Poor Customer service with mediocre film titles.

Purchased one week for free. Was then offered 3 months for £1.00. MUBI then charged me £11.99 a month for three months as well as debiting my account for £1.00. Have attempted to contact customer services: no response. Have cancelled my subscription to be told I will have to pay for 3 months. No support or anyone to talk to. Will now have to contact my credit card company to dispute the charges. Film selection is fine but not that interesting. Will avoid this platform and recommend others to avoid it as well.

Highly deceitful and customer unfriendly

Mubi offered a deal, advertising certain film titles (The Substance, Zone of Interest etc) that persuaded me to subscribe. Afterwards, it turned out that these films were not available in my country Portugal, while the advertising was targeted to Portugal. After contacting customer service, where I was given a detailed guide on how to browse, I was explained that Mubi is also database platform which does not mean the movies they advertise with are also streamable. This is simply deceiving advertisement. Since I have already watched a film, they could not stop my subscription before my subscription expires. Their marketing is misleading, customer service patronising and my subscription completely disappointing.

It doesn't work!

I signed on for a month free promo deal. I watched THE SUBSTANCE but I had to use my laptop because the Mubi app would not load on my smart tv.
The next night all I could get was subtitles on a black screen with no sound. The night after I tried again with a different film. This time all I could get was audio & subtitles on a black screen.
Their customer service is virtually non-existent. You have to send a message & they will get back to you within 72 hours. I never heard from them.
A great selection of films but It simply doesn't work!

Total disappointment

Total disappointment. I watched The Substance through a promotion done w New York Times. Canceled after that, based on the fact that I couldn't find the movies I wanted in a database - it was more like "wait until they show up, here's what we currently show." Even with proper cancellation, they still billed me monthly! Incredible! Had to contact Amex and put a block on them. Never again!

I forgot to cancel the subscription…

I forgot to cancel the subscription after signing up. We were charged month after month for over a 2 years even though we only watched one film, and that was on the day we signed up. Upon receiving my complaint, Mubi issued me a refund for 2 months of service fees and free access for a year.

Mubi has the right to charge monthly as per their agreement. That stated, it seems to me that they count subscribers to make similar mistakes as the one I made, otherwise they would offer a refund when it is quite obvious that the subscriber is not using their service.

Fraud Is Their Standard Operating Procedure

I took a free trial with this company, and cancelled before the trial was over, having watched a whopping three movies. They offered a longer trial, or a reduced rate to continue subscribing, I refused and cancelled. Their system "accidentally" kept charging me for 8 months, totaling $135.92. When notified, they claimed I didn't cancel and offered a measly two payment refund. A quick Google search will show that this "mistake" happens dozens upon dozens of times. It's baked in to their system, as they know most people won't catch the debits right away (me), and of those that do, some won't contest it (not me). Thankfully my bank takes fraud like this seriously, so I'll be getting my refund through them, but this company cannot be trusted. Avoid at all costs.

Absolutely appalling customer…

Absolutely appalling customer service... you contact MUBI and they just don't reply to your e-mails. They have no means to contact them by phone. They are a disgrace. Be very aware that they do not take any interest in their customer base, once someone has taken out a subscription.... they then just leave you to hang if you have any problems whatsoever.

Hey Mubi.
I pay every month and i can lock in at my account but your site say i dont have a subscription. I have try to reset my code but i dont get an email back from you. i get monthly updates from mubi so you have my mail. Mubi draw 13,27 euro from my account every month.
What is wrong?
This is second message i write you. The first one was 5 days ago.
I love your collection but as long you do not respond to my request i can not give you five stars.

Please don’t join them

Please don’t join them. I started a 7 day trial and ended up canceling it later that same day. Was not interested in the movies they showed. They had the nerve to charge me for the next month. Despite emails sent to them, thet ignored me. Don’t join. Impossible to cancel

Chaotic

The new interface and general navigations are horrible. It was better when they had one new film every day, and only 30 "now showing". Now there´s too many films at display without grouping them into genres. I've no idea if there are new films and if so, where they are. Also, I cannot remove films I have started to see, but stopped because I didn´t like them, very irritating. Not good!

MUBI SUCKS

MUBI SUCKS! I got the one month subscription and cancelled before the first month was up.......that was June of 2024. After cancelling every month since I finally contacted my bank and had them put a "Quit Payment" on the account. I have NEVER had such a hassle with a supposedly legitimate company. Very angry/frustrated!!!

Increasingly disappointed with limited choice of movies. Huge and interesting catalogue that is almost never available. The best is not the latest or weirdest. If it doesn't improve fast I will not be renewing and I know of many of a like mind
