When we got in line, there were 2 agents at the counter - apparently both needed a break. It was 10:45 pm. One ignored all customers and walked out. There were 4 customers to be helped. Luckily, King... See more

When i got to the counter i was quoted…
When i got to the counter i was quoted $1250more if i wanted to use my own insurance + $600 deposit, other option was to buy their insurance for $1800 for 15 day rental of a Toyota Corolla or similar, I had prepaid the rental online, everyone that was coming in to pick up their vehicle was getting scammed, the location was in Tampa Florida, I ended up cancelling with Routes and went to Sixth Car Rental across the street and rented from them. Lost my money that i pre paid at Routes but I couldn't trust them with my credit card. Do yourself a favour and stay away from Routes Car rental, Stride Car rental, Advantage Car rental and Mex Rent a Car, total fraud.
I had booked a vehicle and when I went…
I had booked a vehicle and when I went to pick it up I was asked if I wanted insurance. I told them that I had coverage through my car insurance. I was asked for proof , which I did not have. I was forced to purchase this added insurance. I told the lady at the counter that I just wanted to forget about the rental and was told it was to late. Also, the deposit was set at $1500 from the $500 I was told because of the added insurance. When I verified my insurance the next day, I called their customer service number to get a refund and was told that they WOULD NOT refund it. This is a scam. Do not go here
Ripped off
I secured a rental car through my flight purchase on Priceline - when I went to pick up my rental car, in Denver, I was met with a friendly service agent, who told me numerous times, the charges for gas and insurance were holds only on my account - upon return of the vehicle, if I had filled the vehicle up with gas and returned it undamaged, I would be returned the prepaid fuel charge and the additional insurance. It didn't make sense to me, so I asked numerous times, and was assured, the charge was only a hold. I returned the vehicle full of gas and undamaged and was still charged for fuel and for the additional insurance - I've been emailing with different customer service reps for 17 days arguing my point and for a refund - if you use Routes, do not trust the service agent, do not buy their BS about holds on your account. They are not upfront about their pricing and charges. Beware!
Fraudulent Company
Go else where.
No customer support.
Fraudulent charges added to rental agreement.
Beware
Beware! This company is a scam!! I booked a car at their Casablanca Airport but they never showed up. They don't have an actual office, so I called them multiple times but they never answered or called me back. I am trying to dispute the charge with my credit card but they are lying and saying I never showed up. Such crooks! Unbelievable!!
Car hire
My flight was delayed and I arrived at the rental office with about 15 mins to spare. The staff really wanted to go home and although I had paid in full said that I should really take out extra insurance cover. As everyone was in a hurry I did, I got No paperwork and when I realised I had already paid in England they would only return a fraction of the amount. When I returned the car again no paper work given. The bond taken took along time to be cleared from my account. Wouldn’t recommend.
Worse car rental experience!
Worse car rental experience of my life. I rented a car from their Miami airport location. Almost took 2 hours to leave with a car. So frustrating. Constantly tried to charge me extra fees even though I have coverage on my credit card and GEICO full coverage auto insurance. Made up some LOSS OF USE charge that I am disputing. Not happy with Routes car rental one bit. No real person, you have to talk through a video call. Not very efficient, AVOID!
This company is the biggest scammer…
This company is the biggest scammer come from a different country scamming people in the USA your Rent-A-Car and they wanna charge you $800 for five days insurance only plus the car rental cost
I had rented a car in a very good…
I had rented a car in a very good condition the staff was so friendly and all was in the right time... I will deal with routes rent a car again
Rude personnel. Hidden fees. Wrongful - criminal advertisement
Rude personnel. Wrongful advertisement. Ridiculous hidden fees. Two weeks after vocation my deposit is still in pending status. I used them only because I was unexperienced traveler. Whatever they advertise through Expedia consider final price would be double or more. Worst and rudest personnel I ever experienced.
Unexpected Out-of-State Fee Not Disclosed Upfront
I recently rented a car from Routes Car Rental (Chicago area) and had a disappointing experience with unexpected charges.
At the time of pickup, I was clearly told that I should not drive the vehicle to Mexico or Canada. However, there was no mention of any restriction or additional fee for traveling outside the state within the U.S.
After returning the vehicle, I was surprised to see an “out-of-state/state crossing fee” added to my bill (around $60+). This was never disclosed during the rental process, and had I known about it, I would have either requested permission or chosen a different rental option.
I reached out to online customer service before posting this review, as advised by their staff. However, the response I received simply referred to their policy without addressing the fact that this was not communicated at pickup.
Transparency at the counter is very important for customers to make informed decisions. Policies that are not clearly explained upfront should not result in unexpected charges later.
I hope Routes Car Rental improves their communication so future customers are not caught off guard like I was.
DO NOT RENT FROM HERE zero stars
DO NOT RENT FROM HERE they will not help you if you flight was canceled , or delayed to the next day , they will not transfer you to a manager , they will not help you at all! they lie saying that the manager is at a meeting, they lie saying they cant transfer you to the main location , they told me i cannot connect you to a manager to file a complaint , that you can only email. if you rent from Priceline or a third party good luck because you lost your money.
Hidden costs
Hidden costs. You are a fool if you expect to pay the amount you booked online. They find smt to charge you.
Never again! Stay away.
Stay away from routes
Stay away from routes
We hired a car for 1 day and end up costing me 180 USD , terms and conditions not clear at all and day insurence cost 100 USd
But other companies charges 50 inclusive of ibsurence and car hire
So way too expensive and never get it from Expedia platform
They didn't except our insurence
Attention
Be careful, be careful. They are scammers. Definitely do not rent a vehicle there. When signing the contract at midnight, after a long flight from Europe, they told us that the payment was a refundable deposit. After returning the car, they denied everything and said that we had arranged additional services on the spot. They did not return the money. Be careful and do not get scammed like we did.
Routes Car Rental engaged in blatant deceptive practices…
Routes Car Rental engaged in blatant deceptive practices. I was explicitly told there would be no other fees beyond the base rental. Days later, I discovered two unauthorized charges: $246.42 and $338.21 for an undisclosed "VIP service" that was never mentioned.
When I disputed this, their automated system claimed nothing could be done. This is unethical upselling and false advertising. Avoid this company—they prey on customers with hidden fees and zero accountability.
Steer clear. 1 star only because 0 isn't an option.
Routes car rental..stay away
So I just flew into Denver April 7th, 2026. Made my reservation for the car rental. Got my notification by email. Followed the instructions on where to meet the van for pickup. They even have a nice app that shows you where the van is. And this is where the problem starts. I watch the van come by once go to the East terminal. I'm over at the West terminal which is where they told me to go wait and where I requested a pickup. And it never came by. It went through the East terminal and went back to the routes car rental location. I booked it again and guess what the same thing happened. Except this time I took screenshots of everything that happened along the way of where the van went. Had to actually rent a Lyft rental in order to get a ride to the car rental place. How stupid is that. When I finally got to the rental place and told the person who was booking my car. What happened they go, Oh that's too bad. Not an apology. No explanation. I said I want to talk to the manager. Supposedly when they went to talk to the Manager, he said the manager is not coming out and said you have to go to the East terminal he said. Then why didn't their emails or their voicemail say anything? Tell me that I need to go to East terminal versus have me stand there for two mother freaking hours. I was beyond pissed. I still am. I don't write reviews. I really don't but this one frustrated me to no end. I want to make sure everybody understands just how poorly they treat the customer. Not an apology. No manager came over to talk to me. They wouldn't reimburse me for my Lyft fees that it cost me to get there. They wouldn't even discount it off the car. That would have been the easiest thing just to make the customer happy. But no. That's just too bad. Next time go to the East terminal. I will never rent from these guys again. And I would highly advise all of my friends and Business associates to not to do that either. Find any other car rental company that actually treats you like a customer and understands basic human decency where oh we could have at least said we're sorry. And to make it up for you. They don't care. So funny rent from these guys. They just want your money and then have you go away. Well guess what now I'm going away and I want to make sure all my friends know as well. You were warned.
We had an extremely frustrating…
We had an extremely frustrating experience. After arriving at the airport, we waited a long time just to be picked up. By the time we finally got to the counter—after standing in line—they told us we were “late” and had cancelled our reservation.
We were not the only ones. At least three other customers in line were told the exact same thing.
No refunds were offered, no solutions were provided, and there was zero accountability from the company.
This feels like a deliberate tactic rather than an isolated issue. Based on our experience, I strongly advise others to avoid this company. Expedia should seriously reconsider listing them, and this business deserves closer scrutiny from regulators.
Absolutely unacceptable. Stay away.
Priceline and Expedia should be ashamed…
Priceline and Expedia should be ashamed of themselves for putting their name/associating themselves with this brand. It’s a bait and switch. They give you a great deal when you book then you get to the rental booth- yes booth with a person on a screen to tell you it’s another $400 because your insurance doesn’t have the correct deductible. It’s a scam and it’s not right.
If there is a zero
If there is a zero, I would give them zero.
It is literally a scam. They get you in and you are thrown with so many hidden fees that are actually ridiculous. I was going to pay much more than any other company.
Not to mention how rude the employees are. You get in the office and not body wants to help you or even wants to look at you.
It is a complete waste of time and effort
