Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 22 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant disappointment with the quality of the products, noting issues such as cushions losing shape, fabric pilling and fading prematurely, and leather cracking or peeling within a short period. Reviewers also felt that the pricing was too high for the quality received, often describing the furniture as "junk" despite its cost. The warranty process was a major source of frustration, with many reporting difficulties in getting repairs or replacements, and some even being told their issues were not covered despite paying for extended warranties. Some people were also dissatisfied with the service, experiencing long waits for repairs, unhelpful responses, and problems with incorrect orders or designs that clashed with their existing furniture.

Purchased a layboy sofa and chair from…scs blackburn

Purchased a layboy sofa and chair from scs, in November 2023,the most uncomfortable sofa I’ve ever sat on nothing like the comfort of the one in store, Ive complained to lazy boy but was advised to take my complaint up with scs as that’s were it was purchased they sent a technician out you have to straighten the fabric out every time you have sat on it as it creases really bad, the technician said there was nothing wrong with it and that it was in my care package about having to straighten the fabric something which I was not advised or made aware of on purchase, the technician then advised me that the one in the showroom might have been there 2 years or more and would be more comfy as used and that all new sofas needed breaking in, I told him I had had new sofas before which were comfy from day one, again not advised of any of this, scs have washed there hands of my complaint and told me I can take it up with consumer affairs, I paid good money for what I thought was a good quality comfy sofa, don’t touch lazy boy and don’t deal with scs there is no customer service or help I’ve e mailed them and had to chase up every e mail they even said they had not received my e mails even though they had replied to a couple and I had them in my inbox DONT BUY FROM EITHER OF THESE COMPANIES YOU WILL JUST WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Stay away!!! Other furniture stores deliver perfectly clean , this guys don’t care about customers once you paid them.

Very poor after sales service

Very poor after sales service. The only way to get replacement parts for La z boy in NZ is to make a warranty claim on a web site based form including photos of the faulty part/s. Took six days to respond with an email saying they needed photos to progress the claim (I'd already sent them in the original claim). I replied politely reminding them of that but attaching copies of the pics again. The only thing I've heard since is crickets chirping. In summary, slow, inefficient poor communication, couldn't care less.

Rushed sale, product off-gassing, multiple calls for refund.

Shopped at a local store in Pineville NC (outskirts of Charlotte). Rushed by salesman to "ensure quick delivery" by securing my sale. Can't see how many are available in the warehouse until the sale was complete. Hmm... I am 5 feet tall and wanted a chair suitable for my size. I decided I liked another chair better after already completing the sale on the first one I chose. Original sale reversed and purchased 2nd choice (Talladega) which salesman should have steered me away from since it is for people up to 6'3". The delivery process was the BEST part of the process (Premier, Nick & Tyler). When I decided I wanted to return the chair (the day after it arrived), it took me calling there 4 times (4 different days with messages left with human) before the return was completed by the manager. The chair was wobbly when reclined; felt like you could fall backwards. It was off-gassing unpleasant odors. Got an email with the refund receipt and pickup was scheduled for Tuesday 11/21. The email said refund would be applied to credit card when chair was back in their possession. Once again, I had to call to get them to complete the refund. Called on Saturday 11/25. Refund applied then but didn't show up as pending with my bank until 2 days later. Would NEVER shop with La-Z-Boy again. I got an email to post a review of the product. I posted my 1-start review on 11/20/23, and the review has YET to show up in the list of reviews...which you can sort by "most recent". I guess they only post the reviews that are satisfactory to them. Additional advice: do not be rushed with a major furniture purchase. If the salesperson is rushing you, think twice about shopping there.

Useless and Awful Service.

Myself and my 85 years young Aunt came to Lazy boy order some things we liked and got an email about free delivery. Because we did not know about the coupon the next day they did not accept the coupon because we did not have it with us at the time. How would we know that we were going to order some things and spent over $3000 almost and they refuse to adjust her order and she's spending a great deal of money and would not take off the $350.00 for delivery. They gave us such a hard time and never gave in. Gave us the wrong sofa. We asked for power recliner love seat and we were given a manual one and if we wanted to change it to power it would be over $1600.00 since it was a custom order. What a rip off, desperate for a sale so you are going to take advantage of Seniors. Such a disgrace. Not one Manager could help us. You do not know if you walk into a store if you are going to actually make a purchase. If you plan to walk into Lazy boy, make sure you have your free delivery coupon before going into that store because they will not give it to you once you place your order. Not to sure of the date right now but will never walk into a lazy boy store again. You know if you come back the next day they did not start on your custom order and they could have taken that coupon. Especially for the money you were spending. I dont want to give it 1 star, 0 star fits this complaint.

Their customer service people must hate their job

I truly feel bad for the customer service. They need to defend such an awful Corporation and I’m sure they know how bad they really are.
La Z Boy has turned into a garbage company. Their prices far exceed the quality of their chairs.
People reading this will likely have already purchased a chair and realized they’ve been duped and that’s precisely what the company relies on.
A $2700 chair with an extended warranty doesn’t cover screws breaking on the back, rendering the chair useless. I’ve had more service on my recliner than my car and they absolutely refuse to replace it. There needs to be a Lemon Law attorney that just files claims against LaZboy Garbage.
The chairs look nice, but the quality is no better than a Big Lots chair, sadly.
The springs are noisy, they refuse to refund used parts that were requested by their techs and you will be on the phone with customer service for at least an hour each time you call, it’s incredible. Given their absolute refusal to honor warranties and the poor quality of their recliners, it’s safe to say they may go out of business at some point. This kind of business usually isn’t sustainable, and I feel really sorry for the people that work there, they must REALLY hate their job.

Incorrectly ‘stuffed’ in Thailand

Bought 2 Recliner Rockers, nothing like the show room models! Deep creases in the back rest give the impression of well used even though they are a week old! Sent photos to the shop who forwarded them on to Lazyboy! The answer was they were incorrectly stuffed! They sent out the local repair guy who stuffed some more foam into them with no apparent change. The shop said that Lazy boy will not take them back and replace them! Terrible customer service

Problems with both fabric and leather products, avoid, avoid, avoid

Bought a fabric sofa from La-z-boy. After a week one of the cushions at thr back split. La-z-boy couldn't replace the cushion so instead replaced the sofa. The replacement came with a hole in it. La-z-boy couldn't replace so gave us a discount. We were very disappointed as we thought we were buying a premium product. Two years later my elderly father bought a leather recliner. Within 2 years the leather was peeling. Despite being under warranty La-z-boy dont want tonknow because we didn't buy the expensive leather conditioner to extend the warranty. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Lazy boy sofa

Lazy boy sofa . Told you should not use the head rest for your head .are they joking because of oil in your head caused leather to flake . The sofa is only 5 month old and cost £3860 .and then to be told its not cover by the 12 months warranty or the 5 year warranty. Absolutely heart broken .

AVOID AVOID AVOID

Bought a leather La z boy 3 seater recliner and a recliner chair from ScS in Oldham £5000 in total.
Within weeks the recliner on the 3 seater was clicking and juddering when it was being reclined, they came out to repair it (twice) a couple of weeks later had to get them out again for the padding on one of the arms of the chair it had gone completely flat, they didn't or wouldn't do anything about it was told it was because we were putting our arms on that side more than the other!!
Eight months down the line the leather has started peeling on the head rest of the chair but apparently that's down to us putting our heads against it???
The recliner on one of the seats on the sofa has dropped so it doesn't match the other 2 I'm presuming that's something we have done too as that seems to be the standard reply.
We have a leather 2 seater sofa (not a La Z boy) that we have had for over 20 years....not a mark on it, maybe we haven't been putting our arms/head on it as much?
Both ScS and La Z boy are complete jokes they have no interest in resolving any issues they're only interested when you're handing your hard earned cash over to them.
I would advise anyone looking to purchase a new suite to avoid both of these companies like the plague, overpriced and extremely poor quality.

Poor quality; abysmal customer service care

The loveseat was delivered damaged. The delivery man misled us. It took 4 months and three visits from Comfort Care and the damaged loveseat ended up with MORE damage from his attempts to repair the item. We took pictures along the way and kept the store manager updated. Now Comfort Care is stating WE damaged the item. Fraudulent store practices. We are seeking civil action.

Repairs take 2 months

I purchased a recliner that had the lift and vibrator in it. I made the purchase in 2017, and need these features for medical reasons. The control recently stopped working and needs to be replaced.
Lazy Boy no longer does their own repairs. They have outsourced this. There is a 2 month wait, and you have to pay $160 when you make the appointment - their per hour rate.
Very disappointing.

Our experience much like the July 25th…

Our experience much like the July 25th review. Bought a “leather” motorized recliner in 2017. Trusted it was leather and as satisfactory as previous Lazyboy purchases. The front arm panels began peeling this year and it is now a piece of junk. No one would even buy it in its present state. We are being given NO satisfaction from the store. They won’t even offer to fix it. We will never again shop at Lazyboy! More stress for a husband who has had a stroke and a cancer diagnosis in the same year.

Not Fit For Purpose

After having lazy boy for 14 months the leather has started to peel. Contacted retailer SCS who advised to make a claim of the peace of mind insurance I had purchased. Guess how that went...not covered. So contacted SCS and they sent out there so called professional who wrote on his report natural body fluid, but at time of visit commented that he did not think the leather had been finished properly 🤔 However this is not written in report. Contacted SCS today and they said as just over the year warranty nothing they can do. Had a bit of a rant and my case has been sent higher up the chain. Watch this space. The Saga continues, wish I had read the reviews prior to purchase. Two weeks later, chapter 2, email from SCS stating, as predicted, technicians report says accidental damage, surprise surprise, so requested a copy of the technicians report, ScS sent email saying report attached, nothing attached!! meanwhile submitted another insurance claim to the peace of mind insurance cover, stating accidental damage but no idea how I accidentally made leather peel, so will wait to see how that turns out, chapter 3 to follow hopefully soon. Chapter 3 response/decision from insurance I quote (the damaged has not occurred as a result of an accidental event and the policy does not provide cover for this). Meanwhile now on email number 4 to SCS asking them to send the technicians report that they forgot to attach!! So now gathering all evidence for ombudsman complaint...

Terrible furniture don’t buy.

By far the worst sofa and chairs I’ve ever owned, cheap shoddy workmanship, uncomfortable, poorly designed, the sofa has a massive gap in the middle that the remote control can fall down, this suite is only just over a year old and already were thinking of replacing it. The chairs can easily tip up, my 4 year old granddaughter has to be carefully watched if she sits on one as it’s not safe. if If I could leave no stars I would. Please read the bad reviews I wish I had.

Like other reviews here we also are being told bodily fluids caused the problem!!

Like other reviews here we had the leather on the headrest of a £1800 chair start peeling (it looks like paint that is peeling off!!). We were also told bodily fluids were the problem!!

Trading standards really need to look at all of this as people are being ripped off for sofas & chairs that are not fit for purpose!!

We bought two of the chairs and a sofa that we do not think are going to last two years and when you spend around £6000 you expect better than that!

Paid nearly £1,000 for leather armchair, leather started peaking, like paper. Excuse given 'body fluids'. Nearly 6 months later no response from this company! Overpriced, poor quality. Would never buy again from this company.

I wish I would have read these reviews…

I wish I would have read these reviews before I purchased from LZB. We were told that the chair we paid 2K for would be built in about a month. Fast forward six months, and still no chair.

I asked when it would be ready and was told they had no idea and that the fabric was on backorder. I asked if I could just choose a different fabric that they had in stock, and I was told no. They would make no changes. The sales associate was surly, rude, was not willing to work with us, and had zero empathy.

They would/could not give me a delivery date, so here I am stuck in LZB limbo. Now that I've read these reviews, I worry that a piece of garbage will eventually be delivered and I'll have no recourse to exchange or refund. Never again will I purchase from this company.
