The Outlook App as got to be one of the worst updates of all time. Yeah yeah no-one likes change has NOTHING to do with it. It groups emails, you can't see clearly what your responding to and it shows attachments like 4 different times. It's terrible and whoever rolled it out should be fired

Word only seems to get worse

Somehow Microsoft manages to make Word less and less usable. I deal with relatively simple documents (words, charts, footnotes) every day, and every day it is an experience of maddening frustration, including:
– Randomly changing fonts: Select All, apply font and size or a saved Style, then at any point in the editing process a line, paragraph or entire section will change to a different font [usually Times New Roman], size and sometimes colour as well.
– Uncontrollable indents. Paragraphs or footnotes will suddenly decide to launch a bid for Indent Independence, and nothing will persuade them to obey.
– Unmanageable images. Charts and tables will assign their own positions, or leap from page to page. Quark solved this more than two decades ago.
That's just a small selection. Word ruins my day.

Garbage glitchy software that barely works. Not only has it not improved in 15 years, it has degraded. It's actually embarrassing, as a long standing software developer, Microsoft is barely accomplishing what was possible over a decade ago. Don't touch anything made by this company. There are many free, better alternatives.

No service

I have contacted Microsoft multiple times over the past 12 months to cancel my subscription, as I was unable to access my account due to issues with the authenticator app. Each time, I made it explicitly clear that I wanted to cancel the subscription. However, every time I called, I was redirected to an IT assistant to address the authenticator app issue instead. Every call would take about 1 to 2 hours.

This time, out of sheer frustration, I demanded that the representative cancel my subscription directly, as all previous attempts had failed. Somehow this time, the person was able to cancel the subscription within 40 min of being on the telephone.

I have never been able to use Microsoft 365 Business Basic, not even once, because I was completely locked out of my account. As a result, I requested a refund, as I consider this entire experience to be nothing short of a scam. I have never encountered such poor service from any other company.

Long term review of Office 2016

Been using Office 2016 home version (not 365) for a while.
I wanted a local version I could use off-line without having to rent it (ie: So I can use now and again without having to rent unused software or play account bingo as a prerequisite to write something on occassion).
It is purposely limited/disabled in functionality to the poiunt its become an extremely poor product. It used to be very good on Win7 and before so its sad MS prioritities have made something good a complete mess.

Here are a couple of examples.
Autosave is only available if you use one of MS clouds. You cannot autosave locally, on a cloud of your choosing or on a local network. Basically pay rent to MS for autosave to work.
In Powerpoint locking elements doesn't work, its a 365 only "feature". So pay rent to MS for locking to work.

So although the suite "works" it has key features hidden away that only work if you pay rent to MS. What this means in practice is this is no longer an office suite its an exercise in rent seeking and the customer be damned.

Have gone back to Office 2010. Far superior product. Much better integration between the suite etc, etc. I'd give this version way more than 1 star, its the last good version MS made before embarking on enshitification.

Do not buy

Do not buy. Not worth the money.

Despite paying for Microsoft Home & Office which includes Outlook, I get "advert" emails in Outlook.

I bought a one time licence for a lot of money but apparently only office 365 subscriptions give you no adverts. What a con!!!

Microsoft office products have gone downhill over the past few years, always revamping the way they look and taking away all the useful features.

Office.com is appalling

The Office.com provides an appalling user experience. Download link for the package repeatedly fails. Tech support is difficult to locate & only available through Webchat, not phone. Took all morning to complete installation. Even Tech Support appear to be confused by the features, e.g. Microsoft Auto-Updater.

The Brexit of Office Software

This software is not designed to increase collaboration at work. It's designed to tangle your mind in convoluted, counter-intuitive wormholes. It's the software version of Brexit: absolutely pointless, harmful, and needs to be reversed. Try creating a Word Doc, sharing it with people within your business and giving them Edit Access. Before you do, take an aspirin and get a cushion ready to scream into.

My account got hacked but cant even close or delete the account. Why? I thought every account in the world of internet can be delete or even change the password..everyday got 1 notification from someone who actually try to get into my account. Finally they were success. Got any idea how microsoft can upgrade the system since microsoft kind of forcing people to stay in the account. Very bad.

still taking money from my dead father

My father who had dementia for 2 years passed away last June. My mother and myself have tried numerous times to try to get Microsoft to stop taking money from my mothers bank account (as my dead father doesn't even have an account anymore).
Firstly you can't even find a telephone number that actually gets answered by an Australian Consultant. Secondly when I sent a complaint to them complaint no.7035049590 they immediately sent a response stating they were closing my file as it wasn't an Australian Consumer Issue. That was it even when I sent a reply stating that it indeed was as my father was an Australian and so am I. No response from Microsoft.
So I went back online and got a number through the virtual store assistant that was supposedly a telephone number that would be answered by a human, yipeee I thought but no it was an American line that handled the US and Canada. Anyway it was explained to me that Microsoft would not close my fathers account as he was unable to verify the account even though I told them I had both a Death Certificate and a Cremation Certificate.
Apparently the only way that Microsoft will close an account ithout verification from the account holder is if they don't get paid. They don't need permission to close the account if they aren't getting their money, but they will keep taking your money even after you are dead.
This was explained to me by the above call case no: 7035240154.
So unless my elderly mother who is on an aged pension and has all her banking through an account that is only in her name, not my fathers, shuts down her account and opens a new one Microsoft will just keep taking my mothers pension money.
This is insane and totally unfair and until someone from Microsoft does something to actually help me I am going to repost this review every day on every review site I can find.

I’ve been trying to cancel my trial…

I’ve been trying to cancel my trial subscription for Microsoft 365, but it’s damn impossible. I followed the steps written on the website over and over again with my Android phone and also IPad, but nothing. After I click the manage button in my subscription a new page opens up… its my Microsoft account I want to delete but there is no button or sign of a button that says cancel subscription and when I search for it in the search help box it pops out but when i click it they tell me “Sorry, the page you’re looking for can’t be found.” I obviously tried also through the email options but nothing! RIDICULOUS!!!

For a trillion-dollar company to have…

For a trillion-dollar company to have such existentially putrid outsourced customer service is beyond disturbing. They are 1999 AOL level bad. The reps I have spoken to, speak bad English, have thick accidents so you strain to understand, and forget about critical thinking. They can not think and write at the same time. The upside, I will stay from ALL things Microsoft. If there were zero stars, they would get it
