PayPal ..... THE PITS !!

I purchased an item on eBay and paid by PayPal which attracted 10% GST (US $80 + US $8 GST) Unfortunatley, the seller could not supply the item and immediately processed a refund of US $80. NOw you would think that they would automatically refund the US $8 GST but they won't! You cannot log a case against PayPal, only the seller! The Australian governement (and Gerry Harvey) has handed PayPal a nice little profit centre.
I loved PayPal in the early days but I am now avoid ing this shonky outfit like the plague (and I suggest you do to!)

Crooks

I hope we could have other Payment options for online shopping and not using PayPal anymore because they are CROOKS. PP exploits both Sellers and buyers and do exactly NOTHING when disputing happens.

As a Seller, I sold an item to a chargeback scammer in the US, I provided all the evidence to prove the transaction is genuine and the buyer has received the item. After a few months’ investigations, PP has closed the case in MY FAVOUR by Seller’s protection, but the payment hasn't been returned to my account. They said
the payment will take up to 4 weeks to appear in my account. Hence, they told me another story that the case was opened directly by the buyer's financial institution, so PP has nothing to do with it, I still can't get the payment even the case closed in my favour and I need to seek help outside of PP. Shame on Pay Pal.

PayPal is obviously owned by fraudulent companies. Reject my claim for an undelivered package saying it had been delivered yet when I tracked the supposed number issued by seller it was delivered to a suburb I don't even live in!
Disgusting!

PayPal is not cost effective. Customer service is rubbish and useless.

I emigrated from the UK to Australia and tried to access my UK Paypal account, which I have been using since 2003. It wanted to verify me with a sms message code, however as I have emigrated I no longer have that mobile number. There is no way to update your number and the customer help were of no use either. They advised I can't use my existing account in Australia and would have to setup a new one. And that is what I did.
I made three sales within 2 months (I sold three CDs on Discogs) and the amount was something like $15.00 including shipping and then they blocked my money and say that once they buyer receives the CD and they leave a review they will release my money. The thing is they had already taken their cut, they did not block that, so on principle I told them that unless I cannot send the CD and we go on a loop for half an hour about how I won't release the CD until I have access to my money and that the won't release the funds until they buyer has got the item.
I explained very politely to them that their company is just rubbish, that it is expensive to use and pointless if I cannot access to my funds. And that what they are doing does not help the buyer or the seller in any way at all.
Seeing that is not point arguing with somebody who is just reading a script which only benefits that company I decided to contact the buyer. Explained the situation and we do a bank transfer instead. Is cheaper. Is safer. Is more straightforward.
I have closed that Paypal account. I really hope that they go bust.

The Shaw Academy is a SCAM

I have always had a good experience with Paypal but recently I had my "fingers burnt" with the latest and I am very hesitate to fully trust Paypal again. I got caught up with a scam from the Shaw Academy and they advertised 30 days free. I purchased the service via Paypal as an added security but that gave me a false sense of security. The Shaw Academy started taking my money out of my account within 24-48 hours. I made a complaint to Paypal and followed the protocols to get a refund. In the end Paypal did NOTHING. I won't be using Paypal again and it has left a very bitter taste in my mouth. In the past Paypal have been very helpful, I am very disappointed with their inaction.

Absolutely Terrible company.

Absolutely Terrible company.

I emigrated from the UK to Australia and tried to access my UK account. It wanted to verify me with a sms message code, however as I have emigrated I no longer have that mobile number. There is no way to update your number and the customer help were of no use either. They advised I can't use my existing account in Australia and would have to setup a new one. If i wanted into my old account I needed to call the UK PayPal support on international charge rates. If anyone has called PayPal you will know the wait times are horrific and when you do speak to a half robot script reading human they often cut you off when their script does not hold the answers to simple questions.

The fun does not stop there though. As advised I opened up a new PayPal account in Australia to use with my existing ebay account. I sent all of the required documents and started selling on ebay. Once my first sale had gone through over $1500, PayPal transfered the money into their account and took off their percentage for the 'service' they were providing then swiftly put my account on a permanent bann.

With this bann in place I now cannot access my funds for 180 days (6months) and when trying to question the reasons behind the bann paypal either ignore all emails or copy and paste the decision is final with no explanation or opportunity to resolve.

There are horror stories online that paypal will also keep the money for themselves after the 180 days with no explanation. Something which is borderline Illegall and should be thoroughly investigated.

A facelese spineless company ran by robots that appear to be working outside of any laws or morals without repercussions.

I have had the same experience as other reviewers of PayPal. Clearly the seller is a scam yet Paypal in no way assisted with me getting a refund for a product that I did not authorise. All they send is automated replies that do not address the concerns I identified with them. PayPal should be made accountable as well as the scammers. Be aware of instagram/facebook sales!! Don't use PayPal!

PayPal abetting scammer break local laws

I ordered some shoes from a company advertising on Instagram. Their website showed these lovely leather shoes. When I received them they were cheap plastic. I wrote to PayPal to complain about the seller. It was Byzantine. They sent me through a series of steps in some automated process. I sent them links and photos to prove that this was a scammer. I was totally ignored and got an email saying they had rejected my claim because I hadn’t sent the plastic fake shoes back to the scammer. It’s extraordinary to me that PayPal has no process to make sure that they are not supporting foreign companies who are breaking Australian laws.

Shame on you Paypal

What an absolute disappointment
PayPal taken 3 weeks and several attempts to submit proof of a faulty item, photos, videos detailed account of my experience with a seller, all insufficient. Asked for more information, so a third party was hired to provide a true report and assessment, this is apparently still not good enough,so now they need to sit, ruminate & digest in their back office. Customer service agents are hired from Phillipines (I venture a guess), try to convince you that you have said things you haven't e.g. "you said you uploaded evidence yesterday" when it was uploaded 5 days ago - then raise their voice when you object to it. Should be commended on their achievements for miscommunication throughout this organisation and poor communication across their departments, even their resolution dispute estimate is inaccurate. Don't question this or the agent will address you like you're stupid because you should know there's another 10 days to wait (like duh ??). Incompetent clowns and unprofessional and unreliable. Have lost faith in this company. Oh before I forget, don't expect their customer agents to liaise with their back office team, apparently they don't speak to each other, another stupid question should you ask, is why. Honestly you would get a better outcome asking a bot, at least it's polite courtious and communicates without being condescending.
Utter joke and catastrophic fail - Shame on you PayPal.

Good service

When I first created my account to make a sale there was a lengthy wait to receive the money it had taken alot of time and effort to find out when I can get my money. I sold flight vouchers in 2019 and the buyer had paid money then quickly brought his flight tickets that day. I was worried I wouldn't get my money at all, that was a horrible experience.
When I needed their help regarding a different issue they assisted me as soon as they could. I requested refunds explaining why and what happened, twice they opted in my favor to help me.
When buying online if a store has PayPal I always use it as my first option now.
Overall when I was the seller it was a difficult time but now I am the buyer their service is good I will continue to use their service as much as possible.

PayPal supports a scammer! PayPal responds!!!!

I purchased an item paying in full with PayPal which I have been using since 2003 without any issues until now. The vendor sent a worthless item using the same tracking number provided for the item I purchased.
Many emails were sent to the vendor and the problem was not resolved despite many apologies from the vendor. I contacted the PayPal dispute centre providing all the evidence so that they could see that the original tracking number was clearly printed on the package for the worthless item. PayPal accepted the vendors "proof" that the item was delivered. They will not accept that I did not receive the item I ordered and will not refund my purchase money. This is totally unfair. I do not know how to appeal the PayPal resolution which clearly sides with the scamming vendor. I have photos of all the evidence but do not know how to upload them here.

UPDATE!!!

One hour after posting the above post I received a call from customer service in the USA. I live in Australia. After reading my response to the incorrect resolution of my claim, PayPal are re-opening my case! I am delighted that not only are they re-opening it, but actually called me in Australia and we spoke for 20 minutes. The PayPal guy was VERY polite, courteous and sympathetic to my concerns. Hopefully this will be resolved in my favour and restore my faith in PayPal.

Absolute scam

Absolute scam. They have taken $14,000 of our money for no reason for almost a year. We definitely have passed our 180 days. It's six months we are trying to get hold of someone to just talk to us. They have no customer service over the phone. We're taking legal actions against this scam

Constant issues make life difficult

Constant issues make life difficult. I have been using paypal for over a decade and I have never had an experience with a company that has unexpectedly made life so difficult on so many occasions both as a purchaser and as a seller. It unexpectedly has locked me out of both purchasing or recieving funds from my account on numerous occasions and the support is shockingly slow and unhelpful which means I have at times been locked out for days on end. From a sellers perspective it is a very clunky system and I have moved to alternate methods outside when I use ebay, from a buyers perspective I only use them when a seller doesnt accept american express now.

It is unacceptable to keep falling back…

It is unacceptable to keep falling back on the excuse, "fluctuating exchange rates." I bought several items from international sellers, who sat on my money for a few weeks and then sent me a refund in the US foreign currency I paid. However, through no fault of my own, on several occasions, the Australian dollar amount was roughly $10 less than what I originally paid. PayPal could not care less! They continue to say, "fluctuating exchange rates!"
I would not recommend them!!!
