This is hurting musicians
Just right now at one of the concerts and I got so desperate for some clue about what I am witnessing that I came across your post. I did some digging (trying my very best to keep myself distracted from what is happening on stage) and found out that this "candle light" franchise, find musicians last minute and than pretend that the chamber music is some norm of consecrated? Or that the people played before together? And to be honest, it sounds like a lie too. The guys are very together, they seem to be having very different intentions and directions, and, most painful, different tunings. The pieces are written "easily" so I don't think anyone thought to practice beforehand, or didn't have enough time. Also, I don't want to sound mean, but the group is (and most probably will always be) made up of... "Ok" musicians, if not meh. Where I am now, the first violin seems to have forgotten that the same note will be found on the same spot on the tongue.
Bottom line, I wish, if you already did buy some tickets, for the concert to "be postponed" or "canceled" and either get your money back or not. Just... Don't go.
Musicians deserve time to practice, good arrangements, and the financial incentive. This type of business must stop.

NOT a candlelight experience (mis-sellling)
Went to Carmina Burana by candlelight yesterday.
The musicians (choir) were very good hence the rating is not even lower.
Other than that the experience was a complete disappointment.
In contrast to other « by candlelight » experiences, the atmosphere was completely lacking impact, quality, imagination, immersion.
Using a handful of candles does NOT turn a concert into a candlelight experience.

So over priced
So over priced. The young musicians were clearly talented, but I have no idea who they were as there were no introductions or programmes. Vivaldi didn’t write Four Seasons for a string quartet, but that’s all we got on stage. And the concert was just one hour long. The performance was ok, about what I’d expect from a talented student ensemble.
I get the business model, but to pull off a quartet version of the piece, in a one hour concert for £30 a ticket you have to make it special. As a minimum programmes should have been provided. Or the performers should have engaged more with the audience.
At ~£15 a ticket, this concert would have been fine. But when you can see a whole world class symphony orchestra for £30, this was just too expensive.

Poor communication no tickets
I had trouble getting anyone to answer emails or Instagram or Facebook messages to buy access tickets. Eventually a response but now I am attending an event tonight in York at 6pm but have no tickets despite having paid 2 weeks ago!

Think twice before booking with this organizer
I attended the Vivaldi concert in Zuiderkerk, Amsterdam, and left feeling scammed and very sad for the young artists involved (all I can hope they get fairly compensated). The concept could be nice, but the execution is shockingly poor and clearly prioritizes profit over the actual performance.
Tickets were overpriced and misleadingly tiered (the front sections cost nearly double the back, even though the venue is quite small, making such pricing unreasonable.) During the show, the house lights were left on, making the audience brighter than the performers. No microphones were provided, so whenever the artists spoke, it was almost impossible to hear them, something unacceptable in a larger venue. Sadly, this isn’t new. I attended another of their events a few years ago and had similar experience: glossy advertisements, but a horribly organized show. If I had realized it was the same organizer, I would never have bought tickets again. Even the cheapest ticket at €30 felt like a waste. Please, organizers, you have to do something about this. I’ve seen many more similar reviews - it’s horrible that so many events are put together in such a poor way, it misleads the public and sets a very low standard for what cultural events should be!

Ordered tickets for an event by Red Events by Eventbrite, but never received these. When requesting a repayment, Red Events took no action whatsoever to repay me. Horrible support.
Edit 12/02/2026: did not get any reply on my e-mail below either.
Edit 17/02/2026: please provide proof of the ARN number of the repayment. I already asked EventBrite multiple times via e-mail to transfer this information. Without ARN number, my bank cannot retrace anything.

Restricted view without warning
We paid a lot of money to see a Lord of the Rings orchestra performance so we were very annoyed when we got there to discover we couldn't see the orchestra at all and were instead staring at the wall of a church. There had been absolutely no indication during the booking process that these were restricted view seats which was incredibly disappointing for the money paid. The customer service is also very poor, they respond to emails very slowly and when they finally did all they said was they'd improve it for the next people, which doesn't help us a lot! Wouldn't use again, poor experience overall
No view of performance we paid for without warning
I purchased Lord of the Rings Tribute tickets for my boyfriend and myself at Southwark Cathedral and when purchasing the tickets there was no indication of 'restricted view' or in fact 'no view' at all. On arrival a whole section of us were seated behind a huge pillar in the cathedral and couldn't see any of the performers. There was nothing to look at and felt like we could have just been listening to the radio.
After leaving feeling very disappointed, especially as this had been a birthday gift. I contacted Red Events saying I've been missold and didn't get the performance promised after paying over £60 for the tickets. Their response was incredibly disappointing, saying that they are going to change the seating for future customers and although we didn't actually see any of the performance, didn't offer anything to rectify what I had paid for and to reflect what we actually got. Only a 15% off future purchases which goes without saying we won't be using as we cannot trust the company as they didn't even check out a what they blamed as a 'new venue' enough to think putting 50 seats behind a huge cathedral pillar would be okay. They want to profit from spending more with them off their own mistake.
I have emailed back explaining we have been treated like guinea pigs and paid the same for a worse experience and have since been ignored. Really awful customer service and way to treat people after they've booked an experience with you. Avoid this company at all costs
Was lovely
Was lovely. I attended to the Music of Harry Potter by Mystery Ensemble.
Quality price very good. Had an upgrade on the seating with a great view for free. Lasted 1h15min total.
They have added a few candles in the proximity of the musicians, was a nice touch, but some more would have been even better!
Overall I recommend it.
Another great concert checked and next…
Another great concert checked and next week another one ahead! Mystery Ensemble is my most favourite in London. I love the passion of all of the crew, the moments they are smiling, communicating with audience throughout the acts! And I simply cannot get my eyes of the pianist- her devotion is mesmerising and all over her face.
On Saturday
On Saturday, July 12th, we visited the Zuiderkerk in Amsterdam to attend the Symphonic Rock Hits.
The event is far too expensive for the amateurish quality of the performance. 65 minutes of music for 46 euros per person is equivalent to a Robbie Williams concert in the Amsterdam Arena!
The performance, with five string players and a pianist, was subpar. It had a very student-like feel with many errors.
The performers didn't say anything except for the announcement of the first song and the last. There was no interaction with the audience.
Artistically, everything was neglected to make it look appealing. It's unbelievable that you can advertise so much for a product that is completely out of balance in terms of price/quality.
My advice: don't go. Far, far too expensive for what you get.
The musicians made the whole show
The musicians made the whole show. It was so raw. Amazing!

Vivaldi's dark experience
The positive:
I attended and very much enjoyed 'Vivaldi's Four Seasons by Candlelight' at Kensington's United Reformed Church by the Mystery Ensemble on 30th May 2025. The music was absolutely superb, the performers were excellent.
The negative:
I could not see their faces or movements as there was no lighting upon them, which was taking candlelight a little too far. It was as if they were silhouetted as shadow puppets against a lighter background. They also started 15 minutes late. And I would have liked to have seen short bios of the musicians, or at least their names.
Great ensemble
Lovely venue, good appreciative audience, great ensemble playing well and giving a perfect tribute to Max Richters music.
