Appalling
One of the worst Landlords, I’ve ever had the misfortune to deal with. Issues started the day before move in, when the landlord came clean about the state of the garden which looked to have had zero maintenance for many months while the property was presumed empty. The landlord knew we had dogs and had plenty of time to organise this so it fell to us to clean it up and fix broken fences. The inside of the property was not much better, it was absolutely filthy and again, appeared to have had very little maintenance done to it over the years. The rear doors were bowed and the lock/key not working, lightbulbs not fitted and the carpets disgustingly dirty. I could literally go on and on about the issues we had over the several months we spent here, the final straw was having no heating due to a broken boiler two weeks before Christmas, after pushing several times it was finally fixed the day before Christmas Eve (the very last day the plumber was available before the holiday period), with a 5 year old in the house this was unacceptable. The landlord said they would reimburse for some electric heaters, which I purchased and then had to fight for them to pay the full amount (as promised) rather than just the VAT!
When we moved out of the property, it was left in much better condition than when we moved in. The garden, along with the immediate neighbours (also owned by the same landlord) were waterlogged - partly due to the time of year, exceptional rain fall and very poor drainage provisions, the Landlord initially tried to keep all of our deposit for the garden, stating that it was down to poor maintenance on my part, and they’d have to have a landscaper come in and redo the garden which would far exceed my deposit of £1395 plus £400 (for the dogs). He then conceded that all properties were waterlogged but still wanted to make deductions, which I disagreed with.
It then took months going through the dispute process at the Tenancy Deposit Scheme for them to agree with me and award my full deposit back!!
I’ve since been informed that other tenants have also had many issues with dealing with NAL properties, similar to my own so I’d avoid them totally, if you can.
