My ownership experience with my RAD Rover 6 plus has been atrocious. Left me stranded many times. First the toggle switch popped off the bike not allowing me to power down or on the bike etc. Repla... See more

Horrible customer service
When I purchased my RadCity 5 2 years ago, customer service was great. You get them on the phone and they we’re pretty helpful. Fast forward today October 11, 2023, and you can’t even get a phone call. Parts take forever to arrive, and no one there gives a damn about your currant problems. Took it to a shop they referred, and they’ve been waiting for a controller for almost 3 weeks. Stay away from this company…I’m currently looking for a new Ebike, but it won’t be a Rad.
Unfortunate malfunction and no parts availabliity
Bike is 14 months old with 301 miles on it. All was well till just now when, while electronics appears to work, motor will not. Service suggested error 25 which has a process to follow. That yielded nothing. Service then suggested a replacement "controller" which of course is out of stock. This is a $2000 new bike. I would NOT buy another RAD POWER BIKE.
I bought a rad city 5+stepthrough.
I bought a rad city 5+stepthrough.
The bike is still under warranty.
The bike failed 2times.
First Time I spend 1,5 month to get the bike in order
Second Time now it’s already 1 month and the last power electronics mounted is defect.
Nevermore rad power bikes
rad trike 1 month old quit working…
rad trike 1 month old quit working their phone lines shut down you email them they want pictures and videos no matter hoh much info you send they want more been 3 weeks 20 plus emails no warranty its a scam so you will get tired and fix yourself
never again
I have purchased 3 bikes from rad. the last 6 months I have suffered abysmal service and customer support. I read they lost a lot of staff but it has reached an insulting level of bad. a battery in the new bike went bad. it took a dozen emails with response times of two to three weeks to decide it would be replaced under warranty and then they decided the warranty had expired while screwing around.
Consider Any Other E-bike Than a Rad Power Bikes.
Purchased a Rad Expand 5 in April of 2023. The bike was packaged poorly and came through damaged, frame gouged, and brake rotor bent. Then noticed that the 750 watt output motor only put out 500 watts max. Contacted Rad by email (6/27/2023) as they had shut down their phone system. Received an automated response about how busy they are, and they would get back to me. Week later another automated email about how sorry they are but they are very busy. Tried calling numerous times but phones are still not being answered. Sent numerous reply to emails but no response from Rad. It is now 6/26/203 and I have still not received any response from Rad regarding my issue. This is from a company that claims to be committed to their customer service. This was my 2nd Rad bike but there won't be a 3rd, nor will I be recommending Rad Powers Bike's again. Rad' customer service is terrible, and the quality of their products is questionable. 0 stars should be available for a company like Rad Power Bikes.
10/4/2023 - Since writing this review I was able to make contact with Rad Power Bike and they have corrected the issue. For resolving the issue, I am changing my review rating to 3. I still believe that Rad needs to improve their customer service response.
RAD!
Rad Power Bikes is a very dynamic company. Their founding leader Mike Radenbaugh is a very cool dude. He cares about his customers and his employees and he does his best to build creative and reliable and beautiful electric bicycles. Every machine can have an issue and I know this because I am a technician but Rad Power Bikes does their best to help their customers pre-sale and post sale. I have a Rad Runner and I love it. My bike has over 3000 hard ridden miles on it and it’s still cruising trouble free!
Only Purchase Bikes That Are Already Discounted
The bikes are great. The customer service & pricing strategy is not. Don't buy a bike from them unless it is on sale. The bike I purchased less than 3 months ago is now offered at $700 off. If you see what you like and want, just wait! It'll for sure be on sale soon, if not the next three-day weekend.
Battery is crap and will not last very long. Poor warranty service.
We have had a Rad bike for 15 months, 3 months past their 12 month warranty. We have less than 300 miles on the bike. The battery has stopped taking a charge and they will not replace it. There is also no accessible fuse to check in the battery. New battery is $499. They offered #100 off. TOTAL RIP OFF given that a new full bike is only 3x more than their battery.
Feeling abandoned and screwed.
Like many other comments here, customer service stinks! I’ve have had no problems with bike - I love the bike. But a mere 600 miles later the battery wouldn’t charge. Lack of technical support response at first - over a week- then I connected with Erin. .. told me I needed to replace the battery ($500!!) And it’s out of stock. After reading these reviews I’m sorry I didn’t know about their lack of support before I purchased (December 2021). $2000+ bike of no use.
Still does not care about customer safety or satisfaction
The bike is great. But it has serious design flaws when it comes to battery. This is the reason they cannot provide more batteries. But they sell them for $600 so why would they care?
So I have an unusable bike, still under warranty, with the only option to resort to trying to change the fuse myself even though it, in their own words, "is a high risk of death".
I guess a dead customer is a quiet one. If this was what new CEO Phil meant with laser focus on customer safety and satisfaction, then I am not impressed.
This has been without a doubt the worst…
This has been without a doubt the worst customer experience ever. We purchased two Rad bikes on 8/17/23. Today is 8/31/23 and one bike is still not working due to a defective battery. They asked that I send videos and pictures to confirm the battery is not working. Hard to email videos due to file size. The only way to communicate with the company is email or chat. The instructions for bike assembly is poor. The information on the website is poor or inaccurate.
No Customer Service
I purchased a Rad Rover 6 + July 22, 2022. It has 179km and only used 3 months last summer/fall. This spring used it a couple
Time till battery needed charging the. Reid to charge and it would not take a charge. Was not sure if it was defective charger or battery…… I tried contacting Rad…. What an experience this has been. No phone number only email support with generic reply that sounds like an airline company “ we are extremely high volume….. blah, blah, blah”. I tried the online chat and guess what….? “Due to high volume, our agent will get to you shortly…….” I finally did get to do online chat and the agent “ Kesaih” was as helpful as a ………! Did not answer I of my questions, would not give me a phone number to call, eventually told me I should buy a new charger and my warranty is expired. I asked him to tell me if it was the battery or charger, would not reply, said to go buy a charger….. this is absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced and will be certain to post bad reviews in as many places as possible to ensure people understand who they are doing business with. In todays world unexceptable.
Just bought a RAD Battery Travel Case
Just bought a RAD Battery Travel Case. It is of very good quality and fits my battery AND charger perfectly. I do not own a RAD eBike. My bike is a Gazelle C380 with the Bosch Power system (500W battery and motor). I would recommend anyone looking for battery storage to get one of these cases.
I cannot recommend Rad Power Bikes
I cannot recommend Rad Power Bikes. Customer support is pretty much non-existent. No phone number for customer support, emails are answered with generic responses that do not address the issue, and no one answers the chat support feature due to higher than normal call volumes.
A great Decision !
Went on our annual Gibsons Yacht Club GALLOPING Goose triail ride. After my hip replacement in March I decided to go with an e-bike this year. My rad bike was perfect for the trip. Easy to put together and worked perfectly on the trip. Not a real experienced rider but my Rad bike made this years ride the most enjoyable of the past 4 years. Thanks Rad!
beware....
Has almost been a month and they still have not shipped my bike. Lack of integrity and honesty from the company. Wish I never purchased from them to begin with as the bike will no longer serve it's intended purpose.
Disappointed. Too Fragile. Planned obsolescence
At first I really liked the bike. It is fun to ride and seems to be built well. Unfortunately things went downhill from there.
My first big issue is the display. I have a Rad Rover 5. My expectation is that with a name like Rad Rover 5 and big knobby tires, this should be a bike that can handle the elements. I was wrong. When bringing my bike on the road on a bike rack, I drove into some rain. The display got wet and the whole bike stopped working. My wife also has a Rad Rover with a working display so I swapped the display and quickly determined that the display was in fact ruined. What kind of "Rad Rover" can't get a little wet? I tried drying the display out but nothing I did could get the water out (including hair dryers and sitting in a bag of rice etc.). I tried opening it up but could not get inside and get the water out. This component is not built to be fixable. It cost $100 for a replacement. Next time I took my bike on the road, I covered the display in 2 layers of plastic and rubber bands. It still got wet and another display died. Very frustrating. I'm still waiting for the replacement to ship.
Since its so fragile, they should make the display easily removable so you can take it off and keep it inside the car.
My second issue is the Rad Rover 6 battery. My brother bought the Rad Rover 6 on my recommendation (embarrassing) and his battery just stopped charging. The bike was far less than a year old. He called support and they told him its likely that the fuse blew. No biggie except that the battery is designed such that the fuse cannot be replaced and you need to buy a new battery for $600. As if that wasn't bad enough, they didn't have them in stock for months!! He ended up buying a used one on eBay just so he could ride his new very expensive bike. When I visited recently I took a look and found a video that shows how to replace the fuse. It's not easy. You need to pry the cover from part of the battery, cut a slit in the plastic wrapping that looks deliberately placed there to thwart repair and fish around to grab the fuse with a needle nose pliers. Of course doing this voids the warrantee. In cutting the plastic, I accidentally cut the ribbon cable going to the display. There is no way to see where that cable is since its buried under blue plastic. The battery works after replacing the fuse, but there is no way to tell the charge from the battery display.
I'm very disappointed in Rad Power Bikes and will no longer purchase them nor recommend them to friends.
No customer service
No customer service. They don’t respond. My bike stopped working and there is no support phone number. Only option is to email them and they send an automated response but no real reply to help. They have a chat option but no one responds. Really sad because I really like the bike when it’s working hope the owners can figure this out. Wish I had done better homework before I bought my Rad Power bike.
This bike was great for the first 4…
This bike was great for the first 4 months. Then i started having battery issues. Their customer support is the worst. It has been 1.5 months and I haven't had any responses to my emails or on their LiveChat via the website. Apparently they are experiencing a high volume of customers contacting them. I purchased a RadRunner Plus on 9/28/22. The battery stopped charging on 7/2/23. I have emailed them three times a week since and have spent countless hours waiting on their LiveChat. I would not buy a Rad bike if I new their support was like this.
