Sancy was wonderful
Sancy was wonderful, so kind, understanding and I feel very confident of her professional capabilities.
Thoroughness, kindness, and confidence.
I went to see Dr Sancy about a possible minor problem with my left eye. She was so welcoming and kind, I immediately felt confident that I was in the best hands. As things turned out I did not need surgery just some eye drops, but while I was there Dr Sancy gave me a thorough eye examination, and took a detailed medical history. I did not need to schedule a second appointment, but I shall not hesitate to go and see Dr Sancy if I have any future problems with my eyes.

Excellent surgery results
I had cataract surgery with Dr Sancy Low on both of my eyes at the age of 41. The two surgeries were performed without any complications despite the higher chance of retinal detachment at this age.
The pre and post surgery care was excellent, she clearly explained my options and I received very fast responses from her to queries which immensely helped with managing the anxiety leading up to the surgery and also with alleviating side effects post surgery. At the same time as treating the cataract, Dr Low also corrected my vision. Regarding my post surgery vision based on initial measurements/calculations she offered me different options to choose from depending on my life style preferences (driving, sport activities, reading etc). Dr Low took extra care with pre surgery measurements to ensure the natural variation in eye parameters don't jeopardise the outcome of the surgery. In spite of the high variation observed in vision recovery she achieved a 100% match between the pre-calculated values and the actual vision and at the end of the healing process my vision ended up 3 grades better than expected. In addition, the corrected vision has eliminated my migraines. Behind all this success stands the amazing care she provides.
I'd highly recommend Dr Low. She is highly professional, genuinely kind and a real perfectionist when it comes to vision.

Dr Sancy Low was able to see me at short notice and when she met with me it was with absolute professionalism and accuracy. She was able to ease my anxiety about a recent sudden concern and made me feel at ease with her kindness. I look forward to my follow-up soon in her lovely office.
Appointment feedback
I found the treatment I have recently received from the eye department from your hospital wonderful. They were so professional and correct, it’s a refreshing change from much of the health care I’ve had recently.
Magic at her hands.
Every step of my visit was lined up with trust in Dr.Sancy's approach using all cognitive functions in a comprehensive explanation of my wet macular degeneration, rather extended cataract and a grate psychological support for surgery to preserve the deteriorating sight. Dr. Low is blessed with an individual vision for the need and the benefit of each patient.
Professional, Reassuring and very Welcoming
Sancy made me feel extremely welcome from the first minute. One of the best initial consultations I've ever had. Sancy was friendly, extremely knowledgable and reassuring.
Dr Sancy Low is professional, charming kind and passionate about her work
Before being referred to St Thomas’s I had my first cateract done privately, an experience I found deeply unpleasant. Surgeon and staff lovely I think it was me just fearing I would cough and the unusual experience
I discovered that the NHS waitlist was no so bad and with my optometrist picked St Thomas’s as in the past I have had blended laser surgery on both eyes to enable me to see without glasses, I knew St Thomas’s also did the same laser surgery (privately) so figured someone there would be familiar with it.
I am so happy I did! After the usual tests I was passed onto Dr Sancy Low who spent a long time doing calculations and checking and re checking tests to come up with the correct lens. Dr Low explained everything, she is charming, professional and friendly and passionate about what she does.
On the day of surgery she put me at ease and talked through everything she was doing, I had 2 stress balls with me but didn’t need them as she continually reminded me to breathe in for 2 and out for 5.
The surgery waiting area is bright and calm with wonderful views of the Thames and the London Eye.
Just had one week check and my sight is pretty much back to how it was after blended laser surgery 11 years ago, after one week!
Thank you NHS, St Thomas’s hospital and especially Dr Sancy Low!
Highly recommend Dr. Low
After having had a recent, very negative, experience with another consultant, my assessment with Dr. Low could not have been more positive. I found her to be extremely kind and compassionate, warm, honest and professional. She took the time to explain everything in detail, setting out my options at every stage having listened to my concerns, answering every question thoroughly. I can’t recommend her highly enough. Do not hesitate to see her.
A great eye doctor
Dr Low was very kind and knowledgeable. The appointment was detailed and I felt reassured.

Her exceptional expertise and passion for what she does is obvious and is matched only by her genuine interest, care and empathy. Sancy is clearly someone you can trust and you simply just know that you are in the hands of a truly remarkable professional who will guide you through your medical journey step by step with calm and pragmatic approach.
Beyond my expectations
This is a fairly detailed review, because my experience was so good.
After 40+ years of virtually perfect vision, I began to struggle with my reading and long distance and was subsequently offered varifocal lenses and contacts. Although this made a significant difference it always frustrated me that I had to rely on glasses or contacts each and every day. I had lenses for work and lenses for socializing. Without the use of contacts or glasses I couldn’t function at home, work or outdoors. Over the years, I had considered surgery, but I was hesitant about any surgical procedure. My optician eventually persuaded me to consider using an ophthalmic surgeon who had treated her family member, which to me was a very reassuring recommendation.
Within 2 days of the referral, I received a message from Dr Sancy Low (Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon) who offered to see me at St Thomas’ Hospital Eye Clinic for an initial consultation. It just so happens that I too work at St Thomas’ Hospital, so it was even more reassuring. At the appointment I was taken through several eye tests, of which the results were forwarded to Dr Low who then, via video link, discussed the findings and options with me in great detail.
After being deemed a suitable candidate for Presbyond laser blended vision treatment, I was booked to attend the David Gartry Wimple Eye Clinic in central London. I met Dr Low in person and went through further intense assessments before it was agreed that surgery would take place in 2 weeks. By this stage, three separate ophthalmologists had been able to confirm that my vision could be successfully improved with this procedure.
On the day of my surgery, I attended My-iClinic in north London where I was again taken through more assessments, given detailed information about the procedure and taken through the steps needed for the after care. The procedure was not uncomfortable or painful and lasted approximately 30 mins. To be quite honest, I would have fallen asleep if I could (it was that relaxing), but that wasn’t an option. Dr Low and the team, talked me through each step so I knew exactly what was happening. They frequently asked me if I was comfortable throughout the duration of the procedure.
Post-surgery, the effects were immediate. Prior to my surgery, I was unable to read my identification wrist band that was given to me, such that I had to check that the details were correct with my glasses. Within 2 minutes of coming out of surgery, my initial vision could only be described as hazy/cloudy, but even with this, I could read the posters in the recovery room and my wrist band, without any effort. Ten minutes later, Dr Low assessed my eyes and ensured I was fit to go home. I was given 4 sets of eye drops (anti- inflammatory, antibiotic, lubricant and anaesthetic eye drops), to be taken between 2-4 hours in the first few days and then less often over the following week to 2 weeks.
After an hour of the surgery I had slight discomfort in my eyes, but once the anaesthetic drops were given, the discomfort was immediately alleviated. I spent the first day taking it very easy and avoided tv, bright lights and using my phone. The following day I was booked to see Dr Low at the Wimple Eye Clinic, where she again examined my eyes and assessed my vision. I was strict with using my eye drops as instructed, to achieve the best recovery and avoid the risk of infection. For the first week my eyes felt drier than normal, but using the lubricant made a huge difference and now I only need them when I am around air conditioning units for a long period of time.
The results have been dramatic and beyond anything I could have expected. Even now, 2 weeks on from my surgery, I still go around thinking I have my contact lenses in.
The treatment I received from the moment I made contact with Dr Low and up until today has been first class. I had numerous emails, text messages and calls to ensure I was informed, comfortable and confident about the procedure and the team; everything was arranged around my convenience. I have another follow up assessment in the next few days and I believe in 3 months’ time.
Dr Low is simply a lovely, compassionate and caring person. You are treated with the utmost respect and always made to feel at ease. I think she’s the nicest medical practitioner that I have ever encountered.
There hasn’t been a day since my surgery, that I haven’t recommended friends or colleagues to consider the procedure for themselves. My only regret is that I didn’t consider it sooner, as it has literally been life changing.
Cataract Surgery at St Thomas Hospital
I have had both eyes treated for cataracts at St Thomas Hospital. The treatment I have received has been excellent. Initially I was extremely anxious but the kindness and professionalism of the surgeons and nursing staff alleviated my anxiety at every stage. It is very difficult to imagine exactly what will happen during the procedure but it all went very smoothly and was completely pain free. The outcome has been excellent and I would recommend Ms Low’s team to anyone who may be hesitant. Thank you so much. Lynn Key

I had a great experience during my recent visit to the ophthalmologist at the Saint Thomas hospital. The staff was friendly and professional, and the doctor was very knowledgeable and thorough in their examination

Dr Low did both eyes for my 87 year old father. She was clear & concise. & answered my texts when I had an medication querys. She was wonderful and we felt at ease in her care. Brilliant at her job.
Great Experience
Dr Sancy Low is a wonderful Dr. Before seeing her, I had seen many other ophthalmologists and was quite anxious about my eye problems. As soon I had had my first appointment with Dr Sancy I felt at ease. She is patient and understanding and is very thorough in her examinations. She takes the time to explain everything in detail in non technical terms so I can really understand and never rushes the appointment.. In addition to the care I received, Dr. Sancy diagnosed my daughter with a condition that no other Paediatric Opthamologist could see. From March to June we took my daughter to see 5 different eye drs and Sancy diagnosed her just by listening to the background. After months of extreme pain our daughter is now on the road to recovery. Thank you for everything.
Amazing Treatment
I would like to say what amazing treatment I have had under the care of Ms Sancy Low, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, STH. I was extremely anxious when attending my appointment but was helped to feel at ease very quickly. My treatment was explained thoroughly and the laser treatment I had to have, for glaucoma, carried out very professionally. Ms Low is not only very professional but also very kind, a winning combination for people, like me, who don't like having their eyes touched! I have to go back for treatment on the other eye and now feel very confident as opposed to extremely anxious! Thank you, Ms Low, see you again soon.
Dr S Low is a very talented Eye…
Dr S Low is a very talented Eye Consultant not only that she is also a very good human being ,she is kind and compassionate, she listened to my concerns and acted upon them unlike other specialists I had seen before at Moorfields dept in St George's hospital who just dismissed me as if I was bothering them.
I am very grateful to my GP who enabled me to get an oppointment with Dr Low at St Thomas's hospital.
I hope my review will help someone getting the care we all deserve.
Dr Sancy Low is one of the best doctors…
Dr Sancy Low is one of the best doctors I have come across and can't express how impactful and compassionate she has been. I was referred to her at the Eye department @ St Thomas's after other doctors suspected I had visual snow. She was very thorough in the examinations to rule out other potential causes and explained the process very clearly. Her caring and optimism significantly lowered my anxiety throughout the session and has done more for my condition than anything myself or other doctors have done.
Thank you!
Jonathan
