Had a problem with some boots outside of the warranty, Scarpa collected FOC acknowledged the problem and rectified it to beyond my satisfaction. I think you can best judge a company when things go wrong, and I can't fault them. Great boots and Great company. Jack was a lovely chap who called me and sorted it all out.

A bit disappointed to discover that the Ranger boots I just received from an approved retailer are 2 piece rather than one piece like my SL boots. Scarpa don't show a photo of the inner side. However, they are very good quality, and I suspect that most of the bad reviews here are for scarpashoesuk.com, which is a scam website.

I bought a pair of Scarpa Rush Trek GTX in July for a trek I was leading to Everest Base Camp in November.

Within 2 days of wearing the boots there was a load creaking noise coming from the left boot, which was amusing to the group for a few hours but then annoying.

A few days later the heel started to become detached from the boot! I was trekking in the Himalayas so could not return them and they were the only boots I had with me.

As a mountain Leader and outdoor instructor I frequently get asked about which is the best kit. Scarpa quality is absolute rubbish and I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Such a shame as I always used to be impressed with Scarpa boots.

Ordered a pair of climbing shoes. Wore them once for a short climbing session to see if they fit. After shipping the shoes back Scarpa says they show signs of wear and cannot be returned. This company has a poor return policy. They won't let you try the shoes on to see if they fit. Buy from REI or another seller if you want a reasonable return policy.

After half a lifetime using and recommending Scarpa boots, I will now be taking my business elsewhere. I quote: “…with little use the midsole has become brittle and has decayed to the point the sole is more or less fully detached from the boot. Unfortunately, this is not a manufacturing fault and is not covered by any warranty.”
Be warned. If you don’t use them often enough, you will pay for their poor design choice in materials that deteriorate, no matter how carefully they are stored. Disappointing. I expected better.

Absolutely rubbish Scarpa SL £240 !!! My first pair lasted 10 years of constant abuse in the mountains, the new SL lasted four weeks before the cambarell lining on both heels wore away to the leather , also there’s a ridiculous cushioned thing inside the heel of the sole which lady’s six months and collapses , resulting in scarpa “ just wanting “ £150 to re sole your six month old boots with the same sole unit that failed in six months !!! Why is all modern equipment designed to fail now ?

Spent over £160 on a pair of boots they started leaking after 3 years so sent them back and they have told me my toe has worn the lining which is totally rubbish. Would not recommend anyone to buy Scarpa again

I have had a pair of Scarpa Terra boots for just over a year.They cost around £150 and when the sole started to come away I sent them away so they could be stuck.I have just been told the sole is crumbling inside! Not happy AT ALL

Very positive experiences of Scarpa, my most recent being on a hike in the pyrenees about a week ago.
I have 3 pairs of Scarpa shoes, having bought others in the past, and typically find their products to be well made. A "quality" product doesn't mean everlasting and the price will be high. However, the materials used were top notch, the grip is class leading and the comfort is high for what they are. Stiffer hiking and mountaineering boots are never going to be like "walking on clouds" but these are performance products designed for specific outdoor use scenarios. If you want a very soft shoe or have wider /higher volume than average feet than Scarpa might not be for you. Some of their shoes fit wider than others (Vortex is a wider shoe) so you really need to get them fitted. None of the products I've worn were designed to "kill your feet" but one was too narrow for me and I returned for a different shoe.
Most of their shoes are designed for demanding outdoor activities such as trails, climbing, multi-season hill walking and alpine assents. The design choices make them unsuitable for urban use, but Scarpa have urban shoes designed for that purpose.
The only premature wear I've noticed are the insoles. Scarpa UK thankfully sent me out free insoles when the ones in my shoes wore out. They also sent a more cushioned set of insoles to me in response to an email, and those worked very well on my recent Mountain hike. This is a good brand, despite the reviews here.

Scarpa delta gtx. I bought these for use at work in my job as a gardner. I need a comfortable waterproof leather gortex ankle supporting boot.

The plus points are a excellent comfortable fit from straight out the box, sole is not too hard and good grip.

Negatives are that they have only lasted 18 months, stitching has fallen apart and side of sole started to disintegrate. Footbeds wore through and needed replacing less than 12 months in.

For me not a boot I will buy again and i am now trying another brand.

Very poor quality. Never make the mistake of buying a boot from Go Outdoors, secondly, never make the mistake of buying any Scarpa walking boots. Poor quality. Got mine returned twice and still a problem. I only bought it earlier this year and its been terrible. Now having to throw away them. £150 down the drain. Avoid

I have a recently new pair of Boreas GTX boots. I have had them for around 6 / 8 weeks and are now nicely broken in. However I did my first really wet walk this weekend and around 2 miles into an 11 mile walk in the North Pennines my feet were wet. When I took my boots off at the end they were sodden. I thought I had perhaps done something wrong but reading these reviews they are going back today and hopefully exchange for a more waterproof boot. I'm quite sad as I love the boots, but I walk all year round and I can't see these coping with winter on the fells.

I bought a pair of Scarpa Vortex GTX 18 months ago for £150. After 18 months and only light wear, they are now unusable as the linings have holes in the heel sections that cause my feet to blister worse than I have ever had with a pair of shoes before. This isn't acceptable for a pair of shoes of this price and supposed quality.
I contacted Scarpa under the guarantee and the shoes were picked up within a week. They were inspected and I was then told that the warranty was 'voided' because of movement of my foot in the shoe i.e. use of the shoe voids the warranty. However, they offered to carry out a repair free of charge. With some increased chasing on my part, I finally got my shoes back seven weeks later with the heel sections repaired. After one four mile walk, my heels were blistered worse than ever on both sides and when I inspected the 'repair', found that it was simply a patch that had been put over the holes, which were still clearly touchable through the patch and therefore were clearly going to cause the same issues as before.
As a previous happy owner of Scarpa shoes, and with Scarpa's denial of any quality issues with my shoes, the only conclusion is that the quality of Scarpa shoes has significantly deteriorated. This, combined with a (ridiculous) seven week turnaround to 'repair' my shoes in a way that has left them unusable still, has resulted in me moving back to Lowas, which seem to be of far superior quality.
I was offered a significant discount on a new pair of Scarpas during the course of the seven week wait, but didn't want to take Scarpa up on this as I fear I would just get another (albeit slightly less) expensive pair of Vortex GTXs that would still only last 18 months as Scarpa had confirmed there were no quality issues with mine from their perspective.
I'm really sad to have to write this, and whilst the customer service team has been polite and courteous throughout, it doesn't change the fact that I have an expensive pair of unusable shoes with a free 'repair' that didn't actually repair the shoes.
Extremely disappointed.

Edit: I followed up with Scarpa re: the quality of the repair and the fact that the shoes were no better than before and was immediately offered a replacement pair. I remain to-be-convinced that Scarpa hasn't declined in quality, but I do have a pair of new Vortex GTXs, so at least I will now be able to find out. And whilst the customer service has not been rapid, it has been courteous and ultimately did pleasantly surprise me with the offer of a replacement pair. Hence, stars updated to reflect this.

Further edit: After a year with the replacement shoes, they seem to be better quality than the original pair and have lasted well. Not sure what was wrong with my first pair, but this replacement pair is definitely more durable and the service I did eventually get means that I'm changing to four stars to reflect the fact that I would now consider buying Scarpa again.

Poor quality, scarpa vsr started to peel off after two weeks, after a month the Velcro clasp broke

I was, initially really pleased with these walking boots, comfortable from day one. However the stitching has split after only 600 miles so they are no longer watertight. Have contacted customer care but no response yet.

I bought the Rush Trail GTX WMN for £165.
Despite wearing these boots frequently to see if I can ‘wear them in’, they are not getting any more comfortable. They are so hard underfoot and feel like blocks on my feet. They have brought back my plantar faciitis.

For a shoe sold with the description - "It is a walking shoe made in the name of comfort with technologies able to help reduce foot fatigue during the hiking, a combination between agility and protection." - which I obviously took a lot of notice of, it feels like the opposite of all it claims to be.. my feet feel fatigued after wearing them for 30 minutes. It is just really disappointing as they are an expensive purchase and I took a long time deliberating on which walking shoes to go for.

I tried contacting the company twice for feedback/information but no response at all. I would not recommend the boot or the company.

Bought a pair of Ladies' Cyrus GTX nubuck walking shoes in size 41( I already have Scarpa Terra walking boots in men's 42 so trusted this brand). Shoes felt like a glove in the shop, but after 3-4 hours walking the right shoe collar was rubbing against my outer ankle causing abrasion, soreness and a blister. Not a problem with left foot. Advising others as problem would not have been immediately apparent when trying-on. The collar material is very stiff and abrasive, and hits my bony ankle in just the wrong places.
Any suggestions for correcting this welcome, or purchase will turn out to have been an expensive mistake.

Scarpa customer service is outstanding.

I returned a pair of Cyrus Mid GTX as the stitching was coming away. I was sent a return lable and informed the boots would be inspected.

I received a detailed report of this inspection and was informed I could receive a replacement boot.

Dave and Jamie went above and beyond to help me choose the correct boot.

Thank you so much, I am now the proud owner of the most comfortable walking boots.

Just experienced Scarpa customer care which I rate as outstanding! I had a pair of walking boots which I loved but the heals started disintegrating,I contacted Scarpa who sent me a return label and asked me to send the boots for inspection. Despite my boots being 3 years old Scarpa have replaced them with a brand new pair of boots, a different type as mine aren’t manufactured anymore but even more comfortable than the originals. Would highly recommend this company!

I'm a postman, I know a thing or two about walking and boots. Wanted to get another waterproof pair of shoes and the reviews on Terra GTX 2 were good. However soon after wearing these I started to get pain in my toes and eventually corns on the inside which I'd never had at any point in the past. As my boots had been fitted by GoOutdoors I assumed the fit to be correct so maybe there was a fault. So I sent them back to Scarpa, they said there's nothing wrong with them. Having spoke to colleagues they all said why did you buy Scarpa, they are so tight you will kill your feet and they'll fall apart. They were obviously correct. The biggest waste of £165 I have ever spent. Never again, there are much better quality boots with less problems for lower price. My feet and toes have been great since I switched.
