Little train's of Austria what a fantastic holiday. Scenery is straight out of a picture book.
Driver's Paul and Lisa were great, as we're all the other passengers.

First of all a special thanks to John and Keiron from Llew Jones, great hosts and drivers. I'd met John before and travelled with Keiron before. They looked after us well, ensure we knew timings etc, ensured refreshments were available while on suitable road surfaces. It was John's last trip with Leger, after our last day I imagine he'll be very pleased no more passports needed in his next work.
What was I hoping for, having loved Rocamadour and the Dordogne I was hoping for small towns, good scenery and a gentle break in Belgium. Well I got that. Small Belgian towns, none of them too busy. We went down in size each day. We were incredibly lucky with the weather, okay during the day- rain in the evening and overnight on our 3 days out.
One base hotel in Bouillon for 4 nights, this does mean a longer journey on Day 1 and Day 5 (I'll describe the hotel at the end).
Day 2. Dinant was magnificent. Included a river cruise with a multilingual commentary. Citadel overlooking the town, cable car defunct, so if you want to get there 408 steps vertically up (and down). Colourful saxophones on bridge, birthplace of Adolph Sax, who invented the saxophone, free museum. Stunning church, inside and out. Easy town to walk around.
Then onto Brasserie Caracole Brewery, I'm not into beer but very interesting. Plenty of time for tasting and purchases. Steps everywhere including the entrance, so not for the less mobile.
Day 3 Le Roche en Ardenne & Bouillon. Church in High Street, restored after 1945 a real mixture 1593 font, modern copper and brass altar, fantastic 1980's stained glass windows. Access by inside stairs with hand rail. Definitely worth a visit.
Didn't reach the Castle steep access mainly on cobbles, no hand rails. Sculpture park by river. Battle of Ardennes Museum in the High Street, those who visited found it very interesting.
Afternoon in Bouillon. Good wander round, visited the Church. looked up at the Castle, walked along the river.
Day 4 Optional excursion to Durbuy. 15 minute amble into the centre, along a level surface. Went to very helpful Tourist Information. Map on back had a walking tour. Parc de Topiaries was great, 4.50 euros admission for senior, given an English factsheet. Cobbled uneven pavements with variable kerb heights.
When got back to Bouillon went and found chocolatier on other side of river.
Day 5 Home 5.30 departure, good breakfast bag.
Hotel de la Poste in the centre of Bouillon. This is where the holiday did not come up to expectations.
This tour is part of the Leger Signature Collection. Quote from Leger "our Signature Collection provide luxury hotels in spectacular locations, boasting excellent facilities, fine dining experiences and the very best standards of service"
The location was good, it was imposing, it had character but that was about it. It's described by Leger as having wheelchair access but even to get to the small lift, need to go up steps. Steps within the bedroom corridors, steps in the dining areas.
Meals. 31 of us, on three long tables. Up 2 sets of steps, 2 steps, then 6 steps.
Breakfast - buffet plenty of food, restocked when necessary. Area was difficult to move in. Then had to negotiate the steps, even for tea/coffee machine.
Evening Meal - shall we just say chaotic system for buying drinks. Set menu, no prior notification of what we were eating until we sat down. Everything already plated. Definitely not "the fine dining experience" that Leger referred to - more like well presented school dinner. At times we were also treated like children.
Room. I can only comment on mine. Compact, nothing exciting, overlooked a road, uneven creaky floor boards - my suitcase took it's own walk, drab curtains. Power point only one side of the bed. Wardrobe, desk, table, chair. There was a fridge and 2 complimentary bottles of water and a packet of local crisps. All in a time warp, definitely not up to Leger's Signature Collection description.
Did I enjoy my holiday - yes .

This holiday was amazing the pictures did not do it justice as they were far better in life than in a photo. Lisa and Paul who were our guides throughout the trip were brilliant and pointed out as much as possible for us to see. The views and sites were amazing and we had plenty of time to see and relax during each visit. The added tours were well worth the extra and enhanced our experience.
The only downside was hotel in Belgium, room was alright bathroom was very small couldn't get in there to use toilet or shower. So they moved me to a room with larger bathroom.

The outbound journey was fine with no problems, our Ibis hotel in Bethune Bruay looked good as were the reception, bar and breakfast area BUT once into our room it was a big let down with a dirty carpet, less space for clothes than other Ibis which I didn't think was possble -the main complaint though was that the airconditioning in all the rooms wasn't working and with the temperature at 30+ was unbearable. it was pointless opening the window as it was noisy and it just let even more heat in the room. The overworked staff were all friendly and helpful.
Our tour guide Andrew certainly knew the area we were in and had a lot of information but again with 30+ heat we could have been told some of the details on the coach as people were standing too long and were loosing concentration and wandering off. There should be a little bit of flexability for Andrew to adjust timings etc. Our drivers Chtris and Peter were excellent at the job but had zero social skills- had to be asked for drinks and when they did come down the bus all we were asked was" Drinks?" We don't want to be their friends but a bit of politeness wouldn't go amiss.
The journey home with Shearings was fine to start with but it became a nightmare at the first dropoff when we were told the replacement driver at Peterborough -we arrived at6:10-hadn't turned up so the power that be were organising taxis for the rest of our journeys home-then they actually found a driver! who was supposed to arrive at 7:10 then 7:40 and we actually set off at 8:05. I don't know if he wasn't very experienced but he was a bit erratic and missed turn offs etc but he did try his best.

Really informative and interesting trip to the Forgotten Battlefields tour centered on Loos and Arras. As a many times customer of Leger i was particularly impressed with guide Andrew Thornton, his knowledge and enthusiasm was impressive and enabled me to learn about this aspect of the Great War that i was unaware of. On the minus side the location of the Ibis hotel in Bethune Bruay was poor, a business/industrial park is no place to be based for 4 nights. Overall though the tour was excellent.

Easy booking process with Laura, very friendly and informative, nothing too much trouble

I really enjoyed this holiday apart from the last bit of the journey home, when we had to wait about an hour as a driver had to come to replace the one who did not turn up. Also the phone charger were I sat did not work so could not charge my phone while travelling, it did not have the blue light on neither.

A great trip away with my partner. This is our fifth time with Legers, the other travellers with us were friendly and welcoming where you spend the evenings socialising, the tour guide was informative, overall a good experience.
The down side was the drivers/crew, there was no interaction, not a lot of offering drinks even when you have been out in the heat for a while, very disappointing, minimal support given

Excellent from start to finish. Just returned from German fairy tales and Harz Mountains tour. Steve our driver managed our full party on his own for the week... he is a star. My husband had equipment to help with his disability and Steve was always helpful. When he left his coat on the inbound transit bus, the office responded rapidly and we retrieved it next day. Whenever I had a pre departure query I seemed to get through to the same gentleman on several occasions and he was so polite and helpful, it was a pleasure to speak with him. We are off to Poland for 14 days next week.......... can't wait!

Fantastic solo holiday with Leger on Luxuria coach for Little Trains of Spectacular Austrian Tyrol tour. First time with Leger. I was fully aware of necessary travel time required on coach; the information given by Leger, my common sense and research showed the evident distances involved. Very pleased with variety of excursions on the 12 day trip. The main hotel - Sonnschein, Niederau, Austria 🇦🇹 was excellent. Loved the outdoor swimming 🏊♀️ pool.
The icing on the cake was Lisa and Paul, the coach drivers and tour guides. They were outstanding. A very high standard throughout showing professionalism in a friendly, caring and thoughtful manner. Their knowledge and clear explanations were also exemplary. I now look forward to a Leger trip booking with Lisa and Paul in the future. Thank you 🤩 for great memories of a lovely holiday. 🤗🍀

Fantastic holiday! Lisa and Paul were excellent, the organisation was seemless. Hotels were great, apart from the last night in Brussels which wasn’t of the same high standard. The scenery was beautiful and all the optional trips were well worth the cost.
I will definitely being going on holiday with Leger again

The telephone representative was very chatty and friendly. He I mmediately put us at ease and answered all our questions patiently, allowing us time to make decisions. He helped to explain the seating options available on the coach and was knowledgeable about the trip we were interested in. (Particularly ensuring that as ‘older’ travellers, we could cope with the many steps we would encounter on our chosen holiday).
He never rushed us through the ‘legal jargon’ or the terms of the offered travel insurance - which we also added to our booking.

Other than a minor hiccup when we weren’t picked up at our allotted time, but a phone call sorted out the issue within minutes, every part of our trip was most enjoyable. The driver Steve was courteous and helpful on every level, which considering he didn’t have a co-driver for the majority of the trip was way beyond what was expected. Steve deserved a medal and is definitely an asset to the company.
Booking was easy and the holiday to The Harz mountains was spectacular, the drivers knowledge of the area was outstanding.

small print on some screens not clear enough. eg. When asked for names of customers the note that "it must match passport" was in small print, necessitating a second round of input.

Matt and Mark made the entire experience great. Especially looking after all while having to wait for the Eurotunnel trains - three hours going and four and a half hours coming home. Plenty of time for the duty free! The hotel was good apart from breakfast on the first day which was horrendous due to a coach full of Germans departing and filling the breakfast room. the hotel could not cope. But each morning after that it was fine, a good selection of food available.
