I am sad to say this was the worst food…
I am sad to say this was the worst food I've ever eaten in my entire life. I can't believe I didn't find these reviews when I tried to research them. I'm pissed that I didn't but what can I do? Do not order any food from this company. It is disgusting. Not edible. Not good, not healthy and certainly not something you're going to enjoy.
The food quality is good
The food quality is good, reviews here are harsh. I just ate one in my freezer after 6 months, still good. And I have tried at least 5 other companies, all others were full of sodium and heavy sauces. Once you set orders not to come automatically, no problems.
Do not buy from this company
Do not buy from this company. The quality of food is horrible. Customer service is not existent. I have ordered from several meal service companies and this one is by far the worst I have dealt with.
If you’re thinking of joining this…
If you’re thinking of joining this company, thanks again once they have your credit card they will continue charging you even after you’ve tried to cancel the subscription. They continuously ask you to verify who you are. Do yourself a favor and just look somewhere else.
Absolutely the worst customer service
Absolutely the worst customer service. Delivery 48 hours late, the food looks nothing like the marketing photos. Unauthorized charges on my credit card… An awful company to do business with. Run don’t walk away from!
RUN NOT WALK FROM METABOLIC MEALS
This company is a complete and utter scam.
This is a hidden subscription service that you cannot get off of. The customer service is horrible and you literally have to cancel your card to get away from them.
I haven’t ordered in awhile
I haven’t ordered in awhile. Only meal program, to my knowledge, dedicated to gluten free and great food! When I had an issue with order showing up thawed, it was possibly due to weather in transit and I was offered refund or replacement. It is difficult to reach someone LIVE but when I did, they seemed family oriented and considerate of me. I miss these meals. My IBS/inflamed colon calmed. I got to eat some foods that previously caused severe cramps. I think their chef must work diligently to balance each meal out and keep the needs of customers in mind.
They let me skip and adjust meals as long as it was prior to deadlines.
Only reason I didn’t choose 5 stars is reaching them can be challenging.
They work with you.
FYI I appreciate that most spices, salt, pepper is limited so I can add or not add any. For sensitive eaters, this is a Win Win! If its bland to you, grab some herbs, spice and personalize it!
Meals weren't all that great
Meals weren't all that great. Then when I went to cancel, they intentionally hid the page were you can cancel. This pissed me off even more. They won't get anymore of my money.
Charged for a subscription that I didn't authorize
I ordered meals from this service on the impression that this was an order as you go service, not a subscription. I did not agree to a subscription. I was subsequently charged over $120 for meals that the service just decided to send me. I am diabetic and the meals that were automatically sent go way over my allotted carbs per meal. I asked for a refund and got what is almost certainly an AI generated reply that basically told me tough luck, they would not refund the charges. I followed directions and was able to cancel my subscription. They then had the gall to tell me that I can order more meals on an as you go status WITHOUT being subscribed.
Mediocre Food - Horrible Customer Service.
Food is not great. Customer service is horrible.
Like many other shady companies they force you into a subscription.
My problem with this is before my first order arrived, they processed a second order for the next week...just picking random meals I did not want.
I contacted them 2 minutes after receiving this charge, this was on a Wednesday Morning for an order shipping the following Monday. I asked them to please cancel that order as I wanted to try the food first.
They refused to do so and offered no help at all.
Metabolic Meals - Go Elsewhere
Metabolic Meals is a front for a company healthspan foods. The food is okay and the macros seems to work. The delivery ordering is deceptive. If you need to skip an order or two, you think by not putting food in the cart and checking out that you are okay, but they just send you a box of whatever no one else ordered. Food you would never choose, food that arrives when you are not there to get it. It's not clear in their sign up or ordering process. You can get healthspan foods elsewhere with customer service that is better and responsive.
Bait and switch
Bait and switch. They sign you up for some kind of subscription and after the first order they send you a large bunch of stuff you didn't order and charge you a lot of money. Customer service is a joke. No way to get any of your money back. And the meals aren't that great either. Don't waste your time and money here.
Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service. I missed the cancellation date and time by just a few hours, and they refused to refund me the $127 they charged to my credit card !! The email customer service is atrocious, and I'm sure is AI generated---it is NOT a real person. I asked over and over to talk to a real human and was told by email that I had to schedule the call the next day!!! Food---portion sizes are small and don't look like the pictures on their website. Overall-----STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AS THEY HAVE NO INTEREST IN PROVIDING KIND, SYMPATHIC CUSTOMER SERVICE!!
Very Positively Impressed with Metabolic Meals
After two deliveries from Metabolic Meals (henceforth referred to as "MM"), I will continue ordering from them.
Although not gourmet fare, the meals are well-prepared, tasty and perfectly proportioned for me.
I was very impressed by their customer service. Prior to ordering I wrote to them to find out what type of olive oil they use, asking if it is "pomace" olive oil. This is the last pressing mostly used for industrial purposes. Two of the top meal delivery services I tried and really disliked use pomace "olive oil". It was horrible to the point to making me sick. The MM customer service agent wrote back to me within an hour. She actually seemed a bit insulted by my question, which made me chuckle.
I was not required to give MM my credit card number before choosing the meals. There are too many companies who do just that. I just ran across one I was going to try as a comparison who does charge customers for their first order without a final approval.
My MM orders have arrived right on time, with the box wrapped in plastic, and left on dry ground. I suspect that MM pays extra for our legendarily bad delivery service, which left boxes from the other meal service companies in mud puddles, unprotected, in driving rain.
To my surprise, I actually feel better after having the MM dinners. Prior to this experience, I considered the current "gluten free" preoccupation to be just another fad.
I thought that my increasingly bad reactions to the breads I had been eating for years to be linked to the preservatives that have been steadily increasing in prepared foods since the start of Covid. That is surely part of it. But obviously not all in my case.
My only complaint about this service is that the boxes are rather heavy. They are obviously concerned with the meals arriving safely with no chance of becoming too warm. I rather wish that they would use dry ice rather than ice packs, but at least they arrive cold!
The last very positive aspect for me is that my exceedingly picky, spoiled, and elderly Maltipoo loves whatever I leave for her. She has always eschewed offerings with regular pasta, but loves the gluten-free. Who knew? (-;
I tried ordering a one time purchase
I tried ordering a one time purchase. Their online ordering process makes it seem like that is an option. I wanted to try the meals before committing to a subscription. Unbeknownst to me they put me into a weekly subscription. I tried canceling and requesting a refund for the charges after the initial order and not only did they not cancel it but they charged me for another order. Their phone number goes to nobody. It’s terribly frustrating. They clearly mastered the art of misleading customers.
Stay away from this company
Meals were bland in taste and were small in portions. They help you lose weight by starving you. Its not science. Several of the meals did not have an attractive look to them with slimy chicken that appeared undercooked. The website is deceiving stating no commitment but they'll bill your card and bill it for more whenever they can. Customer service is nonexistent.
I would advise against using this…
I would advise against using this service. The meals are lack luster.
Trying to find out how to cancel is hidden within their website. They randomly select you nasty meals if you don’t go in and “skip the week”. It works well for them that way as they still charge you.
After I cancelled they told me I could go subscription-less and not have to worry about forgetting to skip.
I’ve not heard anything from customer service despite them stating most emails are responded to within 30 min.
I used the promotional offer for a…
I used the promotional offer for a first time customer and waited 7 days for my food. The first meal indicated grilled chicken and tortellini. The flavor was good, however, the chicken had no signs of being grilled, just a white piece of chicken meat. It was tender but the presentation didn't match the description. The 2nd meal was Steak and Potatoes that was mushy roast beef with mushy potatoes. I have not tried the other meals and need to eat 4 additional meals by 2/25 and today is 2/18. I could freeze them but I'm afraid this will degrade the flavor even more. I am so glad I used the promotion that cost $61.07. The reorder would have been around $80 plus $20.00 shipping. Yikes. I've tried many of the meal kits and by far, this one was the worse flavor. Also so much packaging to dispose of.
The meals we okay but not that great
The meals we okay but not that great. The packaging was ridiculous. I don't have enough space to throw it all away. I skipped 3 weeks and they sent me 8 meals and charged my account anyway. I've since cancelled. Beware.
