We were hit with a damage claim ost rental. We know we didn't cause the damage, but can't proof it in the one specific way Sixt accepts (no photo evidence).
We are presented with a bill for repair, but Sixt refuses to actually repair the damage.
In our correspondence with Sixt they never listened to our arguments, but kept referring to their T&Cs only, namely:
- burden of proof of NOT having caused damage lies with customer, but Sixt's proof of customer's fault is only a tickbox on the rental agreement
- they can charge for repair that they will never carry out
- they can charge for loss of income (due to car taken off the road for repair), even if the repair never takes place.
We are very disappointed with this experience, feel tricked and taken advantage of and will certainly never use Sixt again.
Our advice: always take pictures of the car from every possible angle before driving off!

I recently rented a car with Sixt from 6-9 May. When picking the car up I was told that a 2500 DKK authorisation would be taken on my credit card. No problem. I paid full insurance and returned the car undamaged. I checked my credit card statement and saw that I had actually been charged an extra 2500 DKK rather than an authorisation being taken. I have contacted SIxt via email and still have not received any type of documentation to finalise the rental. I am awaiting the return of the 2500 DKK they charged me and thus far have only received an automated email reply. I have attempted to contact the office in Copenhagen City, only for the phone to hung up after waiting on hold. It is now a month since I returned the car and have heard nothing from them, and have not been refunded my 2500 DKK. I will NEVER rent a car from Sixt again.
**Update - I have finally received an invoice for the rental - more than a month after returning the car. No sign of my refund AND Sixt have charged my credit card for the entire rental and authorisation again - 4000 DKK. So now they have taken 6500 DKK from me on top of the 1500 DKK I paid for the rental.
AVOID SIxt car rental in Denmark.
Tire warning light came on when leaving the airport rental car park. Rental office was already closed so checked the tires manually (no signs of deflation) and drove on to the hotel. Called Sixt service next morning, got the tire fixed and car replaced (lost half a waiting and driving back for the exchange).
Got billed 1 month later for both the tire repair as well as 'lost vehicle time'. After an unpleasant back and forth, SIXT agreed to drop the charges, then proceeded to bill me again anyway. No response to mails after 3 weeks. Totally unprofessional lot - avoid at all costs.
I was very happy with the car they give me . The rental process it was very easy , the refund it takes long time to come back (about 4 weeks) if the refund wouldn't take that long I would've given 5*.

I booked smaller car, but was proposed with bigger one with more options inside. It was my first time in Denmark so I had a lot of questions on how to drive, park, pickup and drop the car afterwards. Got all my questions answered in pleasant manner. Also I was offered insurance with only amount of options I required with great price. Easy to pick up the car, easy to drop it in the end. Within short period of time I've got my money back from reservation. No extra charges were applied. Great experience! I would definitely like to get Sixt car next time and recommend it to my friends and colleagues.

We booked a car through Sixt.dk.
When we wanted to pick up they car they did not have the one we ordered and they tried to give us a smaller one.
I refused and they offered me an upgrade. Then tried to scam us by selling us a service so we did not have to fill up the car upon return. Quoted us 63GBP, but when I was to pay it was suddenly 80-something GBP, as the 63 was without VAT...what a scam.
After returning it we received an extra fee of 80GBP because they claimed it was dirty - caused by a few sandcorn on the footmats.
Sixt Denmark didn't want to help as they claimed they had nothing to do with this (even booked through their website), and just referred to the UK branch.
No pictures, and no evidence provided - just s completely unreasonable unbacked fee for a bit of sand on the mats after 8 days rental.
Sixt NEVER again!!!

I did reply but you ignored my answer, and never came back to me.
Furthermore, it is completely impossible to see on your website, that you are not booking with Sixt in Denmark, which is not even legal

Poor experience when it comes to online customer service. I just wanted to ask why my deposit is being so late to be returned but I have to register an account in order to get an answer to a simple question. Customer's life is made more complicated than it should be.

Polite, easy professional. Always good value and with the added benefit that in Denmark the staff are helpful and not pushy and respect your decisions while making your options clear. Cars are always very clean and in general the service is top quality. The car return a Billund always confuses me a little but that probably the airport signage although better return instructions (on this occasion) would help.

Hired a Corsa in Billund Airport Denmark in summer, Just been contacted by Sixt 4 month after the rental. They want 5000 danish kroner (£600) for a tiny scratch, half to cover the car being taken out of use for 5 days at a repair shop just round the corner. Leaving it so long to inform a customer and charging this amount is complete out of order.

One small scratch on takeover which was not recorded but I photographed. However, other than that - excellent service. Clean, small but suitable car. Best thing was customer service when I had a query. Answered immediately and on a Saturday / Sunday which you don't get with many other companies. Overall very good and thank you Denmark!

Coming back for summer vacation as an expat is always a race of finding a good longer term deal so got in contact with Sixt. Initially thought of a short term lease though that was too long for our requirement but Valdemar was fast at coming with another offer which was just excellent service. So great to see someone just not saying no, but thinking a little outside the box and offering the next best available. Which probably then turned out to be the best available.
