Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 226 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people encountered significant product issues, with windshields cracking or breaking shortly after repair or replacement. Customers also reported damage to other vehicle components during service, such as broken phone chargers, malfunctioning blower motors, or damaged wiper linkages. A common frustration was the inability to reach a human for support, often encountering automated systems or unresponsive contact channels. Reviewers frequently experienced problems with appointments, including technicians not showing up, arriving with incorrect parts, or last-minute changes requiring them to visit a shop. However, some customers also noted positive interactions, particularly with technicians who were described as professional, efficient, and performing excellent work. A few other people also felt that certain staff members were friendly and helpful, successfully resolving scheduling issues or providing good service despite overall contact difficulties.

Extremely disappointing and misleading customer service

I am beyond frustrated with Safelite and how poorly this situation was handled from start to finish.

Safelite replaced my windshield in 2019 or 2020. In May 2025, I noticed a leak during rain on the driver’s side where the windshield meets the headliner. I’m an international student and am only home 1–2 times a year, so this wasn’t something I could immediately address. When I did, Safelite performed a leak test on July 22, 2025 and confirmed the windshield was leaking. They took responsibility and replaced the windshield in early August.

Because the leak went on for some time, it caused damage to my headliner. After confirming the leak, the manager at the St. Augustine location explicitly told me IN PERSON to get an estimate from an auto body shop so Safelite could cover the damage. I did exactly that and handed him the estimate at my windshield replacement appointment. He told me he would submit it to corporate for approval and that I would be contacted with next steps. I was never called.

After weeks of no follow-up, my dad attempted to help while I was back in school overseas. He was bounced between locations, and told to go to Jacksonville because that was the original service location. Due to my dad’s back surgery and recovery, this was delayed, but when I returned home in December, I went to the Jacksonville location myself.

That’s when I was told that the St. Augustine manager now claims he “never said” the headliner would be covered — directly contradicting what he told me and the reason I was instructed to get an estimate in the first place.

The lack of communication, accountability, and consistency is unacceptable. I was given false assurances, ignored, and then effectively gaslit when I tried to resolve the issue. This has been an exhausting and incredibly disappointing experience.

I would strongly caution anyone against trusting Safelite’s word when it comes to follow-through or damage claims.

Broke rear view mirror

Took my vehicle in for windshield replacement. Safelite replaced the windshield but broke my rear view mirror. One crack in the windshield turned into three cracks in the rear view mirror for $300.

DO NOT HIRE SAFELITE

made an appointment between 12 and 5:00PM paid upfront. They assigned me a technician and a calibration expert to come to my house and install a new windshield. Nobody showed up so I called at 4:55. PM. and I was told I was taken off the schedule because the calibration needed to happen in a dealership. They never even bothered to call or tell me this. Just let me sit here and wait. HORRIBLE SERVICE OR SHOULD I SAY LACK THEREOFF

Really poor experience with Safelight

Really poor experience with Safelight. First appointment, they just blew me off and no-showed. Took four hours off work to wait for them, they didnt seem to care. Second appointment, again waited fours hours for them and took off work, and they were an hour late from their prescribed window. I had a small rock chip on my window that wasn't all that big but showed tendency to want to crack if left unattended. The so-called technician started off with saying he can't guaranty it wont crack when he tries to fill the chip, and sure enough, he must have known when he proceeded to use a tool that put a lot of unnecessary impact on the chip and further cracked to about 5 times its initial size. He filled it leaving a large crack on both sides of the original rock chip outside the fill that will definitely crack further now.
I've seen a fair amount of rock chip repairs and this new person clearly screwed it up badly, made it far worse and pawned it off with their mantra that they can't guarantee their work. The only thing they do actually guarantee is that they won't be responsible for their own negligence. That was confirmed when I spoke to the supervisor and received rudeness and cited the same non-guaranty; then proceeded to now want to replace my entire window, which I would now be on the hook for the $500 deductible because of their poor workmanship. I declined; why would I want someone so negligent to screw up an even bigger job and cost me even more... Bottom line is that I understand when people mess things up from time to time, but they should own their mistakes and at least try to mitigate them instead of dismissing them, make excuses and say "sorry, we can't guarantee our work. I'm a pilot, I have to guaranty mine...
I will never ever use Safelight and will ensure everyone I know at least knows my story before they use Safelight.

We're sorry to hear that the repair attempt did not meet your expectations. The repair process is only an attempt to save the integrity of the glass, at times the repair may still be visible depending on the size (width and depth) of the chip. If at any time the repair spreads and or you are unhappy with the repair; that amount will be credited toward the full replacement of your windshield. We hope this information was helpful, and we appreciate your understanding. Thank you.

Low Quality Work. Cannot Call Local Branch

Safellite used to be a great company but in my last dealing with them the the windshield they replaced leaked and made a whistling noise when driving and I tried to call the local branch but it routes you to the corporate office which is super annoying.

Lies, cancellations and poor service

I am a business in the automotive industry. Safelite quoted me a price for a windshield replacement. They then showed up for a 1st attempt to install (took the car halfway apart too and left it that way) with another price. Claimed the difference was a KS mandated tax. I checked, it was a lie.

I called to complain (on the afternoon of the re-schedule). Literally 5 minutes later the installer called to say he would not be coming and that he damaged my glass during his day. Offered no solution. I was supposed to leave with that vehicle for a week long vacation with my family two days later. Now I am shafted.

I don't even believe they are telling me the truth about the damaged glass. I asked the guy to send me a pic. I haven't seen it.

Very unsatisfied. Not a lot of companies seem to give a crap about truth and good service it seems. And definitely not Safelite in this situation.

I wish I could give them less

I wish I could give them less. This business is an absolute joke. When you want to get a replacement done with insurance you have to use one of their shops. If you ellect another location to have it done you get to see just how cheap the glass they put on your car is becuase you are out even more money in addition to your deductable. They dont recalibrate like they say they do becuase in less that 3 week my child watched the windshield crack infront of her just sitting at a red light. Took it in to have them replace again and they said they couldnt because the car is throwing a code. That tells me they did not calibrate the car correctly or at all when they replaced the glass 3 weeks ago. They wont cover it as warranty becuase they claimed there was a chip. So I said screw that and scheduled with a dealership for better service and product. However, when I take it to a reputable dealership to have it replaced I get to pay the deductable plus more money out of pocket becuase my insurance route to safelite. Insurance companies NEED to cut ties with this business who is putting poor after-market glass in when the car I have is less than 9months old. Do better Safelite and Insurance companies save yourself the headache of dealing with crappy installations with crap product.

It was not a chip in the glass... more the installation of the replaced glass. I wish I could add pictures so you safelite folks watching these posts can see what a terrible job your staff is doing. I WILL SAY IT AGAIN... DO BETTER SAFELITE. YOUR EXCUSES WILL NOT HELP YOUR REPUTATION.

Safelite Refuses Legitimate Work

Scheduled to have the windshield replaced in my truck. When the tech showed up he saw I had already removed the upper shield around the windshield. Took a picture and sent it to his manager. Apparently was informed not to do the job as it represented too much "risk" for Safelite. There was absolutely no rust evident anywhere near the windshield. In fact. had recently had the cab of the truck painted without problems. Safelite clearly has no interest whatsoever in actual customer support based on this experience. They want simple and easy. Anything that looks to be beyond that minimum they refuse the job.

I scheduled an at home appointment

I scheduled an at home appointment. It was scheduled between 8 AM and noon. I received an auto text at 8:30 stating due to weather they would not be showing up. I called the office and was told the only thing I could do is bring it to the nearest location, which is 50 miles away from me. I had already taken the time off work and was not going to take another day off. Apparently they’re OK with you driving in bad weather to get to them, but not them driving in it to get to you. When you go on Safelite’s website to leave a review, there are no links to leave a review until AFTER you have paid for their service. Which explains why they have such a high rating.

I was going to buy new wiper blades for…

In response to Safelites 3rd Response. Safelite, are you saying you don't offer various levels of blades and different brands of blades as an offer then? If you do offer different levels and brands, I would like to see my original offer as my scanned documents don't show any other offers. Also, this is the quote you show as options for blades when setting up the online quote: Protect your investment
Our Advanced Beam Blades protect your windshield and come with a six-month guarantee.
Includes six-month guarantee
Superior all-weather performance
Streak-free and silent wipe
Free installation at time of service
At the minimum, I believe I qualify for a guarantee replacement since the blades streak. Please advise, thank you...In response to Safelites 2nd response. If you offer and I was assumingly aware of it, which level of wiper blades did I end up with at $35.00 a pop? Once again, I did not have this discussion that I recall. In response to Safelite response. I know what the price was prior to service, my point is I wasn't given the chance to select other wiperblade brands. I don't think the Safelite blades installed are very good if I'm looking to replace them after 6 months.
Original Review:I was going to buy new wiper blades for my Bronco Sport because they leave streaks when I realized that I had Safelite put new blades on less than 6 months ago for $35.00 each. I read that they give you options of different brands but I don't recall having that discussion with them, only did I want new blades.

Showed up 2 hours early with 5 minute notice

The gentleman who came to fix the glass did a very poor job as the crack/chip looked worse after he 'fixed' it. 2 months later while sitting in the garage, it cracked fairly badly. I made an appointment to have it fixed with the window being 1pm-6pm. I get a phone call at 10:30am stating the tech was 5 mins out. (this was after he already called me at 8:30am confirming our window) I told him I wasn't home but could be there in half an hour. He called his office and they told him to tell me I would have to reschedule. Not acceptable. If you provide a window to your customer, then you need to adhere to that window. There was no apology or even attempt to come back during my window as I was just expected to sit around and wait all day in the event the tech was early. I didn't reschedule and went with Caliber Collision as they were very professional and I got to speak with someone that spoke English.

Mobile repair was great - Pricing transparency was not

I really liked that they were able to come to my home to repair my windshield but besides that it was a strange encounter. The man called me before coming and wanted to let me know the price of the windshield wipers, which I was previously told they would be $40. When he spoke to me he told me it was $40 per windshield making it $80 in total for WINDSHIELD WIPERS! When I said I would pass on them as I was previously told they were $40, he seemed annoyed. He said the call center keeps making this mistake and offered me a deal for $75 with a rain repellent. I don't know if they do this on purpose to think you are getting a good deal but clearly are not. Afterwards, I checked online to see if they make commission by selling the add ons and they do..., which is fine, but the whole time he was working on my car, you could tell he was frustrated and I felt uncomfortable. The prices are outrageous for the add ons and there needs to be better communication on pricing.

An Absolute Nightmare!!

My experience with Safelite of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma has been an absolute nightmare!! Their staff is the most incompetent group of people I have encountered in YEARS. I fully expect my new windshield to implode and it will certainly need to be reinstalled. I’ve had “4” appointments with Safelite and they STILL do not have the correct upper molding on my vehicle. They tried to force the wrong molding above my windshield making it twisted and bulging. I’ve taken time off from work on 2 occasions and have wasted 2 Saturdays sitting in their lobby. I’ve made 6 phone calls to their corporate office but still do not have a resolution. I will now need to drive 1 hour each way to Bartlesville next Saturday and pray that location is trained and knows what they are doing. Safelite is the most unprofessional, incompetent and dishonest company I have run across in a long time. Not only do they not know what they are doing when it comes to installing a windshield but they have straight out lied to me on 2 occasions. I called to make sure the correct part was in fact there before I drove to Broken Arrow…again. They assured me the molding had come in on an early morning truck, which was not true. The last employee I spoke with (Thomas) was incredibly defensive and rude. As I was trying to get back home (after they called last minute to tell me they couldn’t find the part), I was turning off my house alarm and yelling at my dog (who thought I was a burglar!) this Thomas person hung up on me. So incredibly rude!! I would definitely NOT recommend taking your vehicle to Safelite even if your insurance company works with them. You will surely regret it!! 👎

Process smooth as glass

This regards the Safelite in Pueblo, Colorado. I am very pleased with how it all went. I was able to get an appointment the next day at a time convenient for me for the rear glass in an F150. They began work immediately upon arrival and completed it quickly and properly and they cleaned out the broken glass from all the small, tight spaces. I have absolutely nothing to complain about.

Two weeks ago I got a chip in my…

Two weeks ago I got a chip in my windshield and went through my insurance (GEICO) since the repair had no deductible. GEICO referred me to Safelite. When I arrived, the technician told me the chip repair would “always leave residue” and strongly pushed me toward a full replacement. I specifically asked if the replacement would be the same as my OEM GMC windshield, and he assured me it was the same green-tint OEM equivalent. Based on that, I agreed.
I followed every instruction they gave me: no car wash and no freeway driving for two full weeks.
The first time I washed my truck—two weeks later—the entire lower rubber molding came off. On top of that, I could hear air and wind noise coming from the corners of the windshield. Clearly the installation was not done correctly.
I contacted GEICO, who then contacted Safelite. Safelite refused responsibility for the damaged molding, calling it “wear and tear,” even though it was perfectly fine before their replacement. Their only offer was to “reseal” the windshield. So now I’m stuck with:
A non-OEM, inferior windshield
Poor installation that caused noise and air leaks
Loose/damaged molding that Safelite denies responsibility for
A truck that was in better shape before I walked through their doors
This is unacceptable craftsmanship and even worse customer service. I trusted Safelite because of my insurance referral, and that was a mistake. Going forward, I will absolutely warn others about my experience.

Thank you for your input. The cowl isn't covered replaced during a windshield replacement or covered by the warranty. You may contact your insurance carrier for parts outside of the glass installation.
