Terrible terrible customer service

Terrible terrible customer service. Bikes so far are great but the stress and hassle of getting them on the road may not be worth it. Too bad because the showrooms (Vancouver as an example) are bending over backwards to provide excellent customer service. Get it together RAD corp!

battery design is flawed and customer support not helpful

TL,DR: don't buy, battery will die and you won't get a replacement for weeks (5 and counting in my case)

I bought a rad power city bike 3 months ago. It's a great bike but from there's a problem with the battery. Rad knows that and already gives constraining guidelines for charging.
The power input on the battery is "protected" by a silicon/rubber flip that does not hold in place on a brand new battery.
After a rainy ride, I saw it open, tried to close it. Got a nasty jolt and the battery died. So you basically can't ride in the rain !!
Contacted customer support, they said they need to order a new battery, despite the dozens of similar bikes they have available in their showroom. It's been 5 weeks now, about half the time I owned that bike. Avoid

Update on Review filed June 12, 2022 regarding Lemon Rad City 5 Plus purchased March, 2022.

My husband bought a Rad in March, 2022.
First time he rode....the chain fell off. He took it to a service center (recommended by Rad customer service) to have it put back on. The service center explained the issue as an incorrectly placed mechanism. The bike came put together. The incorrectly placed mechanism caused the chain to fall off when he tried to switch gears.
On his second ride, there were no apparent problems.
On his 3rd time out, the throttle would not engage.
After calling customer service from our site and waiting on the phone for nearly 30 minutes, he was advised to take a video performing several functions and sending it in so they could assess it visually. They determined from the video the motherboard was bad and they would send him another - for him to install. Five days later...they send him an e-mail saying the motherboard is backordered. Since they are still selling these same bikes, he insisted they take it out of one of the new bikes or refund/return his bike. He's not heard back.
I don't know who owns Rad bikes but whom ever it is.......is poorly represented by their customer service employees. I see these types of complaints are not isolated either. Too bad someone doesn't take control of this as it is apparently getting out of hand.

Just bought my Rad Bike today from…Huntington Beach Team

Just bought my Rad Bike today from Huntington Store. I did a lot of homework myself reviewing all makes and then ask a ton of questions once I narrow it down to whom I think may be best before I choose any purchase of this level. The Rad Huntington team from managers down were amazing and patient answering all the detailed questions I had. They all helped me throughout and Lenny even walked my bike and accessories down several floors to my car. Very professional team! Wouldn’t have made this high of purchase if they weren’t. Love my high quality bike as well!

Rad stood behind there promise

I bought a bike December 2021. I paid to have it assembled. Bike shop that put it together messed up and stripped the screws that hold kickstand to the frame. I brought it in several times to the Berkeley store complaining it didn't work. I was told it was fine. Bike falls over in my garage several times. 4th time I take it into store today and was told the person that assembled bike stripped the area the bike attaches to frame and used the wrong bolts. Huh? Really??. Also brakes have sounded strange for 6 weeks. I brought it to store several times concerned. Each time I was told it was safe to ride and it was not a problem. Took it in today and was told I have no brake pads and it's not safe to ride. As a result of the kickstand my bike has multiple scratches, etc, etc.

Kinda wishing I bought another brand.

I took bike back to Berkeley store. They apologized. Fixed all the issues at no charge plus they threw in a free tune up. Cleaned the bike up so it looks like new. The person that helped me was awesome. Best customer service experience ever. I'm going on 60 and I've been around the block more than few times with similar issues. Based on my recent experience I would recommend Rad. Awesome company! Awesome employees. Thank you Rad Berkeley store.

Terrible customer service and product

Terrible customer service and product. Ordered the Rad Rover 6+ and it arrived in a somewhat timely manner. Assembled the bike just like I have my wife’s Rad and friends. When assembly was completed the bike would power up for a split second. Called Rad and they would not authorize a return of a $2000 defective e bike. They sent a new controller for me to install which took some time and it did not remedy the issue. I called again and they again denied a return and sent more parts for me to switch out. I thought when you bought a $2000 bike it was to suppose to work and not have to be rebuilt by the customer. I once again requested a return and was asked to send a video and was denied a return again. Know they want me
To replace wiring harnesses and both displays, not much else left to replace but the tires! I will be sending the bike bake under the test drive clause since they wasted a week sending a part and continuing to deny a return. This is how treats a return customer.

My UK Radrnunner 2 is not fit for purpose

My UK Radrunner 2 is not fit for purpose, the advert said it is good on hills and it absolutely isn't on my first ride it left me in a extremely dangerous position on a fast narrow road with blind bends and no pavement!!! It ran out of peddle asist very soon after the hill started and the set gearing didn't allow me to go anywhere so i had to dismount and push!!! I have realised now I cant ride it anywhere without getting off ot at slitest incline including bridges on a canal towpath the only conclusion is this bike is not fit for purpose in uk and not be available I would have got the plus with the gears, but customer sevice is so bad i should have gone elsewhere 😡👎

Rad-Mission down and support nowhere

Rad Power Bike Rad Mission owner since Sept 2021. Paid to have the bike assembled and delivered. The bike was rideable, however: a back tire flat forced me (a non-do-it-yourself-type) to pay for Rad Mobile Service to install the Tannus Armor bundle on both tires. Denver winter weather was setting in so I stored the bike indoors using the recommended 80% battery level maintenance. Took the bike out for a short rikd on Easter Day and it seemed fine. When I attempted to charge the battery, it would not charge. Opened a Rad Support request Apr 23, and haven’t heard back as of today Apr 26. Took the bike out Mon Apr 25 to run the battery down for a later charge attempt and my Tannus Armor back tire went flat and I couldn’t re-inflate it. Opened another Rad Support amd so far, no contact. So spring is here and my slightly used Rad-Mission has a flat Tannus Armor tire, and it still won’t charge. My solution? Ditch online support and pay for a Rad partner mobile service and attempt to get this crappy bike road-worthy (and sell it). Buying a Rad Power Bike was a huge mistake as their online support is basically non-existent and local eBike shops here won’t work on them. Where is Rad Power Bikes’ “Word Class Support”?.

Update. Rad Powerbikes support finally responded after five days which seems to be their standard queue time. The Rad Powerbike Denver mobile service, now performed by Velofix determined that the original Rad Powerbike mobile service installed the wrong tube size for the Tannus Armor package, causing the flat rear tire. Rad Powerbikes support stated that they will reimburse me for the Velofix mobile charge.

In reference to rad customer service

In reference to rad customer service. What customer service. Answer quick when they think you want a bike, never from them when you need service. good bikes, bad service. Do not buy rad unless you can do it yourself. Almost anything else would be better. Two bikes, no more

WARNING - do not buy from them

WARNING - do not buy!!!!

Crap bikes and terrible customer service. Super expensive and fall apart shortly after the 1 year warranty. I bought two of them in August 2020 during COVID. It’s now March 2022 and the motherboards need to be replaced. RAD wanted to make me pay for new motherboards and installation. Google error code 25 and you’ll see it happens a lot.

My bikes only had 265 and 220 miles on them. Total garbage and each bikes cost me about $6 per mile to ride them in the end. PLEASe go with Cannondale or a reputable brand at similar pricing. Customer service at RAD just says “Oh we’ll, anything else you need” - literally.

Honest Reflection of Business Practices

Unlike other reviews here, I want to give an honest and fair review for Rad Bikes.

Firstly, the bike themselves. The bikes are the best on the market in their price range. They just are. People here who are upset regarding the customer service or speed of shipment that also slammed the product itself are not being fair.

While the organization does have issues with operation standards, it can not be argued that the product itself is great. The quality of parts and specs of the bikes are simply the best in class for the price range. Period.

Secondly, the organization. Plain and simple, Rad is a big business corporation. This was not always the case. There was a time where Rad was a business for the people. There was a time when they cared about people and the little guy/small businesses. Unfortunately, they have become so successful that this is no longer the case. Now, the mission of bringing an affordable e-bike to the people has faded away. Now their goal is like all other big businesses; Money.

When I first started supporting Rad, they really tried to work with customers to provide a great product at a price people could afford combined with the best possible purchasing and customer service experience possible. Unfortunately with their massive success, that has disappeared.

In 2022 the company raised their prices by $200-$300 per bike. While not a huge jump, it was big enough that now people who could previously afford to purchase a bike, are no longer able to afford them. Just read reviews on their website and you will see numerous reviews from previous customers satisfied with the bike who would have liked to buy another, but due to the price increase are now unable. It is unfortunate that they have chosen to leave valued customers behind (including myself). A big part of being a respected company is valuing returning customers.

Now, I know price increase is just a part of business. However, I read the article released by upper management on the justification for raising the prices, and unfortunately it fell very flat. Like most bike retailers, Rad is one of the few business that grew during the pandemic. So while they claim the price increase is a result of increased production cost, this just wasn't needed. Rad flourished during COVID-19. They didn't need to raise prices. They chose to because they could.

The bottom line is, Rad has become more successful and they found a way to make production cheaper for them, and that is by passing the cost on to the consumer.

I know that this is just the way business works, but it was not the way Rad operated previously. In the past they treated their customers like people. Now they treat them like dollar signs. This shift is a bummer. Bikes that were once accessible to almost everyone are now only for the rich.

At one time, Rad valued partnership with small business. They worked with business owners to create meaningful partnerships. Again, due to their rapid growth, that has also disappeared.

At one point I had hoped that my entire fleet of e-bikes for my small e-bike tour company would be Rad. Unfortunately Rad has made a series of decisions that has made that impossible. Like a lot of businesses in America, Rad just has no desire to work with the little guy anymore. I purchased 2 bikes already and had planned to purchase another 7. I was told in no uncertain terms by my Rad agent, that simply was not enough for them to work with me. I was even willing to buy a model Rad has decided to discontinue in the coming weeks. Even buying an old, discontinued model, they were uninterested.

If you are a big business or over priced reseller Rad might be the partner for you. If you are a small business or individual looking to for a quality partnership to help accomplish your dreams, unfortunately Rad just isn't interested.

As a individual, these bikes are incredible. You really will get a good quality bike and good customer service. I encourage all individual purchasers looking for a quality e-bike to pick up a Rad (I would wait for one of their promotions to make the price more in line with 2021 prices) But if you are a small business looking for an affordable and thoughtful partnership, I would look elsewhere. Your hopes and dreams are of little interest to Rad, and your requests will fall on deaf ears. While $10,800 might not be enough for Rad to take notice, it was all my small business could manage. Unfortunately, it just wasn't enough.

Avoid this company!

This is a company that just tells you what you want to hear whilst taking your money then makes a thousand excuses for non delivery. I have bought a Radrunner which took 2 months to arrive and only did so when I threatened to cancel the order. I am still waiting on the fenders even though they are saying on their website they are in stock. What should have been an enjoyable experience has become a total pain. Mike Radenbaugh the owner of Radpower bikes appears to be nothing but a cheap conman. Hey Mike, on the off chance you come to trustpilot to see what the people you rip off say about you - stop selling bikes you can't deliver until you can catch up on old orders. Stop making bike buying a nightmare. I wouldn't touch Radpower bikes again, not in a million years.

Update - Having ridden the Radrunner for a week I have to say I'm deeply underwhelmed. Anyone buying this for an easy ride should think again, it still requires a LOT of work go get it up a steep hill, to the point where I was thinking about getting off and pushing. It doesn't have the power to get it up hills in the UK/EU mode, the bike itself is too heavy for the power. I'm going to look at unrestricting it, it's almost useless as it comes. I do cycle touring and I'm pretty fit but even I was sweating getting it up a hill with full power assist and throttle. The bike basically isn't fit for purpose if you live somewhere hilly. Sick of it already, going to sell it or unrestrict, I've already written the money off. Nothing but a happy clappy, world class customer con job. Avoid.

25th Jan update

I am still waiting for my fenders, that is three months, over winter, when I really needed them. Radpower are a total disgrace and a bunch of liars too boot. Every excuse under the sun for non delivery. I truly wouldn't wish this buying experience on my worst enemy. Absolutely abysmal company.

Customer service is awful

Customer service is awful. I ordered a replacement charger a few days before Christmas. I was bummed it didn’t ship before the holiday but 2 days after it still not shipped. Then I received a text saying item has been shipped yesterday which is a blatant lie. The UPS tracking number says only label created. After 8 days still no shipment and all I have s a useless pod bike

do not buy RAD bikes !!!

my experience has been less then a pleasant ride through the country, first, their idea of shipping within 72 hours is a moving target, next, each time I called and talked with a person, a different person, I was lied too, oh, they are so pleasant to speak with but the lies come out so calm and smooth, the first person tells me there is movement in the warehouse for shipping my bikes, rats cockroaches and ? move in the warehouse as to my question, what is the shipping status, countless emails to Sami and a promise of shipping on a certain date, the bikes were not shipped that date, all n all, thee worst experience of buying anything, I would never buy from them and advise no one should do so, they just don't understand how they are doing, total failure, do not buy
