Pity I cannot give 0 stars. I've been attempting to get a council tax refund for 6 months, every time i call it takes 10 minutes to get past the automated assistant that just directs you to a form on the website (that is near impossible to find) which i have done 3 times and each request has gone unanswered.

There were so many Victims by the NEWHAM COUNCIL ENFORCEMENT Scammers illegal unlawful harmful Culprits Criminals Offensive gangs. Or how long this illegal injustice shameful harrassement to the Vehicles Owners. PCN fines should to be given proper ways. Couldn't believe how does kept continuing illegal unlawful harmful bussinness totally 100% illegal breaches of Laws and they are too powerful. Given PCN even though not the Owner of the Vehicles this case also posted into the REVIEWS. My vehicle taken away and whenever I visited didn't given me my vehicle back. My belongings is in inside. NEWHAM MAYOR NEWHAM POLITICAL LEADERS should to be stopped Criminals Offensive activities immediately please. Its a very serious Criminals activities which is totally unusual in the FIRST WORLD COUNTRIES. Is this called first World Leading County UK truly shocked. This is direct thefts burglary looting robbery nothing is worst than this. Please removed this NEWHAM POUND from the NEWHAM and use for given something better that can supportive for the Residents in Newham. Big and massive grounds should to be built up HOMELESSNESS SHELTERS. i have tried to have people removed from my council tax bill for 8 years. this year alone i have filed the forms online 3 times, waited over 3 hours in total (3 sittings) on the phone, only to be told each time to fill out the form again. i get an automated response each time stating i should have a proper response in 5 days.... it has been 8 years and still no joy. i am now the only tenant but am still paying for three people. the forms ask for details of the previous tennents but i havn't spoken to one of them in over a decade. now as a solo tennent i am forced to pay 25% more than i should be every month in council tax because they will not respond. i am moving out soon and i assume it wiill be almost impossible to inform them of this and have it actioned. newham council are corrupt.

Unfortunately cannot give it nil points. You cannot log into the website. You put in your correct details the site tells you

Seriously - Newham fix your website - people have better things to do than spend 2 hours to access their council tax!!!!

Absolutely impossible to contact the council. The homepage always crashes or shows blank pages and the voice bot is designed you to get you to open the website no matter what enquiry you may have.

Trying to tell Newham council of council tax change on their website was impossible. Website full of glitches and demands for irrelevant information. Shockingly bad experience. Resorted to phoning, expected very long queue only to find a fully automated system that kept pushing me back to using the malfunctioning website. Britain in 2026 I’m utterly sick of it.

Rang with a query and went round in a recognition loop several times before the automated system terminated the call. Impossible to speak to customer service about Council Tax.

Went to Stratford libraries and the toilets stink. Lots of robbers in borough. DON’T COME HERE

I honestly don’t know another borough that ignores correspondence to this extent. Contacting Newham Council is almost impossible. Emails go unanswered, follow-ups are ignored, and residents are left chasing basic services with no clear route to resolution.
There is a very obvious two-tier system within the borough. Areas like Stratford City are spotless and well-maintained, and residents there clearly receive a consistent level of service. However, if you live outside those zones, particularly around East Ham and surrounding areas, you are largely on your own.
In some parts of the borough, rubbish is not collected properly and roads are visibly scattered with litter for long periods of time. This isn’t occasional neglect, it feels ongoing and systemic.
Newham residents deserve equal treatment regardless of postcode. Basic services like waste collection, street cleaning, and responding to residents should not depend on whether an area is seen as high-profile or profitable.

It’s the worst and disgusting rude people, they don’t answer phone calls and let you wait for hours

Most frustrating experience, the automated voice recognition is ridiculous. Such vague options, and then you just get hung up on if she doesn't like what you are asking to talk about!
When you finally, by some miracle, get into the queue to talk to someone, it's a wait of over an hour and a half, if you are lucky. I sent an email a week ago and had no response, so I had to call as the matter was urgent and was asked to call back with information.

Useless never get hold of them left me with mould for years constantly getting ill and have kids I also suffer with epilepsy

This council is absolutely terrible. I’ve spent hours on the phone waiting, unable to reach anyone. Their website is also very inflexible, making it extremely frustrating to resolve any issues.

I wouldn’t even give this council a 1 star if I could, they are actual thieves. If the money they raised targeting residents was used on services then maybe it wouldn’t be so bad. I am so glad I don’t live there anymore but still have to go to visit family.

Newham Borough Council does not deserve even 1 star. They had a system to enable visitors to park. Residents filled out a yellow card and it was to be displayed in the vehicle windscreen. The cards were very expensive but the system worked. Now they have a smartphone app. Great in theory if you have a smartphone. I anticipated problems so I tried to get it working a few days before my tradesman was due to visiit. I couldn't get it to work. I phoned the company that administers the app. The helpful lady needed to get into my account. She said it was now OK. It wasn't. I spent ages trying to get it to work. No luck. So I tried my computer. That took about an hour. I thought it had worked but the tradesman got a parking ticket. So now instead of one transaction per year buying cards I now have to try to get the system to work every time I have a visitor. It gets worse, the cards are no longer valid and the council is not providing refunds. I regard this as immoral.

This is one the worst councils in the UK, totally inept from top to bottom, run by idiots, I should know I used to work for them, to say they are corrupt is an understatement. One the worst boroughs to live in as well.

Can't stand to give 1 star. Anyway every blood year I have to suffer, because Newham council can control residents who want to live on a rubbish dump site. For 3 weeks I've been living with Rats in my Kitchen. You know the problem, so why not fix it. Decent residents are not important. We must shut up and put up. I can't just move. No-one wants to live in Newham. Years ago staff at Newham council would never aloud what's going on. Ross you are missed

Every top employee in this borough must be investigated. They keep raising prices, and quality is just getting worse and worse. We who live here actually like to know where all the money is going
