Scammers

Warning! Don't deal with them.

We had the worst Spanish company experience with Rental Plus.
1. They won't give you the model of the car that you booked.
2. Our car was not 100% safe to drive; the back light at night did not work.
3. They will give you the car with no petrol.
4. They won't return your deposit, and they won't answer your messages after you complain. They still owe me money with no answers.

Seriously, run away from this company.

Beware, wicked "no-show" policy

I know this won't make any difference, but just in case someone else has the same experience with this or another company with a strict and unforgiving “no-show” cancellation policy.

My family has two cars, and today, in a perfect storm, both are in the shop for long-term repairs. No one can lend us a vehicle, and we urgently need to get home (we live in another town), pick up our child from school, etc. So we turned to this company.

I reserve and pay online the car for three days with a pick-up time today at 12:00 and return on Monday at 10:30. I pay. I have to wait for a friend to come and pick me up in the town where I am (where the repair shop is) and take me to the RentalPlus office in Port de Sagunt (approx. 25 min away) to pick up the rental car.

Still waiting for my friend, a little after 11:00 a.m., RentalPlus calls me and tells me that I have reserved for “10:30 a.m.” and that according to their Cancellation Policy: “If the CUSTOMER contracts the BASIC RATE: They have a 30-minute grace period to pick up the car they have rented. If the contract is delayed, it will be automatically terminated.” And they won't refund the payment.

I tell them that I booked for 12:00, not 10:30, but they say no. It's their word against mine, but I'm sure I booked for 12:00. I'm almost certain that the system rounded up the pick-up time to 10:30 so that the rental would be for exactly three days (from 10:30 to 10:30). They offer me, “as a courtesy”, the car for an extra 30 euros a day (wow! thanks). I insist again on the time of the booking. They tell me no, that I booked at 10:30. And that's that (their word against mine).

Well, okay, never mind, it's fine, it doesn't matter. I'm telling you that I'm on my way there, that I'm taking the car, for the same price, for the same duration. I'm renting from you because I trusted you. I have an emergency and I need a car. Period. Apart from the fact that I still firmly believe that I booked a 12:00 pick-up and a 10:30 return three days later, the big question of good customer service is very basic: CAN'T YOU REALLY RELAX YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY JUST A LITTLE, ONE HOUR, JUST ONE HOUR? I was on my way, I would have taken the car. You would have earned the same money and a good customer (sometimes I need cars for work too, anywaY). Thanks for nothing. And you have kept my 160 eur.

The only good thing was the woman who helped me on WhatsApp, who was really very friendly. The “bosses” didn't even say good morning. Well, as I was saying, my opinion won't make any difference, those who operate like this will continue to do so.

Worst service and most unpolite customer service i ever had in my life

Booked and paid the car on rentalplus.es
Wanted to pick up in Alhaurin el Grande
They had no idea in the shop that i am coming. I had no credit card so i wanted to pay the deposit with debit card. They told me only possible if they can make a copy of the card, also the CVV number. They wanted to do the photo with their phone. I told them no way. Then i called the phone number what was in the confirmation email. The only thing what they told me when i asked them to send my money back was: Fuc... off !!! I really do not understand how can people be like that!

Went to pick up car - no car available

Booked car rental from Alhaurin el Grande on 5th of October for same day, booking made around 13h and pickip at 19h, only to find out "we dont have car, come back on Monday". So we would pay two extra days, while not actually having a car. We have visitors and would love to show them around where we live, but nope. I sent in a reclamation email on same day, asking for refund and cancellation but no one is bothering to answer. They wont answer thru Whatsapp either. Will visit the pickup shop later today (7th of October) and I hope I'll get some resolutions for this.

Not even collected the car yet and…

Not even collected the car yet and ALREADY there are problems...

I have paid for a car that I am to pick up two days from now at Rentalplus in Murcia and I have just received a message telling me that I have an allowance of 700 kms when the contract clearly states 1,050 kms and that I need to pay a €2,500 deposit, even though I purchased the highest level of cover possible.

Clearly, given the reviews here, I am in no hurry to hand over that kind of money and then have a battle to get it back once I return the car. With the level of cover that I have purchased, there should be absolutely no need whatsoever for me to pay a penny more as anything that could go wrong is already included in that cover.

This is a VERY shady practice and certainly gives the impression of a VERY shady company.

Oh, and the person that sent me the message is now ignoring my calls.

Very worrying. As it stands, I advise anybody even thinking about renting a car from them to look elsewhere. If anything changes, I will update my review.

UPDATE:

So, arrived to find that the car that I had signed up for was not available and a far inferior car was being offered in exchange. Having booked an automatic petrol car for a VERY specific reason, the replacement diesel was simply unacceptable. Pointing out that there was a car of at least the same make and model right there in the window brought a few excuses regarding that being for sale and not for rent, an excuse that may have been believable were it not for the fact that the "replacement" literally had a sheet of paper with the price on it on the dashboard!

Ended up with a manual diesel which was not what I had requested (and no refund for the difference in price that I should have received) but the car was in decent condition and ran well.

The deposit was returned almost instantly, although the fact that the need for it is hidden on their website is a bad start and something that the company should review urgently.

Overall a very negative experience and one which I will not repeat. There is simply way too much competition in this area for a company to think that it is so far above its customers as this one clearly does.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. Gave me the car with no gas, but wrote it had 1/4 tank. I said en route there was no way it was correct. Agent said it was a mistake. When I mentioned it during drop-off, agent said I was trying to ruin his day, then told me to get the f*** out of his office with other customers in shock. As I was leaving, he threatened to beat me up. This was at the Vallehermoso St. location. Stay away - agent is complete psycho!!

enforcing to purchase extra insurance

- they don't speak English, only Spanish
- we communicated exclusively via Google translate at the office desk with the agent
- they tried to enforce purchasing the insurance even though this was included in the overall price I paid (via booking.com), insisting to pay extra 150eur or they don't provide me any car (even though I had CDW and TP insurance covered by the voucher, credit card etc)
- they tried similar thing on other couple (they complained about not paying for an extra driver, nor for extra insurance) while I was there returning my car, so I guess this is their thing
- I wanted to change only the pick up date to next day but they did not accept it, they said I should purchase the insurance to be able to modify my booking (?!)

Terrible experience

Terrible experience, I would not recommend anyone to rent a car with them: not so much because of the hour-long wait to "prepare the rental documents", but for the foolish and unfair way they handled the accident I had. After buying an all-inclusive insurance policy (150€), the car had an accident without any fault of my own: after more than ten phone calls and hours of discussions complicated by the fact that almost none of the employees speak English, I was assured that they would give me a replacement car, only to find out later that this would only be possible after the wrecked car had returned from the accident site (Olvera) to the rental place, in Seville. The information provided by the insurance company, and the declaration of the Guardia Civil were of no use. Result: two wasted travel days, taxi and two additional nights' hotel accommodation in Seville at my expense. Let's see if I will get a refund (I will update this review), certainly the trip has been spoiled due to the dullness of their rules and employees.

Very bad and not compassionate renting at Rental Plus Paterna

RentalPlus in Paterna in Valencia is very very bad. First they gave a smaller car then we booked in advance. Secondly the car is worn out and had many damages all around. Fortunately i recorded everything when they handed it to us. Also the milage.

The thing that irritated us the most is the ignoring we experienced when we had to return the car. They did not cooperate or compassionate at all with us having to catch a flight. They do knew we had to, but the girl behind the desk was irritated and grumpy and we had to wait almost an hour before she had handled two customers who came to rent a car. She was grumbling Spanish swear words which my daughter and i overheard. She was annoying saying we just had to wait because she had to handle them first. This while the return of the car took a total of 15min max. We were fully insured on any damage and we had none so there was no excuse or risk to let us wait. And even so, those customers were already going to get a car anyway. Clients returning their cars should have full priority! This is why i advise AGAINST renting with this particular branch. Never ever again for us.

One last thing is; IF you rent a car here, be sure there is EXTRA financial space on you credit card for additional costs which are not told on the website.

Rentalplus is a very bad company

Rentalplus is a very bad company. We rented a broken car, we had to change it to another car. The communication was so slow and NO service! Only waiting! They promised us to give 100 euro's back. We are trying now for 3 months to get our money back. No communication, no reply's on emails. On the phone every time the same answer: "we give your money back" But they dont do it! Dont go to rentalplus. Go to MALCO. There you get service and they know how you have to deal with customers.

SCAMMERS!!

SCAMMERS!!! This is the worst rental car company I have used. I have traveled the world for over 30 years and have rented cars from many different companies. Their website looks good, the price was good and I chose a 7-seater without insurance, space for a large and a small suitcase. When I went to pick up the car in Alicante, I had to pay 420 euros for insurance because I only had a debit card (with enough coverage) and not a credit card. They then gave me a Kia with zero luggage space and an empty gas tank.
When we had to return the car, the shop didn't open until 0930, so I had to speak to someone in the neighboring building to return the car. When I finally got on the plane, I received an email that they had charged me 150 euros because there was some candy wrappers on the floor of the car. I asked for pictures and got pictures of the same candy wrapper from different angles... so STAY AWAY FROM THIS CAR RENTAL COMPANY

Good afternoon sir, first of all we want to apologize for the inconvenients you have may had during your rental period.
After reviewing your claim, we have to clarify few things about it.
When you made your reservation with the Basic Rate, it is pretty clear that the payment should be made using a CREDIT CARD, due the high liability you are taking. As you may know due to your experience renting cars, it is a common practice to demand at least a Credit Card to cover the Deposit/excess.
You paid that amount to add an inssurance to your rental, by choice, we are just following the cmopany´s policy about it, a debit card is not guarantee enough for the high risk you took when you chose the Basic rate, once again, it is clear in Terms and Conditions.
The Kia you got, is exactly the model published in the website corresponding to the category you booked.
The office openning hours can´t be more clear in the website, and your returning time was expected to be 17:30, when the office is fully running.
About the candy wrappers, just checked the pictures myself and found quite more things than just "candy wrappers", as you may remember.
Given all that, we want to apologize once again if we generate some inconvenients during your trip.

Alicante hire car

Booked a hire car for 11 days from the Alicante branch and all went well. Got a taxi from the airport which took 10 minutes and cost 20 euro, did the paperwork and was on our way quickly.
Booked a Corsa and was given a Kia Ceed with about 26000km on it and a few small marks which I photographed just in case but wasn't concerened as we'd taken out their full Toatal Plus insurance package.
On return about 19.00 on the Saturday evening there was only a car salesman there to return the keys to but it all was all good and he phoned a taxi for us to get back to the airport.
Will use agin if the extorinate prices charged with the airport hire car companies don't come down to a reasonable level.

Terrible Company avoid like the plague!! Just didn’t care that they were letting me down.

I rang them and they confirmed a vehicle was available for the folowing day, including at extra cost child seats etc. I was sent a confirmation on email and ask to pay in advance of picking up the vehicle. However, on the day I was due to pick up the vehicle (only 2 hours before the arranged pick-up time), I got a whats app message followed by a call to inform me that they didn’t infact have a car available. Earlier that morning, they had confirmed the pick-up time and everything was in order, payment had been received etc. When I complained they refused to do anything about it other refund my money. They even hung up the phone on us, rather than face the music.
Avoid this company like the plague. The way I was treated was a disgrace. They couldn’t give a monkeys, that my plans and more importantly my children’s day (we had planned to drive the children to see their grandmother some 1.5 hours drive from where we were staying) was ruined.
I never even received a proper apology.

The only negative point would be that, after having booked online, we weren't able to make changes to our booking in person because it was done online, not in store (although it said 'free changes'...!?!)

Absolutely disgusting service!!!

Absolutely disgusting service. They got me the wrong category car - instead of a diesel car (for which I made an extra payment), I was given a petrol car, resulting in me losing fuel money on a long trip. My gold visa embossed business credit card, with a limit of 5000 euros, was not accepted, apparently to sell expensive insurance. The difference between the regular insurance and the car category price was still not refunded. Also, they delayed issuing the car for almost two hours, which resulted in me being late for the airport. Terrible!!!
