All are very caring, and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. I was very nervous but the staff were amazing. Put me at ease from the start, explained the whole procedure and gave me time to ask questions. The place is lovely and clean, plus easy access for disabled patients.

I have been with Spa Medica for Laser treatment a few years after having cataracts removed previously.
The whole process has been exceptional. The staff at the Swindon branch are amazing. Rais, the optometrist, has seen me quite a few times and has been so supportive.
I would definitely recommend them for treatment. Thank you to all of you . 💐

All the staff were so lovely! My surgery took place immediately when I arrived and it was much quicker than I was expected. The surgeon and nurse talked me through everything and put my apprehension at ease. I highly recommend SpaMedica.

Excellent customer service through out both cataract surgeries from reception staff to the consultant.
All staff are so friendly and welcoming.
I felt very comfortable asking questions - they all are ready to answer and support.
I love the idea of knitting squares for animal shelters - what better way to wait for your pupil to dilate!!!

Don't go here if you are not old.
Only 45 and diagnosed with cataracts as a side effect of strong steroids. Was persuaded to go here by my options as there was less waiting and still done under the NHS. No discussion, just "yes we can fix them". And yes they quickly and professionally fitted the same cheap basic plastic lenses they give 80 and 90-year-olds. Not designed for people who want to still see for another 40 years at a variety of distances. No discussion of all the options actually available if you pay money. The care was excellent, I can't fault that. But here I am, I spent over a thousand pounds on three pairs of glasses afterwards to sort my new eyes. And yet every day I suffer with not being able to do all the close detail work I want to. Yes I don't need glasses to drive or watch TV but I didn't really do any of that anyway. I'd have loved someone to say "do you want to see things nearby or far away as standard?" Now I'm looking at options that may cost me thousands more to replace the lenses they fitted as it's making me miserable.

Simply exceptional and professional staff at Blackpool made my experience so very good. Having vision in one eye only I was somewhat concerned about anybody touching the left eye let alone performing surgery on it. Dr Sattar - thank you so much for your expertise, skill and brilliant patient commitment, Thank you to all the theatre team, Toni, Jeanette and Jackie nurses who were so brilliant with me and Jack on reception too. (Hope names are spelled correctly). My vision is wonderful again after just a few days. Wow what a difference

More than happy to have had the cataract surgery with Spa Medica. Once on site the process and treatment was completed easily and explained at each step by the staff.
All done in 10-12 minutes once in the surgery. No issues and the noticeable improvement was seen in 24 hours. Two weeks of eye drops and I’m done. Thank you.

Absolutely delighted with the service I received whilst undergoing cataract surgery at the Birmingham clinic. The process is so streamlined - moving from pre operation with id checks and drops in eye, then to another check just before going into the theatre, then the surgeon came and introduced himself. Then straight into theatre for about 15 mins and everything explained again, absolutely no discomfort at all. Moved straight to post op and given my drops and dos and don'ts and contact details for any concerns I may have and then out to make follow up appointment. All this on a Saturday and a fire alarm to deal with during this process. Why can't the NHS be as efficient as this private company which the NHS contracts out to. No letters in post with appointment you can't keep, everything done then and their. Perhaps, some of the NHS managers should also be contracted out to SpaMedica to see how health care can be delivered efficiently.

I was first diagnosed as having cataracts. I was given a choice of clinics to attend. A couple of friends of mine gave great reviews, which gave me the confidence to choose SpaMedica. I have been delighted to have chosen such a great clinic. After 2 pain free surgeries, one on each eye, I am delighted with the results. The service was exemplary, as were the staff.

This was my second Cataracts procedure carried out SpaMedica Bolton [my right eye procedure was carried out 2 months ago] The service from the staff was fire class. Nurse [Kim] carried out the anaesthetic and she made feel relaxed and talked me through the whole process.
Andre Oberholster was the consultant surgeon who carried out the procedure and he was first class. He explained the operation and also gave me information regarding my lens option for my left eye.
The procedure was painless, with all staff involved being very professional.
After the operation Mr Oberholster checked on me & the discharge nurse gave me all the necessary information.
I would like to thank all the staff at SpaMedica Bolton for their professionalism, especially Andre Oberholster.

I was very happy with the experience with Spa Medica in having both my cataracts replaced earlier this year.
My only feedback is that though I still work full time despite being over state retirement age I had to chase my fit note, on both occasions. And when I called to ask what the recommended protocol was for working patients regarding time off etc to advise my employer the employee I spoke really struggled to answer my question.

First class experience all of the staff were kind and caring, the procedure was very straightforward and any questions I had answered in a professional manner, the outcome of the surgery was amazing after care is faultless highly recommended.

Poole on Wednesday 22nd July 2026. 1300 appointment. Cataract op on left eye two years ago went well no issues.
But
Right eye, no communication or introduction with surgeon or trainee. Not told about this or asked for permission. On table for about an hour with real surgeon giving constant guidance in my ear. Trainee seemed to have problems following instructions and had to be corrected many times. Then my involuntary eye muscles started to contract and real surgeon told me to control them otherwise I would end up being cut by sharp knives and then have to endure a series of operations on the NHS to correct this. A frantic search for lidocaine anaesthetic followed and the real surgeon took over.
Took me 2 days to stop shaking. No apology from surgeon, he and the trainee disappeared to far side of operating theatre and stayed there.
So much for patient care. The whole episode was appalling.
ALSO. called emergency number, was promised call back within 24 hours but it didn’t happen.
A thoroughly unpleasant and traumatising experience.
Just rung back now, Monday 1630. So much for 24 hour response. I made initial call on Thursday 23rd.

My vision has deteriorated after having cataract surgery. Had YAG laser surgery 3 months later but no improvement. Now referred to a retinal consultant at Exeter Hospital.

Spa Medica Leicester. Had a cataract op 16 months ago, all really good. About 6 months ago my vision was not so good so my optician sent me for laser on the same eye as plaque had developed on the lens. Can’t thank you enough, my sight is so much better, the colours are amazing. The staff are all lovely and very caring, can’t fault the place at all. All I can say is thank you so much
