The pen that I received appeared to be used and the clip is broken off (the screw hole for the clip appears to be chipped and stripped out). Unfortunately, without this piece in place, the pen does not function — the mechanism at the top just spins freely and does not operate to advance the cartridge from the barrel. There was also ink on the tip of the pen and barrel, and all inside of the cork drop stand. Very bad quality control for this price point.

Customer support was initially responsive and asked for pictures, and even offered a replacement. But then when the time came for them to actually send the replacement, they disappeared and said “we are looking into this for you and will get back as soon as we got an appropriate solution to your issue.” Seems a bit odd, as they had already offered a replacement, but seemed to have had a change of heart. They were happy enough to quickly take my money, but it seems that they are less eager to actually stand behind their products.

I was looking forward to purchasing more of their products, after having spent around $400 already, but I can’t say that I will be doing that any longer.

Ease of ordering. QUALITY of products. Thorough follow-up from order to delivery.

Everything is fine, product well received. The only thing is that, the package is too big, I can be shopped simply with an envelope.

My brass Hovel was shipped quickly and packaged well. Thank you Makers Cabinet. I love it and I used videos to learn how to use it. Takes a bit of practice but well worth the time. I use it for pastel pencils that can be tricky to sharpen. The Hovel makes it easy and doesn't eat up my expensive pastel pencils.

I am the proud new owner of the Lazlo pen from makers cabinet. As a bit of a pen nerd, I am really quite picky in my choice of writing instruments. This ballpoint rollerball pen ticks a lot of boxes for me.

I went for the Anodised Aluminium version because I prefer a lighter pen, although the brass version looks stunning. This pen has a superb balanced feel and is lovely to hold. The design is very well thought out, with the very slight widening of the grip section. It's only a millimetre or so but the visual effect makes a welcome change from the tubular metal pens out there. The mechanism, which uses neodymium magnets is very satisfying for a pen fiddler.

The refill is very smooth but is a little too broad for my liking. I have replaced it with a Schmidt Extra Fine tip, making this an excellent tool for precision work.

The pen arrives in a brand printed cardboard tube with a nice cork pen stand included. With fast delivery and excellent communication, I can't recommend the Lazlo pen enough.

I had a problem with my V1 Lazlo, which I bought through their Kickstarter campaign. The pocket clip screw chewed through the aluminium body. Probably an error somewhere in the manufacturing process. The screw kept falling out of the pen's body along with the pocket clip. No amount of Loctite or teflon tape would help. I could use the pen with a makeshift solution of a slightly larger screw without the pocket clip and a small amount of invisible tape - that was really finicky, and only usable at a desk. The tip would retract with a slightest wrong move, rendering it almost unusable anywhere else on the move.

BUT! Then I contacted Makers Cabinet team. They assured me that they're working on a new version of Lazlo, which should fix this problem, and that they would take care of my problem after the release of that new version.

Lo and behold! Makers Cabinet delivered!

I received the new and improved Lazlo V2. It is all that V1 should have been, and more!
The new ink insert is wonderful! The ink flows with basically no pressure needed. The grip part basically stayed the same. That pocket clip is now as sturdy as ever. I didn't do any destruction testing, but I believe it should withstand any urban damage us city folk might think up in our daily lives. The mechanism now feels even better, smoother, and more addictive than the already unique, and addictive one in the V1. Maybe the grooves in the rotating top portion have slightly more grip, but that might be placebo, though.

This is a big part of delivering new concepts to the world - small problems like this get resolved to get closer to the dreamed up product. While not letting us, the customers, down.
That dream product being Lazlo V2 with its smooth action, and comfortable writing experience with no unexpected retractions of the insert.
The same thing applies to other dreamy products by Makers Cabinet, though.
