Fantastic support and uptime

We have moved our business site, quite a complex one at that, to Rosehosting a few months ago. Fantastic support during the migration and after that. Uptime is better than advertised and support is super fast when we manage to break something. Couldn't be happier, everything is much better than the previous host we were with, which I don't even want to mention.

Thanks Rosehosting.

A poor initial experience followed by unacceptable uptime.

== Review last updated 26th May 2019 ==

We signed up with RoseHosting for a managed VPS service late 2018. Their reviews looked pretty good compared to some of the competition, and the pricing was reasonable. The other option we were looking at was SiteGround, who gets consistently amazing reviews.

Initial experience was not good. We were put onto an ancient (8 year old CPU) DDR3 machine, which was deathly slow. Confronting support (since they advertised DDR4 servers....) we were told that running benchmarks is against the ToS! No apology was provided, but we were moved to a better performing server, and we are presently happy with the current performance.

It started out... ok. We experienced occasional downtime, but it didn't appear to always be server related, since sometimes the RoseHosting main website went offline at the same time as our site, which suggested possible network issues.

The support team seemed responsive, and it was easy to get onto live chat. However, even when we asked, they offered nothing in the way of explanations of what caused the outages. This is our main business website - if our website goes down for any serious length of time we stand to lose a lot of money. While outages were generally short, at rosehosting they seem to occur more frequently than with other hosts - even compared with the cheapest budget hosting company that I currently use.

I kept hoping that things improve from here, as it is hard to find good reliable hosting, so good hosts should be treasured like gold. But I continued to be disappointed.

On 26th of April, Rosehosting suffered a major outage with their core network hardware, which took both our and theirs site offline for well over 2 hours. It took over 1hr for the outage to be posted on their network status page. I would have expected some redundancy on all core routing hardware, but perhaps there was a failure that affected that too.

Following this outage, I have provided a copy of the reply that Rosehosting sent to me below, at the end of my review. Make of it what you want – I don't think I need to add any more. For anyone that is curious, our main site is now sitting safely with SiteGround.

One other thing to be aware of that especially concerns me (and I hope it's not true!) it looks like there's credible claims of review sock-puppeting from RoseHosting occuring. So make sure you inspect reviews thoroughly.

=== Past Site Downtime (outage > 5 minutes) ===

• 4th Oct 2018: Signed up to Rosehosting - no outages that year!

===========
26th April 2019

Hi Mr. P,

We are sorry that you went through another outage earlier today. This outage was due to a catastrophic hardware failure of one of our switches, a failure that we had no prior warning about. We handled this issue in the fastest time possible. We also understand that you expect the service to be available 100% of the time and unfortunately that was not the case for you today and in the past few months. Unfortunately, hardware fails with no warning sometimes, and it will continue to fail as all hardware does sooner or later. This was due to an unfortunate series of events that mostly affected the equipment you specifically were hosted on. No other customer has seen so many outages and the experience you had is in no way typical for our average customer or for our service in general, which has been stellar since 2001.

Our biggest priority is the satisfaction of our customers and it appears that in your case we failed to deliver and your satisfaction with our service has never been worse. Because of this we feel you will be much better served elsewhere, which is why we are sorry to inform you that we will be terminating your services and closing your account at the end of May (05/31/2019). We will also refund your payment for April and will not bill you for the month of May while you arrange to move your data to another provider. In addition, our admins will be ready to help you with your outgoing migration.

Thanks for your understanding and we apologize again for the inconvenience.

status.rosehosting.com is used every time there is any sort of disruption of service affecting multiple customers or the operations in general. The status page is not meant to display outages of single clients or single servers, that is why we have the fully managed 24x7 support. As you already mentioned, you contacted our support and were assisted immediately. Our SLA is available at https://www.rosehosting.com/sla.html and it outlines all the service level guarantees. Thanks.

Edit: April 10th 2019 - Again, the status page is not there to show if and when your service goes down. It is supposed to show any issues affecting multiple customers, or servers. Personal monitoring is available for this purpose instead. If the customer asked our technical support for an explanation they would have definitely provided him with it.

Avoid this provider at all cost

Avoid this provider at all cost. We are a small non-profit Association that had our web site developed then hosted with RoseHosting. The site cost us about $3000. Once this site was installed we set up auto-pay and they continued to bill us annually with no problems. When our credit card on file expired in January after the 3rd year of auto renewing; they sent automated email reminders which were not received on our side. We were advised by some of the association members in early February that our site was down. We followed up with Rose Hosting immediately and their billing and support said they had deleted all of our data and there was no way for us to pay a re-reinstatement fee to have our site and data restored. This was done on the 27th day of January. Also, they had made no effort to call or text us to notify us the billing had expired before deleting all of our data. In addition when we spoke to the billing support they were highly unprofessional. Your data is definitely not backed up or secure with this company and they do not have your best interest in mind.

Unfortunately, every company will cancel the service if it's unpaid for a certain time period. Our billing processes are outlined in much detail in section 6 in our TOS (Terms of Service) at https://www.rosehosting.com/tos.html

We sent numerous emails to the customer notifying him that his account is unpaid. We have also temporarily suspended (shut down) his server after his invoice was 7 days overdue and sent him a notification about this as well. He did not notice his site being offline for over 20 days and simply ignored all the notifications. After his invoice was over 30 days overdue his server was terminated as scheduled. Even then it took him additional 20 days or so to notice that his site is offline and contact us. Usually important sites/systems are being monitored by a third party exactly to avoid such scenarios, but it seems they did not have any site monitoring that would notify them if their site was down.

absolute crap. loves to debate.

absolute crap. never fixes anything.

doesnt know http from an ip address..its always about the ip address...yours or thiers..problem has nothing to do with an IP address- but they insist on asking anyways bc theyre so dumb and script kiddied.

doesnt know jack about setup nor hosting of websites. Doesnt install web panels at all- you have to ask for them. They are not preconfigured on the server images. Does not offer LAMP- offers LAMP as a "feature" of the operating system. Its up to you to setup and install the full taco.

Ive been hosting for years- 7 companies and 13 complaints to ICANN for a domain that according to copywright law is legally my IP. Wants to vendor lock it in again by updating ICANN. I refuse the lockout.

needs to hand over my domain, its keys etc at once -before getting sued w a president approved IP lawsuit.

This subcontracted to hell company thinks things are a game- I bet the same arsehat writing my inbox is complaining here. Thats how small the non-existant company is.

If it existed- it would have a CEO, a CFO listed publicly. NONE are showing. Thats standard business practice AFTER LESS THAN ONE YEAR. I just folded a business. Its common business knowledge about publicity of information after filing legally required documents.

Not throwing this back at me- you convinced me to hand over my domain- offered no assistance, blacklisted my IP address, my credit card, my domain name-- then want to debate the fact that your servers are refusing to load images. AND THEY WERE.

This is not my fault and when confronted about it- you closed my account because you dont give a damn about your customers.

If companies are getting repeated minus anything stars it because they need to resolve problems- not pass the buck , not play the blame game.

I charge 20mil for defamation.
This is the truth.

Im a certified Admin- have been so since 2001. I have two active(A plus, netware 5)- one inactive certifications(MCP). I am finishing my bachelors after 10 years of rough seas with bad colleges and life.

I have an above TS security clearance with the DoD.
I worked as a naval media mate. If I cant be trusted to give an HONEST review- nobody can. AND comments of said nature are slander.

tech support is nonexistant.

dont know what this company has been formerly- but obviously not in IT for as long as it claims to have been. if so- I would have heard about it(I was in college when they came online). I was ONLINE then under a different TRADEMARK.

They did reimburse me (TODAY 9-20) after fighting with them over my money.

Never coming close to a company like this ever again. At least hostgator sounded dumb- and I could tell from 3am ignorance that some idiot left the startup script in crashed mode.

Needless to say im not with them anymore, neither.

Needs to apologze to ICANN- which needs to apologize to me- about my OWNERSHIP of MY DOMAIN TRADEMARK and immediately provide the unlock sequence without any more bs. There is no I..I..I..I I..you are trying to lock me out of my domain as we speak w ICANN by not notifying them of my refusal to agree with thier lockout.

DOMAIN updates seize domains for 6mos.

I told you not to do this. YOU DID IT ANYWAY. You owe me 6mos of downtime while I CANNOT use my domain name- AND the cost of anew temporary one, AND the BY THE HOUR FEE at 35/hr to update my website THAT YOU CAUSED by your negligence.

--NO, I dont need you nor ICANN.
I DO have a working .BIT domain- two of them and they are LIVE as we speak with over 25 nodes each.

But after five years- WHEN I OWN THE TRADEMARK and COPYWRIGHT- (it doesnt need to be filed for) this is where I draw the line. When I am about to go public as an organization (.ORG) is not the time to screw with me.

Hand over the domain or both you and ICANN are risking a international lawsuit.

Hows this for your lawyers?
You can subtract three more stars.

There is no true claim in his entire review, zero. We will address every false claim this person posted:

We have been doing this since 2001(proof below), and we know a lot about hosting and different setups. In fact, we offer the best managed Linux hosting service on the market, which is evident by the thousands of glowing positive reviews of our customers around the Internet. The fact that he had the same problems with 7 other hosting companies and has 13 complaints with ICANN speaks volumes. We don't even want to talk about the absolutely terrible insults and foul language he so casually uses with our technical support staff. We could post some screenshots of the support tickets but they are so vile and upsetting that we really think they should not be public.

We do not vendor lock anything. Obviously he does not know anything about how domain transfers work and how ICANN is related to domain registrars. Every change of data for any domain is recorded at ICANN, whether he wants that or not. There is no lock on the domain and he is free to transfer it elsewhere as soon as the mandated 60 days pass since the most recent transfer. The following is the ICANN regulation about the 60 days rule that all domain registrars have to follow:

https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/about-transfer-policy-2017-10-10-en <- Check section 3, items 6 and 7

This is a screenshot from the client area that shows that his domain is unlocked: https://imgur.com/NxuVIF0

As for the false claim about the refund, which was processed immediately, you can see from the following screenshot from the payment gateway we use. Look at the timestamp of the refund transaction: https://imgur.com/VgbVMQF

Nothing has been blacklisted, not his IP address, not his credit card (how would we even do that?), not his domain name, it is his domain and is expiring in 2020.

Tech support is very much existant, everyone can check that, you can check our live chat 24x7, try it at night or during weekends or holidays. It is staffed with extremely well trained Linux admins, and claiming otherwise is a big insult to all the fine people making this company the best hosting provider on the market. We have in fact been on the market since 2001 (luckily, this is easy to verify, look at the link below), and the fact that he has not heard of us says more about him than us. We are not a well known name as some of the largest hosting companies out there and we are not trying to be. We are actually focused on a steady growth with a number of customers we can sustain and provide with stellar service, something that's very rarely seen, if ever, in this industry. We want to make sure the quality of support does not decline over time with the sales growth.

You can check the virtual server sales page of our original site back in 2001 here: https://web.archive.org/web/20010924043306/http://www.rosehosting.com:80/virtserv.htm
Check the date of the capture.

Last, but not least, we have never called this person's cell phone.

The domain is not locked and is not unusable as the user claims. He can point the DNS A record to his server's ip at any time and use the domain regardless of where the domain is currently registered at.
As for the refund, there was absolutely no fighting at all. The refund was submitted immediately but as everyone knows, credit card refunds are not instantly available. They take 3-4 business days to go through the merchant account processor and the clearing house. The refund was posted for the full amount, regardless of the fact that his domain's expiration has been extended until 2020.
As for the domain unlock sequence (not sure what that is), assuming he is thinking about the EPP authorization code which required to transfer the domain to another domain registrar, it has been sent to him by email along with a note to let him know that the domain can be used just fine if the DNS A record is updated to point to his new server's IP address.

And again, our company has been not only in IT since 2001, but actually providing Linux VPS hosting when noone else did, since 2001. This can all be verified at archive.org
We have a CEO and a CFO and everything else it needs in terms of staff, however only publicly traded companies have the legal obligation to disclose their management staff.

Excellent service and support

I have used Rosehosting for the last 3 years and their service has been excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend this hosting service, for newbies like me (who dabbles but has no formal training and uses their tech support to manage all the difficult stuff) to an experienced user who wants complete freedom to manage their server the way they want to. I have used Rosehosting tech support to install SSL, to ask silly questions in the middle of the night (including a memorable occasion when I upgraded my maria database and lost all my info!) and they are always polite, efficient and responsive.

Rose Hosting is literally the best hosting company I have ever worked with

I ask a lot of a hosting company. After months of research my specs for our new hosting was 2 pages in length. I had high hopes.

Rose Hosting knocked it out of the park. Their tech support is more knowledgable than anyone I have ever worked with. Our page load times are down to 1.3 seconds. That means a ton more leads for us, and our leads are worth $500 each.

If you need a high-performance hosting company then you absolutely have to consider Rose Hosting. I highly recommend them.
