Its a very disappointing and very …
Its a very disappointing and very stressful experience with Marquardt in general and especially in Rotterdam. We ordered our kitchen in this store because they sold us a story of high quality kitchen with attractive prices for granite countertops. To start with, the sales person, Hamid, made so many mistakes in measurements that we had to check ourselves multiples times, every single item to make sure that everything was in order. He quoted us a price for the full kitchen and then he realized that he forgot to include the faucet (after we spent 30 mins selecting the faucet!). Now we have to buy our own faucet. We signed the purchasing agreement mid September and agreed that the kitchen should arrive 10 weeks later (December 1). The manager, Adnan, assured that the kitchen will be delivered on time and we have nothing to worry about. Time passes by and they sent the measuring expert only on November 3rd to measure our kitchen (after we reminded them multiple times). A week after, they sent us an email saying that probably there will be a delay in delivery without exact reasons and timing except that the manufacturer in Germany is very busy. Another week passes by and we get a call from the manager of Marquardt in the Netherlands, Leroy, who informed us that our kitchen can only be delivered the second week of January (16 weeks after we signed the contract!!!) and he came up with a story that a kitchen manufacturer in Germany, Alno, became bankrupt and that there is a law in Germany that other manufacturers have to pick up the orders of the bankrupt company. This is a complete lie as we drove to Marquardt in Germany and asked about the situation. This law does not exist and if we ordered from Germany, the kitchen would have been ready in 5-6 weeks. So not only they messed up our order an put into the system very late (we are still not sure if our order is in the system now), but they also lied to us, trying to cover up their mistakes. For us, the timely delivery of the kitchen was a critical factor when selecting the company, because we have completely removed the old kitchen in our new apartment and were working on complete renovation. We wanted to move to our new house before Christmas, but now it becomes impossible and we have to vacate our current place, because we agreed to move out before Christmas. Now we are stuck with no kitchen for holidays in our new apartment, our Christmas and New Year plans are totally screwed (placing a temporary kitchen would only create additional problems, damaging the interior). Then when we filed a complaint to Germany, Leroy called us and tried to arrange something. We got a phone call from a counter producer in The Netherlands that we immediately needed to come by to select /check the counter! Marquardt's selling story was that they pride themselves with their granite plant in Germany and now it turns out that its just a supplier from Tilburg??? Its lie after lie with this company and till today they have not provided us with the exact date of the kitchen placement postponing our move by almost 2 months which becomes extremely costly for us. If you want to put yourself through dealing with incompetent people, total chaos and uncertainty, then this is definitely the company to go for... I will be posting updates with further developments as we feel the responsibility to make other potential buyers aware of what they can expect when they order the kitchen through Marquardt.
