Highly Professional

We have been clients of Maine for over five years and are very happy with them. We appreciate the experience & professionalism of our account manager Keith McMahon who is excellent. I'm conscious of being miss sold equipment or tied into expensive contracts. I recently met with Keith to run through options for renewing our equipment and adding a Docuware workflow solution and he was well prepared, taking time to go through the various costs and pros & cons. That's why, when it comes to renew, we will use them again

Avoid at all costs!!!

Called them on Monday morning with an issue with our Xerox machine; agreed a price and was told that if we paid the invoice immediately an engineer would be with us the next day. Great so far. Invoice paid straight away and waited for the engineer to arrive on Tuesday. Nobody turned up. Calls went unanswered all day.
Called again on Wednesday but it wasn't possible to speak to anybody who could help; was assured callbacks but none came. Eventually spoke to somebody late on Wednesday who confirmed we were on the list for a visit next day. Not ideal and pretty poor service, but okay.
9am next day their "service manager" called to say they wouldn't be coming and couldn't come for at least a week, so they would refund our money.
Essentially we've been repeatedly lied to and have wasted 4 days, within which we could have found an alternative company.
Appalling customer service (i.e. no service at all); and only interested in grabbing your money. Do not trust this company at all....you will be wasting your time.

Unhelpful, rude staff.

Called to ask if they stock toner cartridges and the person cut me off before I could finish speaking with a short "No not us". Clearly not interested in what I had to say and it was too much to ask for them to offer a polite "I'm sorry we don't".

A real disappointment

As a new customer I was asked to pay in advance. That was a mistake. Having made payment there followed radio silence for several days. When I chased I was told I had “dropped off the system”. I was assured I would be visited the next day. After another day of fruitless waiting I chased again and was informed that no engineer was available and now they could not guarantee any visit in the next few days. I have at least been told my payment will be reimbursed although I’ll believe it when I see it.

They take the grief out of life!

I have been with this company as a customer for nearly thirty years. I started with the company by buying a fax machine and gradually went through to photocopiers, a phone system, printers and multi-function machines.
I've stuck with them for hardware and servicing because I get a rolls royce service and can always depend on them. I have in the past used other companies for cars, phones etc and have 'on occassion' had horrendous problems. Nowadays if I find a company, who take the grief out of life for me, then I just stick with them, which is what I do with Maine. I am very happy with them and would readily recommend them.

I BLAME MAINE …

I warn against anyone using this company for office equipment. It's not just because their professed service standard of 4 hours call outs on copiers I think was never or hardly met over several years with them and frequently their engineers could not fix the problem without coming back sometimes several times but for another good reason
Beware their small print. In my opinion, they craftily put in deep into their small print that if you then bring their contract to an end ( which must be by recorded delivery ) that they retain ownership of the drums. However, they will not offer to take the copiers away so you fall into the trap of having to pay for them on copiers that are at the end of their life and you have to pay for someone to take away. Beware their charm and get everything recorded and check the small print!

Outlandish contractual terms and shady lock-in behavior

It's a great sadness that some IT companies still think abhorrent contractual terms are the best way to monetise relationships with their clients. My contract with Maine PLC featured a clause in the small-print that explained:
1. the contract would auto-renew
2. in order to cancel the contract we had to notify them in writing
3. the notification of termination had to be received 90 days before the contract's end date
4. Maine would not be bound to publicise this auto-renew date

No email or written warnings are sent out about the auto-renewal date. During phone conversations prior to the renewal date no verbal warning or reminder is given. After the auto-renew date an invoice is issued, at which point it's too late to cancel the contract.

I recognise that IT companies with high capital costs can do their best work when they've got good foresight of their clients intentions around renewal, but how is forcing IT support clients to renew services they would like to cancel in the consumer's interest? Indifferent, expensive printer support and teams of 'credit controllers', chasing down any client not smart enough to diarise next year's auto-renewal date, make Maine PLC a company I shall never do business with again. Strictly speaking there was no sign of "malicious intent", so this is not a 1-star review, though I would qualify this as an unacceptable and unreasonable experience in my judgement.

Copier breakdown

The copier at work went belly a week ago and this company fixed it....we have used them for a couple of years and they are fast and efficient so I told the guy I would review them.

So many companies give awful service nowadays....particularly the ones that send their call centres abroad.....am I the only one that can't stand the poor service?
