I’m using my mailbox for special edition books mostly and I know that a lot of the time when they’re shipped directly to you, they show up ruined. So I paid a little fee to have my package wrapped up more securely. When my package got to me, it was in perfect condition! The packaging was really nicely done and the whole process was insanely fast. I’m so glad I found this service. Highly recommend!!

Did not add my street and street number…

Did not add my street and street number to the address. This caused a lot of issues and delayed the shipment. It should not be too much to ask to write the address correctly…

We completely understand why you'd be upset about the delay, but we'd like to quickly clarify how our shipping labels are generated. We don't manually type out delivery addresses for any of our shipments. Instead, our labels are generated automatically using the exact details you've saved in your myUKmailbox address book. When you add a shipping address and select it at checkout, those exact details are automatically carried over to the courier's label. If the street name and number were missing from the final package, it just means those specific lines were accidentally left blank in your saved address.

We want to make sure this doesn't happen again, so a member of our support team will be in touch with you shortly to cross-check your details and ensure your address book is fully updated before you submit any future shipments.

Poor value and no economical shipping option

MyUKmailbox.com was a very poor experience.

The product itself cost only £39.99, and the original seller shipping was £5.95, making the original order total £45.94. After that, MyUKmailbox charged me an additional £65.66 just for forwarding a 1.95 kg package.

But that was not the end of the cost. Because of this forwarding process, I then also had to pay additional charges in Europe: €30.28 in import VAT/duties and €26.50 for customs clearance/brokerage, adding another €56.78 on top. Altogether, the additional costs came to £114.73.

What makes this even worse is that the amount used for the import charges was not based only on the value of the product. It also included the shipping costs, meaning the tax and import-related charges were calculated on the combined total of the item and shipping, not just the item itself.

So in reality, this turned a product worth £39.99 into a far more expensive purchase once all the extra shipping, customs, and brokerage costs were added.

The biggest problem is that MyUKmailbox.com does not seem to offer a genuinely economical shipping option, even though cheaper carrier options should exist. I have used mailboxde.com for many years, and they have always been far more transparent, realistic, and fair about the final cost.

Compared to that, MyUKmailbox.com feels overpriced, unclear, and not customer-friendly. I would not use this service again.

We understand that international shipping and import taxes can quickly add up. To clarify, EU customs law requires taxes to be calculated on the CIF value (Cost, Insurance, and Freight). This means import VAT and duties are legally applied to the combined total of the item and the shipping costs you paid, not just the item itself. The €26.50 brokerage fee you mentioned is also a standard administration charge levied directly by the courier, which we don't control or receive.

Regarding our forwarding charge, please keep in mind it's a comprehensive service fee. It covers the entire process of receiving your parcel, processing it, providing secure storage, custom export packing, and the final tracked international courier cost, rather than just the raw postage.

We always aim for transparency, which is why we display a shipping calculator on our pricing page that provides accurate, live shipping fees before dispatch. While we can't predict a destination country's local import taxes or courier brokerage fees, we hope this explains how they're applied. Please rest assured we're continually reviewing our carrier network and looking to add more shipping options to give our customers greater choice and value. We appreciate your feedback.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!

For the cost of shipping repacking and customs fees before your packages can be delivered you would think simple instructions would be easy to follow. I asked for my two items to be placed in a larger DHL box unopened. I received my items in a plain brown cheaper quality box and both my items had been opened and taped closed before repacking them!!! I was given a simple snarky response by the company after reaching out before typing this review. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHIPPER!!!! Could not follow the simple instructions and options they give at repack and shipping checkout on their own site. For the cost just Buy in your own countries and avoid this company and invasion of your privacy and property.

The reply the company provided is false and inaccurate as they outlined below. I have shipped with them for a long time and NONE of my items were opened before. My items were not shipped in a DHL box and were opened and sealed with tape that ruined the inner items. They are making excuses to cover up their lack of following the instructions they were given!!!

DHL UK recently transitioned away from their traditional yellow boxes to environmentally friendly, 100% recycled brown eco-boxes. We have reviewed the dispatch photo captured by our team at the end of the consolidation process, which confirms this. This photo is available for you to view within your account and clearly shows the official DHL branding on the box, along with complimentary 'Fragile' tape applied by our team. We will also email this image over to you directly for your reference.

Regarding your concerns about your packages being opened, this is a strict legal requirement, not an invasion of privacy. As an international parcel forwarder, we are legally mandated by aviation security and customs authorities to open and verify every package to ensure the contents are safe, legal, and not prohibited. As the legal shipper of the goods, we cannot bypass this step under any circumstances.

This standard procedure is clearly outlined in our Terms & Conditions and the FAQ section of our website. Our team takes great care to gently open the outer packaging to verify contents without disturbing the manufacturer's packaging, before carefully resealing it for international transit.

While we are sorry to lose your business, you will find this legally mandated inspection process is standard practice across the entire regulated forwarding industry. We wish you the best with your future international shipments.
