What a great service

What a great service. The app was very easy to use. The contact centre were on point and dealt with all my issues straight away. The payment was done extremely quick. Very good service. Would recommend it to anyone needing for a quick sale.

It’s really easy

Started the process on Tuesday afternoon (taking a few photos and giving a bit of information) taking about 20 minutes. Received a bid for the car on Wednesday afternoon and they arranged to collect it on Friday. Looked it over, took a ten minute test drive and the money was transferred to my account before it was driven away. Very happy with the price and the whole procedure.

Great for selling - but paperwork requested a nightmare

The valuation and subsequent auction of the car were quick and satisfactory. However, the repeated requests for paperwork, sometimes already submitted, were draining. I was warned about this by friends who had already used Motorway. They were also slow in releasing the name of the dealer who bought my car - who happened to be the firm that originally sold it to me new and serviced it throughout my 8 years of ownership! Once the car was inspected and collected, I had the money in my bank account before the car was driven away.

Sold my car in an auction-they cancelled it!

Sold my car in an auction, for a good price. Accepted the offer, upload all the docs, agreed collection. Motorway cancelled the deal. Absolutely shocking

Very happy seller

Kyle at Motorway assessed my car and gave me an estimated price on the phone, which was what I got in the auction the next day.
The buyer picked the car up this morning and the whole process was super easy with no problems.
Very happy with the service.

Could have been better

Getting the car listed easier than Carwow, but they were a bit pushy once the car sold with calls and messages all in one hit. Not easy to speak to them when I wanted to. Getting the car collected was a pain. The 3rd party company had zero communication skills. They booked it in for an afternoon appointment then turned up first thing, luckily we were in.

Not the best experience but could have been worse I guess

Great People - bad tech

The associates on the phone were great and helped immensely- the tech used to ingest documentation was quite bad and i had to share documents several times that delayed the eventual time to close the deal

Great app, process and service

Whole process end-to-end was very comprehensive and smooth. The step by step instructions were timely, comprehensive and clear. The process feels very secure and the car dealer easy to deal. First class.

Response to Motorway

Thank you, Saj, for your detailed response. Unfortunately, it appears to answer a question I wasn’t actually asking.

I understand perfectly well that an initial valuation can change after the vehicle has been inspected and that defects, service history and cosmetic condition can affect the eventual selling price. That was never the point of my complaint.

The rather more interesting issue is what happened afterwards.

I explicitly instructed Motorway to withdraw my vehicle from sale.

Despite this, I have subsequently received a remarkable succession of communications from Motorway, including:

• An email telling me that you needed further details “to continue the sale of my vehicle”.

• Another telling me that my vehicle was “nearly ready to go into our next daily sale”.

• Requests to retake photographs in order to “attract the highest offer”.

• Further emails telling me that you were still waiting for those photographs, accompanied by helpful tips on how to take them.

• Telephone calls asking me to contact Motorway about the vehicle I had already withdrawn.

In fact, I have continued to receive calls and emails from Motorway at the rate of approximately three or four a day.

All of this occurred after I had clearly told Motorway to pull the vehicle.

Meanwhile, the Motorway app has continued to display a valuation for the car, which subsequently reduced to £13,851 — despite the fact that the vehicle was no longer being offered for sale.

So I am afraid the detailed explanation of why an estimated selling price can differ from an initial valuation rather misses the rather large elephant in the room.

My complaint is not simply about a difference in valuation. It is about the extraordinary disconnect between what I have told Motorway and what Motorway’s various departments and systems appear to believe is happening.

I now have an Escalations Specialist investigating the matter, while another part of Motorway is apparently preparing the same withdrawn vehicle for its next daily sale and asking me to improve the photographs.

I couldn’t make this up if I tried.

As for the explanation regarding your agents and Motorway being a multicultural employer, I am slightly puzzled as to why this has been raised. My concern has never been where your employees are based or what their backgrounds are. It is whether the various parts of Motorway are actually communicating with one another.

I have kept the emails and screenshots, so there is no question of misunderstanding what has happened.

At this stage I am genuinely looking forward to seeing what your investigation concludes.

Perhaps, once the investigation is complete, someone could explain the one question that your response hasn’t yet answered:

Why was Motorway continuing to prepare and attempt to sell a vehicle after I had explicitly instructed Motorway to withdraw it?

I await the next instalment of “we’re looking into it” with considerable interest

Received much better offer than other…

Received much better offer than other platforms including the dealership I bought my new car from.
Process was pretty straight forward although I would have liked being able to edit/update my listing before submitting for the live auction, maybe it is possible but I couldn't see how.
The sale took two weeks from the auction date rather that the estimated 6 days but this was down to the buyer not Motorway. When the buyer turned up, the sale was completed in about an hour, including money in my account and the tax and owner transfer process.
Bear in mind that the buyer will renegotiate the offer on the day unless your car is 100% pristine or you have listed every single blemish.
