In Jan 2025, I submitted a ticket via their web portal to change my banking information and my home address. An entire month passed with no response.
In Feb 2025, the withdrawal came out of my old bank account and was rejected for NSF 3 times because I had switched banks. I had to pay $140 in NSF fees to my bank. I called Onlia to figure it out and ended up waiting 3 hours on hold. When I finally got through to someone, I gave them my bank account and address info. I asked if they would try to pull Feb 2025 payment from the new account. They said they would in the next couple of days, and the regular payments would happen as scheduled.
In Mar 2025, I was instead charged 2 months worth of withdrawals. And they WERE CHARGED TO THE WRONG BANK. The account went 200 overdrawn and I was again charged an NSF fee. I've now paid $200 in NSF fees because of this.
I am now on hold (on hour 2 and counting) TRYING TO CHANGE MY DAMNED BANKING INFORMATION for the THIRD MONTH IN A ROW.

I wrote a review here before and asked me to send an email asking including 'Trustpilot review' in the subject of email. I did that and still no response after more than 2 days. I have been a customer of 3 years with Aha, which was taken oevr by Onlia. Now I was force
take a new insurance with different company as i am not able to get in touch with them and these people are still charging me for old policy. I can't imagine how hard it would be reach someone, if it's an emergency. Especially, the insurance provider who have to deal with emergencies all the time.
I am not even sure what to do at this point. Totally lost, loosing money each month and dealing with this company is a nightmare.

Easy to sign up and get a quote. Kind of tricky setting up a new account. Price I was quoted changed on me by a dollar or two. But not bad.

I have been trying to get a hold of a live person since January to speak in regards to my policy. I sit on hold for at least an hour then get hung up on. Ive email support multiple times and nobody calls me back. I have called and emailed support again today! I am now fed up and want my policy canceled and need to be called back IMMEDIATELY

Typically when an Insurance Broker changes its Insurance Suppliers, it'd also move its customers to the new Insurance Supplier/Provider to ensure there is no disruption of coverage for the client. (1) HOWEVER, Onlia simply cancelled my HOME policy!!!
(2) I made more than 3 calls "and" I sent online messages about my remaining policies, NO ANSWER from onlia. once I called at 4:02pm on a weekday (Easter Day Light Time, waited for 20+ minutes, finally got an agent, then the agent cut me off. I called back, the IVR says sorry, Onlia is closed, it wasn't even 5pm yet!)
(3) Per above, I sent messages to have my reaminig 2x auto-policies to be cancelled, but no response from Onlia, and Onlia continues to charge my credit card. I'm now seriously considering the small claims court or the Ontario Better Business Bureau.
p.s. Onlia simply responded and says my policies are still Active!!!! Come on, you cancelled my Home Insurance - you can't even properly read your own system?

Onlia is an awful business. You will never get a live agent and the ones who do, work from home and are unprofessional. They keep withdrawling from my account even though I’ve cancelled since last November. I recommend contacting your bank and taking the necessary steps to place a complaint with the credit bureau.

Onlia has changed most of their policies and terms, were they used to be efficient and helpful, they are now extremely slow and put as many impediments as they can to your loss and their gain. Their way of dealing with customers is to keep you waiting on the phone until you give up.I switched auto insurance and are paying 80$ less a month for more coverage

I rarely write reviews, but I’m so frustrated with the appalling service I’ve received from ONLIA INSURANCE that I feel compelled to share my experience.
I initially used a broker to get my car insurance through ONLIA, and while it took a bit longer than expected, I finally got my policy. However, what followed has been nothing short of a nightmare. I was clearly told that a certain amount would be deducted from my account each month, but for months now, I’ve been seeing a higher amount deducted without any explanation.
I’ve been trying to reach their customer service since September 2024, but all I get is an endless loop of automated answering machines, no matter how long I wait on the line. I’ve spent hours on hold, with no resolution. I’m currently still on hold as I type this, and it’s just the same robotic messages over and over.
This level of unresponsiveness is unacceptable. I’m frustrated, confused, and frankly, ready to take my business elsewhere. At this point, I feel completely disregarded as a customer, and it’s incredibly disheartening.
Avoid ONLIA INSURANCE if you want peace of mind and actual support.

They sent me an email saying my policy will renew at 60% more the price of the original one and then locked me out of my account so I can't make any changes. I have auto payment set up so they are just taking that money out of my account AGAINST my wishes. I can't reach them via email and their phone line puts you on hold for HOURS before automatically hanging up. ABSOLUTE SCAM!

I put in a quote Deb 20 and never heard back . I called several times and finally got through and the person said I would get a quote within 48 hours which I never received . I called and spoke to a nice lady who put my car with fire and theft then I get my jeep insured and it is wrong and my car is back to insured. I have called back three times today and got bumped off the phone after a hour and they last time I was waiting on hold and once four iclock hit I got disconnected again. I have emailed and have heard nothing back . It is hard to call while I’m at work . This is very frustrating experience

Trying to contact the the support about my existing insurance I was an hour in the line nobody was answering,I right the email a week ago and still no answer.
3 months ago insurance for my second car was expired by they still thinking money on it . I think in that this company not exist anymore but they still taking money.

This company has been hard to reach. They never renewed my auto policy despite saying since their change that we should not worry. Now I have found a new coverage and getting someone to speak to, to ensure my home policy is cancelled has been a nightmare! I highly and greatly DO NOT recommend. At least they were cheaper before so not being able to reach someone was you getting what you paid for.

I have been a HOME & AUTO customer of this company for two years and have consistently received excellent service. However, after an ownership change and updating my payment method in January, I encountered multiple billing issues, including payments being withdrawn from the incorrect account, for incorrect amounts, and on incorrect dates. Despite reaching out to customer support, I was simply told, ‘We will take the payment next month,’ with no resolution. Now, due to their errors, I am receiving cancellation notices for non-payment. Unfortunately, the quality of service has significantly declined.

Worst insurance company I've ever been with. Was cheap, but the inability to actually speak to anybody from the company when you had problems was infuriating, as well as since they merge with another company recently their website has been completely broken, not even able to check my billing history to make sure things are coming out on time. Which was catastrophic when they had a billing issue last month which caused my payment to be missed and my insurance has now been canceled because I was unaware that I was now behind on payments. Not to mention that apparently it was canceled on March 1st, but they didn't send me an email to let me know until 3 days later. If I had gotten into an accident during that period I would have been completely screwed and not knowing why.
While before the merger the company wasn't great, it was still cheap and cheerful and it actually worked properly. The website was usable, although not super useful for anything other than checking your billing history and policy number and such, but at least you could actually log in. Currently if you try to log into your account majority of the time it doesn't work and you just are sat on a loading screen indefinitely, and even when you do get in there's nothing to do because none of the pages actually load any information. My billing page indicates that the last time I made a payment was in 2016, which I wasn't with this company until 2020 approximately.
