Previously used Malcolm C Foy with great results however this time was not good, conveyencing dealt with by Jill McKay was a disaster, many mistakes made including sending emails to the wrong person and fobbing off complaints with the comment "people make mistakes", not good enough.

Anna has been fantastic throughout. Moving house is stressful and our process was very long (9 months). Throughout she had great communication and answered any questions that we had as first time buyers with no clue what we were doing. After all I heard about solicitors before, this was put to bed by Anna. Fantastic and highly recommend to anyone.

I have had the pleasure of instructing Anna Betteridge on multiple house purchases and sales over the years and have always been impressed by her attention to detail. My most recent sale/purchase was unfortunately marred by many delays, some particularly tricky bits of legislation and poor communication between the other solicitors (absolutely not on Anna’s part), but she persisted and kept me updated throughout. I suffer really badly with anxiety and as we all know, buying and selling houses is one of the most stressful things you can do (!!), and I do believe she accommodated for this wonderfully, doing all she could to reassure me and keep me grounded in reality when I started spiralling into worst case scenarios! It did really feel like she was on my side and now I’m in my new home I am so unbelievably grateful. I found their prices to be really reasonable and the quality of work excellent. Would recommend to anyone buying or selling in Yorkshire.

I have come across some positive reviews on this platform, although my personal experience with Malcolm C Foy & Co, particularly with Donna Moore, the "Head of New Build Property," and her assistant Kelly Jones, was quite disappointing. I feel compelled to share my experience in the hope that it provides constructive feedback for improvement. Most positive reviews are short and meaningless to some extent, so I am unsure how much they actually represent reality.

Regrettably, my interaction with Donna Moore and Kelly Jones was not in line with the professional standards I expected. Communication was lacking, and there were instances of perceived rudeness. Rather than fostering a collaborative atmosphere to gather necessary paperwork, their approach seemed more authoritarian, using threats and treating us as though they were the clients, and we were the service providers. Unfortunately, by the time this behaviour became apparent, we had already committed to their services, having paid a substantial portion of the fee, making it financially impractical to switch providers—a tactic that seems to be exploited.

What was particularly frustrating was the absence of clear communication regarding the reasons behind certain requests that appeared unrelated to the matter at hand. Instead of providing explanations, demands and threats were issued, creating an uncomfortable dynamic. It became evident that our interests were not being prioritised, but rather, their own.

I acknowledge the challenges of finding a reliable solicitor, and I am mindful that experiences can vary. However, based on my personal encounter, I would exercise caution when considering Donna Moore, Kelly Jones, or anyone associated with Malcolm C Foy & Co.
