes so foul I'd not even want to wash off my rigger boots in it that are covered in mud and such from working on construction sites.

I unfortunately have a whole jar left that I have unopened yet, and really don't want to open either. I know this much for certain. Kenco has lost another customer, and I won't be back no matter what they offer. Brand loyalty is a big deal to me, and I do not skrimp and save I pay for quality if the brand no longer has or ever had that quality I'm switching away. I could buy cheap coffee and I would expect this flavour as a consequence of buying cheap, but to pay a premium, and still get this 'dirty-water' offering from Kenco, that is "Hasta la vista baby" deal breaker.

If Kenco had to switch beans to reduce costs then they should have increased the price not cut the quality, that "drives everyone away", even the crazy wont stay around for disgusting flavour.

Kenco here's some advice from a nobody... Put the price up not the quality down, people will either keep buying because they love it or stop buying and realise they should come back and pay the extra for the quality. reducing the quality just pushes everyone away. No matter how rich or stupid with cash a person is, we all are aware of taste.
