Scam microchip renewal
Scam, scam, scam. They had ALL my details and my cat's details in a 'microchip renewal' email. I got suspicious when they asked for $28. It's free in Aus to register your pet's microchip with Central Animal Records and they work with councils and animal welfare orgs to reunite lots pets with their owners.
Don’t fall for it
A very convincing con trick don’t fall for it like we did. PayPal have refunded the fee we paid. There is a lot of interesting information on the web about this company.
BEWARE,SCAM
BEWARE,SCAM. Thank goodness I checked here before 'clicking link'. Thank you to all who have warned previously. Still a worry that they're trying this month's after first attempt reported.
SCAM
SCAM! Definitely a scam. They have the microchip number one digit wrong, and also an old address where I know my dog's official microchip registrar has the correct updated address. However, they are all my personal details which is scary. Haven't figured out yet who they hacked to get these details but don't pay anything and don't select links.
Another Scam!
I’ve also just been scammed by Petchip, I paid £18.95 through Apple Pay. My bank are onto it and my card frozen. The terrible bit about it is they’ve got all my dog’s details and I believed it. I’m an OAP aged 76 and feeling very upset. I hope my bank will get my money back.
Definitely a scam
I've had similar emails to other people. A total scam. It's worrying that they have all those personal details. And some people may panic and fall for it.
This is a scam
This is a scam. I believe that they have hacked into Identibase as they were able to provide personal details about myself and my animal including a photo. They want money to ensure that the animal doesn't become "Unregistered" but my pet is registered with Identibase.
This is a SCAM
This is a SCAM! I have no account with this company but they hacked into the account I have with another company and sent me an email saying I needed to pay to renew my account. I checked in with my actual company and they verified that this was a scam and that the chip number was slightly altered. Do not use this company!
Same as everyone else
Same as everyone else, received an email stating that my dogs microchip would expire unless I paid £18.95. Sounded legit, they even had a photo of my dog but I'm glad I checked on here first. The photo of my dog is the one I used on Biscuits (it tracks your dog walking and gives rewards), either they've sold my details or they've been hacked.
Taken over by scammers
Constantly sending emails saying my pets microchip has expired and wanted renewal payment. Checked with my vet about my pets microchip and it's still fully active. Sort your data base out and get rid off the scammers posting to your customers.
SCAM as others have said sent email…
SCAM as others have said sent email with link to enter card details ref pets microship expiry which in the uk it never expires and petlog have the official database. why are they still operating and i have reported this as a scam
SCAM! Reported
I had an email from this company asking me to click a link and make a payment stating my dogs microchip had expired, I quickly learnt this was a scam. I emailed them to make them aware, got back a somewhat aggressive email stating I was slandering them and that they wouldn’t have my details without me previously signing up for their service! This was a LIE. I have never used their service but what was more worrying is that they had personal details like my phone number and address (luckily they were out of date) but still very scary, they also sent me a picture of my pet.
I got threatened with their attorney’s in the email also, very unprofessional email calling me a disgrace. Not sure any legit company would behave like this. Reported them anyway but please be aware! Really scared me how they got hold of details!
SCAM
SCAM! emailed me to say i needed to re-register. I couldn't remember who my pet was registered with (and was sure it wasn't an annual fee) but it sounded plausible (of course ). knew something was wrong when I the only payment option was 'premium' that I didn't want. Very glad I checked them out before I paid.
Petchip network
Petchip network tried to get me to renew my registration. What was annoying and obviously a scam was the dog in question died, some 5 years ago!The dog is not likely to need it, unless of course you have contact with the otherside👻. Plus the fact that microchipped animals are for life. So if those nice scammers could kindly delete my details, that would be a nice gesture.
Absolute scam
Absolute scam. Do not give money to this company. They steal your pet's microchip details and then email you asking for money to "renew the registration". They are not a legitimate business. When I replied to the email saying that I knew it was a scam, they became very aggressive and threatening towards me.
Scammers! Do not Use
This co. sent my wife an email to say we had to re-register our dogs microchip. I didn't think this was right. I contacted our registered company. They said you do not re-register microchips. It's a scam. I tried contacting Petchip, they said I had wrong number.
SCAM SCAM SCAM
I received email with ALL my pets details including her chip number, date of birth and her photo??? Where did they obtain these details? I recently bought a QR disc for my dog with all those details did they sell that information on? I will be investigating and will report the email..The genuine company I registered with does NOT expire.
SCAM
SCAM. They should be ashamed of themslves. Fearmongering They send legit looking emails stating that your pet will be unregistered *( in some dodgy afilliated databases) and you need to pay. Chips dont EXPIRE.
This company operate a scam
This company operate a scam. They will send an email stating that your pets chip has expired and suggesting you send £18.95 via paypal to continue its use. I fell for it and demanded a refund....non forth coming.MICROCHIPS DO NOT EXPIRE until the pet does! Do not fall for it Pet trac is the legitimate company.
Scam
Same experience as everyone else on here. I received an email that my pets microchip number expired etc. I was surprised, but they had all my details, plus a PICTURE of my pet!! Also it's date of birth...
I unfortunately paid as it looked so legit. Then when searching my emails I noticed I registered my pet under a completely different company. That's when I realised.
I figured out they got my details from borrowmydoggy. Probably hacked into their website, and other similar websites. Interested to know if anyone else made that connection?
