Absolutely terrible experience renewing…

Absolutely terrible experience renewing a code signing certificate with Sectigo.

I confirmed multiple times with sales (Order #2471352397) that I was renewing my existing software/code signing certificate, not moving to a hardware token. Despite this, Sectigo issued a hardware-based cert that completely breaks our workflow. Support now says I have to start over from scratch and go through full company validation again — something we already completed for the original cert (Order #1227908261).

Their sales and support channels are disjointed, unresponsive, and impossible to escalate through. This was supposed to be a simple renewal, yet it’s turned into days of downtime and frustration.

If you value your time or need reliability for code signing, avoid Sectigo — they clearly don’t understand or support their own products.

I wanted to say a personal thank you to…

I wanted to say a personal thank you to both my Acc Mgr Premavathi Nagulan and also to the Technical support contact Kishanth Chandran. We have a very complicated SSL setup on our end with over 400 indiviual SAN records split across three certificates. We had some issues originally with reissue, but both of the above mentioned individuals took time out of their day to assist, and even went above and beyond their contracted hours to fix the problems i had. Super service from both and i could not be happier with the outcome i have recived. Andrew (Allocate Software/Rldatix)

Ghost company

For two weeks now they are verifying my business for eCommerce level SSL I ordered through my hosting provider. Dozens of emails between provider and myself, ZERO from Sectigo. They don't take calls during normal business hours, they don't respond to submitted tickets. Non existent customer service, ignorance or serious process gaps. Avoid.

My company bought a Code signing…

My company bought a Code signing Certificate from these guys years ago. A lot has changed. My company got bought and the guy who got the certificate no longer works for the company.
If you find yourself in a similar position I can not recommend renewing the certificate with this company.
Every time I provide some bit of documentation or overcome some hurdle they keep throwing up more hurdles.
I scheduled a 'Video Identification' via teams. First their site wouldn't even send me an email but it demanded an ID that it would not send.

Then I got lucky enough to finally get an email from these guys and now I've been waiting in this teams meeting for over 21 minutes and no one is joining the meeting. Looks like their scheduling and/or web site are buggy. It took 4 attempts to get the mail then the scheduling page said that the meeting is in 15 minutes.... but also showed a time of day an hour and 15 minutes away. Had two no-shows at meetings scheduled through their tool so far.

Their support is mostly automated and thus useless. I think the only 'real people' who still work there are guys trying to sell the service. Once they have your money don't expect much cooperation nor help from real people. I didn't get any help that helped me actually get the certificate.

Poor HR's is for Poor organization's only!!

Professional US management contrasts sharply with the unprofessional management in Chennai. The latter often conceals information from higher-level peers and engages in questionable business practices, from the site leader to HR. While Kevin Weiss is striving to grow his organization successfully, recruiting ineffective management roles hinders progress. Local HR in Chennai appears to prioritize profit and politics over merit.

There is a pressing need for a private, open forum because individuals like Arlene and her subordinate Shivani have previously terminated 12 competent employees in 2024 without even a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) or email warnings. HR must learn ethical practices in handling employees and should advocate for women employees rather than favoring managers. Forcing women employees to tolerate managerial harassment is a severe violation of the law, yet employees are reluctant to bring this issue to legal attention. It is hoped that Judy will take appropriate action on this matter.

The validation process with this vendor…

The validation process with this vendor is extremely frustrating. They are horrible about calling back when they say they are going to call back. They purposely close the chat as soon as they can, so they can avoid assisting the customer. They made this process 1000 times more difficult than the usual vendor we go with, which is Digicert. The 3rd party vendor purchased a cert here by accident. So, we had no other choice than to use Sectigo. We may just cancel our purchase completely, because they are horrible to work with.

Would not accept ASIC documents as…

Would not accept ASIC documents as proof, wanted to investigate my accountant after he gave them a document reiterating the fact that we are who we say we are and are at the address we say we are! So far one whole week, and this was a simple renewal!!!

Terrible support and sales.

Terrible support and sales.

We extended our SSL certificate and I asked three times of everything would remain the same and we wouldnt have to do anything. Three times Maxime told me that everything would be fine and I just had to pay. So I did but then the date came on which the extension should have gone into effect. And all our European websites went down. Started a high priority support ticket with Maxime and after two or three calls/mails they just decided to ignore us. Now 4 days later, still no reply and the chat on the website is also terrible. What a shitty company.

Totally useless and inflexible

Totally useless and inflexible system. Impossible to navigate. Won't allow uploads even though it claims to offer that functionality. Often says 'sorry there is a problem'. Hopeless support call centre based in India (I have nothing wrong with basing the call centre there but surely the responders need to be able to speak clearly in English as it is embarrassing have to ask for clarity on every sentence). If i could use any other company for this service i would switch in a heart beat.

Sectigo has terrible support

Sectigo has terrible support and as a result we cannot code sign our software - IT IS A DISASTER! We ordered an EV Token for signing our software. It arrived late but what is even worse is that NO email with the passcode has been sent. We have lodged tickets, sent emails and their chat just sends a message. All have gone unanswered for days now. These people have placed us in a terrible position because we cannot provide critical updates to our software.

Painful Renewal Process and Incompetent Support for Incorrect Certificates

We renewed our code signing certificate with Sectigo (for the second or third time in a row). Aside from the convoluted and time-consuming process they insist on every single time to validate identity—such as verifying a phone number they found on some site called "Kompass.com" (who are they?)—they ended up sending me a completely different type of certificate.
This new certificate doesn’t work like the ones I’ve been ordering previously.
When I reached out to their tech support for guidance on using it in my environment, their response was, quite literally, "you can still search online for any script...etc."

I am extremely disappointed

I am extremely disappointed with the handling of my recent ticket. Despite submitting the requested documents to update my organization's name, the certificate issued still contained the old name, rendering it unusable. This issue remains unresolved, and despite assurances from support that a refund is possible, there has been no progress. This has caused significant delays to my project. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this company, as their processes are unreliable and unresponsive.

Catastrophe!

Unfortunately, the same experience as the other 1-star reviews. There are no instructions on how the process for an S/MIME certificate works. The "experts" in the chat can't help you and do not take you serious.

Very bumpy process acquiring a document signing certificate

The process for getting a document signing certificate was very inconvenient. You will have to validate your identity and company by ways of sending a picture of your ID, and they will call your company's phonenumber to verify that it is real. But none of these steps were initiated from their side, although they say so in the initial mail I received. I had to contact support up until four times to get the process progressing to the next step. In the meantime the status dashboard they have tell you nothing about what's going on. Won't recommend...

They auto charge for an incorrect…

They auto charge for an incorrect certificate. Their billing depart only handles online tickets but they never reply to requests for update status. Calls to Tech Support indicate they raise the status of the ticket but no return. Customer Satisfaction apparently is not a priority. No solution but to buy more certificates and let the incorrect certificate expire.
