Appalling behaviour

Appalling behaviour.

My son has been waiting for feedback from an assessment which he was promised last Wednesday. (It’s now Monday).

Phoning the Regional Manager recruiter whose details he was given a few times since then, the call goes straight to voicemail and he’s sent an automated text asking him to text. His text messages remain unanswered.

Phoning the number we found on Google for the relevant Staffline office, they denied being involved and said we needed to contact the head office in Nottingham to get the correct number, as being a “new office” they didn’t have contact details of any otjer branches, and being a “different branch” they couldn’t find his details on their system after his assessment.

Phoning the head office, an automated reply which ends “sorry we’re unable
to take your call right now”‘which
then cuts off.

Surely a simple phone call with a start date or a “no thanks” isn’t too much to ask for, is it.

Unfair, Unprofessional, and Questionably Lawful Treatment by Staffline

I am shocked and disgusted by the way Staffline has treated me. I worked with dedication, delivered excellent performance, and never received any formal complaints or warnings — yet I was suddenly dismissed without any valid explanation.

This isn’t just poor management — in my view, it undermines the principles of UK employment law, particularly the rights to:

Protection from unfair dismissal under the Employment Rights Act 1996 (after the qualifying period of service).

Written reasons for dismissal (Section 92), which every employee has the right to request and receive.

Proper disciplinary or dismissal procedures in line with the ACAS Code of Practice, which recommend fair process and clear communication.

Staffline’s failure to provide transparency or justification raises serious concerns about their respect for these rights and for the people who work hard to support their business.

If you value job security, lawful treatment, and basic decency in the workplace, my strong advice is: avoid Staffline at all costs.

Just don't...

I've worked at a Cheshire-based supermarket RDC as an HGV driver for 4 years. Staffline recently bought the agency I've been with and no one has a clue: they've requested pretty much everything other than my blood group (although its already there, ironically, in my Staffline 'Universe' profile and has not changed). Additionally, when updating their so-called 'Universe', its useless and does not save the info after clicking 'save' and so my profile remains incomplete. They use something called Trust ID to verify ID and I've done this 4 times now, but continue to receive reminders to do it! They ask for loads and loads of personal and sensitive date by email (very easy for hackers to access), yet they bang on about "GDPR" - we can't do this or that because of 'GDPR'. Yet, by email to a Staffline rep, they require my passport, driving licence and 2 other HGV cards, payslip / HMRC correspondence with N.I. number, a utility bill with my address, so any hacker will have from these documents my full name, address, DOB, licence and passport numbers and loads of original ID verification documents! Their 'Universe' system is utter crap and no one knows their ass from their elbow (in one day, 5 different Staffline people called be about the same thing, although I'd done it in full twice in the last week!) Absolutely clueless and hypocritical regarding GDPR. They've only managed such growth through immense debt, not through organic, positive cash flow growth.

Personally

Personally, I would not recommend this agency to anyone looking for a fair and transparent employer either.
Why, because they lied to us from the very beginning in a very cowardly way 🥵

Dishonest and Misleading

Dishonest and Misleading – Avoid If You Value Transparency

I feel completely misled by this company. During the hiring process, I was told the pay would be £18–£19 per hour. That was the main reason I agreed to sign up. However, just 24 hours before my start date, they changed the rate to £14–£15 per hour with no explanation or apology.

On top of that, they expect you to work 12-hour shifts even though the contract clearly states 9 hours. It’s unprofessional and disrespectful to treat workers like this—especially when they’ve already committed their time and planned around the original offer.

If you’re thinking of working with this company, get everything in writing and be prepared for sudden changes. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone looking for a fair and transparent employer.

Barnsley Premier Foods bakery

Barnsley Premier Foods bakery - very unprofessional and incompetent staff. Three foreign men called Pawel, Michalis and Konstantin, working as agency reps on site, they are rude and not capable of doing their job. Lack of knowledge of British law, they wouldn't respect prebooked holidays, they fail to do their duty as employer, they're known to mess up employees wages and not pay them correctly for the hours worked. When approached, they're very unpleasant and their English is hard to understand.

Interviewed for a job and then ignored

Interviewed for a job and then ignored, not even the fact that I was ghosted. I was specifically given a starting date, and told my interview had been successful.

They also set up a direct debit on my account which is concerning

I'd give a negative score if I could!

Aside one member of staff, my experience with Staffline was atrocious.
At one point they "laid me off" due to an apparent breach of contract - which wasn't in the contract!!! They didn't have a clue what they were talking about.
The meeting, the "Investigation" outcome was pre determined, which I later discovered after utilizing the freedom of information act.
They reinstated me, and then after I had an accident and was hit by a truck at Landrover by a DHL driver, and it was on video, they offered no occupational health, no support and, again utilising the freedom of information act conspired against me behind the scenes. (I won my claim out of interest) After making a complain one of the directors phoned me - he was not interested in the gross misconduct towards me, or that the people that had committed it still worked for him, he just wanted to keep me quiet.
Absolute shit show of a company, with the moral code of a grooming ring!

I had a very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience with Staffline. Despite being a reliable and dedicated employee, I was dismissed while I was on sick leave. This decision felt unfair and showed a complete lack of empathy or support during a difficult time.

Instead of receiving help when I needed it most, I was left without a job and with no clear explanation or professional communication.
It is unacceptable for an agency that claims to care about its workers' rights to treat people this way.

I do not recommend Staffline to anyone who is looking for stability, respect, and fair treatment at work.

Avoid Staffline – misleading, unprofessional, and a waste of time

Applied for a Production Operative role. Staffline arranged an interview & induction and asked for personal info upfront — including my DOB, NI number, bank details, and signed agreements — all to be completed on their portal, Staffline Universe.

About 15 of us attended the interview and induction. We watched training videos, filled out forms, and were told to agree on answers as a group just to pass the safety test. There was no real interview. At the end, we were told to text our names to a number belonging to someone called Mark Darlington for scheduling.

A few days later, I received a job brief by email, but the shift time was incorrect. I messaged and called Mark Darlington. He replied once, saying the job brief was just informational and that my actual shift would match my chosen time. After that, nothing. I followed up multiple times via messages and calls asking about the schedule — no reply. Just silence.

The whole process was chaotic.

After researching, I found many similar complaints online — same false promises, same ghosting, and serious concerns about personal data handling.

Please be cautious. This company is disorganised, untrustworthy, and seems to play with people’s time and personal info. I regret getting involved.

I hope this helps others stay informed!!

Don't bother

I had a very disappointing experience with Staffline. From the beginning, communication was inconsistent and unprofessional. I was given conflicting information about job roles and start dates, and when I reached out for clarification, I was either ignored or passed between different people who didn’t seem to know what was going on.

There was also a clear lack of support once I was placed in a role. Any issues I encountered were met with silence or vague responses, and I never felt like Staffline had my back as a worker. They were quick to onboard me but offered little to no follow-up or guidance after that.

Overall, it felt like I was just a number to them — not a person looking for reliable work or long-term opportunities. I would not recommend Staffline based on my experience.

Just look at the reviews

Just look at the reviews! A few weeks ago I had someone ring me from staffline Nottingham as I’d applied for a warehouse role in Doncaster. She was extremely obnoxious. Horrible people skills. I was then sent to B&Q for interview. But it wasn’t an interview, we were sat around for hours whilst each of us handed bank details over. Without even asking us if we wanted the job. Then they showed us round where they admitted after I asked that you get one break a day! One break!!! In eight to ten hours. Illegal it should be. That said it all. The hours were terrible as well. And the distance. Anyway, next thing, I waited for four days and didn’t get a call. Then at 8pm at night, they sent me a text saying don’t forget your first day is tomorrow morning early. I was like what? I said that’s too short notice with childcare, they said you were told of the start date, which I wasn’t. I said I’ll try but have you got anymore start dates? They said they’d check and didn’t reply. Then I get an email saying employment cancelled. Haha. Oh come on. NEVER AGAIN!!! Awful place awful staff line. Not to be trusted.

How is this Agency still in business

How is this Agency still in business, I was reached out twice for two jobs, the first one in December It was only temporary work for 4-6 weeks (40 hour a week) after going over the job and told them yes I'm available straight away, I was told that someone would be contacting me within 24 hours to Start, I heard nothing back no response to emails or texts.

They reached out to me again 3 weeks ago about starting a 60 hour week job, it wasn't permanent but on going, I was asked if I could get the location and if I'm available immediately I said I was to both, I was then contacted by two separate people who went over something's for me, I was then told id need to be there on the Monday morning, and that I will be contacted by the Sunday with the Start time.

Nobody contacted me and now they read the texts, and straight up Ignore me, they haven't responded to emails or anything and you cannot get through to the Hull office the number is constantly saying line busy, doesn't matter what time you call all you get throughout the day is line busy.

The fact they have done this twice and both times just as I was waiting for someone to let me know what time I should be starting..

This is absolutely disgusting and unprofessional from a work agency, they don't do what there supposed to do, I can't even delete my account as I will now avoid this agency, not only have they acted in the most unprofessional way, a work agency doesn't even do what they are in business to do, but they have also shown me if you had any issues regarding pay etc then you have absolute no chance in contacting anyone, they have made it perfectly clear they are unreachable.

They need investigating they are a malicious business.

Anyone looking to work for them Avoid completely
