I would like to say what a wonderful experience I had being treated by Ms Sancy Low - Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at St Thomas's Eye Dept on Monday. I immediately felt at ease as she explained the reason for my referral. Her personable, warm and professional nature shone throughout my examination and subsequent treatment and I left her department feeling a little sore but so thankful to be treated by such a highly skilled and empathetic individual. Thank you once again Ms Low.

I should like to add my voice to others who have expressed their gratitude to Dr. Sancy Low, consultant ophthalmologist at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ London, who is an exceptional eye surgeon in every way. I had postponed cataract surgery until the glare of sunlight and headlights made driving very difficult. Since my husband is severely partially sighted, I was an extremely anxious patient, worried that something might go wrong with my surgery which would leave us both disabled. I also have high eye pressure which I saw as an added risk. From our first meeting, Sancy’s patience, generosity, optimism and gentle determination persuaded me that I was in excellent hands and I had no hesitation in going ahead with cataract surgery in both eyes. At the operation itself, she allayed my anxiety by showing me how to practise deep breathing which I have continued regularly for relaxation since. She also calmly explained each part of the procedure as she reached it, reassuringly letting me know how much longer it would last as well as telling me that it was going well. She has always responded immediately to all my questions and fears and has remained patient, kind and cheerful throughout. She has also gone out of her way to accommodate my uncertainty as to the type of lenses I would like. I cannot express enough my gratitude to her for my restored vision and new view of the world. I wish her every success in her future career.

My husband was referred to St Thomas’s because of cataracts in both eyes. He was lucky enough to be under the care of Dr. Low. Both eyes were treated and he now has 20/20 vision. He also had a problem with the retina in his left eye and Dr Low has treated this without having to resort to surgery. Not only is she exceptionally good at her job but she is also a very kind person. She was never too busy to explain fully what the treatment would entail and to answer any questions we had.

Dr. Sancy Low is an exceptional Ophthalmologist. Her dedication to her patients, her knowledge and experience are amazing. I have on several occasions had video consultations with her, due to the fact I am in Asia and have Glaucoma. She has always contacted me, when so requested and after our Video Consultation, followed up to ensure that I fully understood her advice.
I heartily recommend her to any person that is in need of a Doctor, who has an incredible understanding of Eyes and their associated problems, and who is willing to fully explain, in Layman’s language, the condition and necessary steps needed to alleviate the condition.

I am sooooo happy with my new eyesight thanks to the expertise of Mrs Sancy Low, I have had both cataracts done, one of which was very complex. I felt that I was so lucky to have had my surgery at St Thomas by such a great surgeon and her team, They put me at ease and Mrs Low talked me through the procedure which was completely pain free. I am now reading books and back driving again, how lucky am I .

I am an optometrist working in private practice.I was fortunate enough to meet Ms.Low to discuss my cataract surgery 6 months ago.
She was meticulous and her attention to detail pre- surgery was impressive.On the day of my surgery she was reassuring and friendly before my operation which really put me at ease.
My surgery went well and I now enjoy better than 6/6 vision without spectacles.

I've been fortunate enough to have Ms Low as my eye surgeon for both of my cataract surgeries, the first in 2018 and second recently. As a very young patient for cataract surgery (early 30s), I was naturally quite nervous. Despite being a busy consultant, Ms Low took the time to explain about the procedure, risks, benefits and understand my concerns and questions, which was really reassuring. I also have somewhat complex eyes, meaning this was not quite the simple surgery it is for many others. For the second surgery I was originally auto-referred by Specsavers/my GP to a private provider doing NHS work, but I am so glad I was able to transfer my referral back to Ms Low's care, where I did not feel like I was on a conveyor belt and I was actually able to meet my surgeon ahead of surgery. That was the best decision I've made about my care and I am sure that my outcome would not have been as good if I had not. The team at St Thomas' and Ms Low in particular were professional, caring and went the extra mile to make sure I received the care I needed and got the best possible outcome. Ms Low has that rare combination of expertise and skill along with a fantastic 'bedside manner'. My second eye is now healing well, and all being well, I look forward to many decades of excellent eye health in the future.

One week ago I had an appointment with Dr Low in St. Thomas Hospital concerning the cataract surgery.
During the very professional and friendly examination I received from Dr Low all information related to the surgery procedure.

How lucky I am! My eyesight has been transformed! Dr Low has performed cataract surgery at St Thomas' on both my eyes over the past four months. I couldn't believe how untraumatic the whole thing was! The atmosphere in the theatre was calm and reassuring, and Dr Low told me exactly what she was doing throughout. She couldn't have been friendlier, and her team were all brilliant too. Thank you so much.

Following a detached retina and subsequent corrective surgery I was referred to Dr Low due to my increased eye pressure. Sancy has been looking after my eye care for 9 months. Being told I needed immediate surgery to relieve high eye pressure was alarming but Dr Low was clear, reassuring and took time to understand my particular concerns. The surgery she performed was a huge success eliminating the need for me to have eye drops. Recently she has gone out of her way to contact me at home when a routine scan threw up a few questions regarding my eye health. I was added to her next clinic at a time that suited me. She explained the concerns, what she saw whilst looking at my eyes and then showed me all the scans and videos of my eye. She was extremely thorough. Although I was added to the end of her long clinic she took the time to reassure me that my eyes were doing well and remind me what the options were for the future. If you are lucky enough to have an appointment with Dr Low I know you will be treated in exactly the same way.

I received Excellent treatment from Mrs Sancy Lowe. As a very anxious person I was hesitant about having the operation, but Mrs Lowe convinced me that I didn't need sedation, with a warm blanket, music, hand holding and our mutal love of tennis, it would be fine. It was and I sailed through the operation! Thank you Mrs Low, I won't hesitate to recommend you to all my friends!

I was referred to Sancy Low after retinal detachment surgery as I needed a cataract operation. She has an incredibly calm manner and is very confident and clear with all explanations of planned procedures and possible outcomes.
I am happy to continue under her care until my eyesight is fully restored.

I found Mrs Low to be a very professional and caring person. Her warm personality put me at ease for my eye operation. She explained exactly what would happen in a very a straight forward way which was easy to understand. I attended my first eye operation somewhat anxious but Mrs. Low's calm assuring manner soon put me at my ease. I attended my second eye operation in a very much more confident and relaxed manner. I hope that I will not have to have any eye operations again in the future, but if I do, then Mrs. Low would be the person I would go to.
