Highly recommend. Feeling comfortable after two cataract surgeries. Nice place very comfortable and clean. Staff very polite caring & knowledgeable. The surgeon Mr Appaswamy and his team have done a great job. Many thanks.

From entering Spamedica Norwich I was treated superbly by the nurses and the surgeon.

From the receptionist at the first floor to Shan , Jacky and the theatre staff with the female surgeon who operated on my eye they were wonderful. Thank you ever so much and you have done a great job.

A very relaxed and efficient procedure. Second eye cataract operation so knew what to expect but seemed to go much quicker and following day had very little discomfort. All staff were professional, friendly and made me feel comfortable and at ease. Would definitely recommend Spamedica

I paid nearly £8,000 for EMV premium lenses because I believed they would give me freedom from glasses for distance and intermediate vision. Unfortunately, that was not the outcome. I was left long-sighted, still need glasses for distance and intermediate vision, and also experience halos at night.

After taking my complaint through all three stages, SpaMedica's Hospital Director accepted that the information provided before surgery could reasonably have led me to expect greater spectacle independence than was actually achieved. They acknowledged that the potential need for distance glasses had not been communicated clearly enough, apologised, agreed to review their consent process and patient information, and refunded 50% of my premium lens fee (£3,995).

However, they never accepted my central concern that I was verbally led to believe I would not need distance glasses after surgery, which was the main reason I decided to pay privately for the premium lens upgrade. While they accepted that the wider information could have created unrealistic expectations, they concluded there was no evidence that I had been explicitly guaranteed freedom from glasses.

I also found the complaints process long, stressful and, at times, discouraging. It took three stages before these issues were acknowledged, which may discourage some patients from pursuing genuine concerns.

I was also disappointed that choosing the private premium lens option did not result in a noticeably better patient experience. On several occasions I waited around two hours for appointments, despite paying privately for the upgraded treatment.

My advice to anyone considering premium lenses is to ask very specific questions about the likelihood of still needing glasses for distance, intermediate and reading vision, and ask for those explanations to be confirmed in writing before deciding to proceed.

I had my second cataract surgery at SpaMedica in Chesterton, Newcastle under Lyme, on Monday 3rd August.
From the initial free consultation to the aftercare offered, I have been completely satisfied. I chose the RayOne Galaxy multifocal lens, which gives the best chance of not needing glasses. Every member of staff I met provided me with clear information to ensure I was fully informed about my surgery and beyond.
The surgery itself was pain-free. Following surgery I was given a course of eyedrops with detailed instruction on how and when to administer them and what do do in the event of any problems, which, I must add, I haven't experienced. I will be going for my follow-up consultation next week after this, my second procedure. The results of my first lens replacement have left me with 20/20 vision. If the second op gives the same results I can say goodbye to glasses for years to come.
I have no hesitation in recommendind SpaMedica.

I recently had cataract surgery with SpaMedica, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. From the moment I arrived until I left, every member of staff was welcoming, professional, kind, and reassuring. My cataract operation at SpaMedica Swansea has given me back the eyesight in my right eye that I never thought I could get. I had my first cataract op on Friday at SpaMedica Wokingham and the whole team were friendly reassuring and very efficient.As soon as I can have the other eye done I will definitely go back there.

All are very caring, and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. I was very nervous but the staff were amazing. Put me at ease from the start, explained the whole procedure and gave me time to ask questions. The place is lovely and clean, plus easy access for disabled patients.

I have been with Spa Medica for Laser treatment a few years after having cataracts removed previously.
The whole process has been exceptional. The staff at the Swindon branch are amazing. Rais, the optometrist, has seen me quite a few times and has been so supportive.

All the staff were so lovely! My surgery took place immediately when I arrived and it was much quicker than I was expected. The surgeon and nurse talked me through everything and put my apprehension at ease. I highly recommend SpaMedica.

Don't go here if you are not old.
Only 45 and diagnosed with cataracts as a side effect of strong steroids. Was persuaded to go here by my options as there was less waiting and still done under the NHS. No discussion, just "yes we can fix them". And yes they quickly and professionally fitted the same cheap basic plastic lenses they give 80 and 90-year-olds. Not designed for people who want to still see for another 40 years at a variety of distances. No discussion of all the options actually available if you pay money. The care was excellent, I can't fault that. But here I am, I spent over a thousand pounds on three pairs of glasses afterwards to sort my new eyes. And yet every day I suffer with not being able to do all the close detail work I want to. Yes I don't need glasses to drive or watch TV but I didn't really do any of that anyway. I'd have loved someone to say "do you want to see things nearby or far away as standard?" Now I'm looking at options that may cost me thousands more to replace the lenses they fitted as it's making me miserable.

Simply exceptional and professional staff at Blackpool made my experience so very good. Having vision in one eye only I was somewhat concerned about anybody touching the left eye let alone performing surgery on it. Dr Sattar - thank you so much for your expertise, skill and brilliant patient commitment, Thank you to all the theatre team, Toni, Jeanette and Jackie nurses who were so brilliant with me and Jack on reception too. (Hope names are spelled correctly). My vision is wonderful again after just a few days. Wow what a difference
