The transaction fees are really starting to eat into my margins. Support is also much slower than it used to be. Had some issues getting the API to play nicely with my site.

We use only 1 time payments no recurred billing and we force mandatory 3ds secure on all payments.
We have no disputes and no refunds. Only successful transactions. Yet, Stripe claims we have billed people without consent and they are closing our account and refunding everybody.
Their support does not exist after they make a decision like this. Unreacheable.
They are thieves. No evidence, no warning. Just take your money and run with it.
We have already paid our workers for the coaching they did.
Dishonest company.
Edit: They never reached out to me and proceeded with the refunds of my customer. Response below is a lie.

Stripe is an absolutely terrible company. I cannot imagine businesses like this operating in the United States. This company ought to be shut down and closed for work.
I started reading the reviews on this platform, and I truly wish I had read them sooner. I am a small business owner running a coaching business where I coach business owners on how to grow their personal brands on social media. All I do is coach. I do not steal. I do not scam. I do not sell marijuana. I do not sell porn or illicit items.
Yet after only two of my clients paid me a total of $5,000, my account was flagged and I received the same standard, run-of-the-mill message:
“We identified an elevated dispute risk on your account. Payouts are paused for the next 120 days. During this time, held funds will be used to cover any disputes or refunds on your account. The remaining balance will be transferred to your bank account once your payouts are enabled at the end of this period. If you believe we’ve made a mistake, provide additional information about your business for review.”
I provided all requested information on time. I was told it would take two business days to process. It has now been well over five business days and I have still not heard anything from them.
In my desperation, I started reading Reddit, and I have now seen hundreds of small business owners who have been through this exact same thing. Reading other reviews on here shows me hundreds more. Stripe is systematically doing this to small business owners.
America runs on small businesses. Yet companies like Stripe are actively killing small businesses by inflicting this level of financial pain on people.
I have payroll to run. I have families depending on this $5,000. I have rent to pay. I have bills to keep up with. All of this is being hindered. I am on the verge of having my business run down because Stripe is refusing to release money that has already been earned. They are essentially holding my money hostage with no interest.
I have seen on Reddit that people’s money has been held for the full 120 days. This should be deemed fraud. Companies like Stripe should not be allowed to operate like this. This is illegal. Stripe is an illegal company.
I am formally requesting that my funds be released immediately and that a real human being respond to my emails. I am tired of fake AI responses.
My account ID is: acct_1RTtDoCGxOz4oWfE
I have already filed a Consumer Against a Business/Company complaint with the DOJ California office. I have shared my experience on the BBB. My next step is to find other affected parties and move forward with a suit.

Horrible Experience with Stripe. Avoid at All Costs
I’ve had an absolutely terrible experience with Stripe. They constantly flagged my account as a "restricted business," even though I run a completely legitimate coaching company that in no way violates their terms of service. Despite filling out their appeals form over 20 times, it gets rejected every single time without any proper explanation.
Trying to contact Stripe’s support is a nightmare. They are completely unhelpful, and my account remains suspended for no valid reason. I’ve also had to wait an unreasonable amount of time to receive my money, which has seriously impacted my business.
On top of that, getting tax invoices, something essential for my administration, is next to impossible. The entire dashboard is overly complicated and makes it harder to manage things than it should be.
Honestly, this is just terrible service. Don't waste your time using Stripe. For me, it’s a hard pass.

I first used stripe ban in the pandemic when everyone switched to automatic payment. The 7 day wait was an ache but was resolved. Over the 3 years after tens of thousands of pounds was paid via customers through my stripe. The early pay out fees were an extras expense to myself but I was getting my money.
Stripe earned thousands from me in my last business set up. They are a payment facilitator through my customised app which an app developer creates for sports coaching business’
Today I received a phone call from stripe after telling them continually withholding money I’ve had paid in is impacting my new business start up. The refused to allow same day pay outs and I said it is going to result in the business that uses them for the app development losing me as a customer as I will cancel the contract with them.
So that is what I have done!
Happy taking the money and the percentage fees off me for years but when I ask them to remove the 7 day wait when I need the cash flow for my new venue they refuse.
Absolutely disgusting bone headed behaviour that puts other peoples business’ at risk.
If it affects you, please find a way to take them to court. This company needs a class action court case to change its monopolistic behaviour. So others don’t suffer!

I rarely leave reviews…and if i do they’re always 5 stars. If I receive bad service I always thought “maybe someone was having a bad day, lets not make it worse”. But this is the second instance of this by stripe and i’m so fed up.
February of this year i decided to quit my job and only focus on growing my business. A few months ago i opened a new stripe account and was asked to verify my business. Super normal. They said i was ALL GOOD and my business was verified with the info i gave them. Weeks later i have a client make a payment. More specifically a client that was coaching and building a business for. So some of the money he paid was gonna be reinvested into his business and some of his ad spend. And ofc paying me for my time. But then “randomly”, as soooon as i received that payment stripe locks my account and says they need to verify my business again. Literally almost made that deal fall through because it delayed us by over a week. But they finally accepted my documents the payment was deposited and they said next time it wont be as long since it was my first payment on the account. Made sense to me
Fast forward to this week. Been grinding day and night working my butt off to close yet again another high ticket deal. Account has been in good standing, no chargebacks. Nothing since the last debacle.
But like clock work, i receive payment, they lock my account. So same situation, this time, more money was received, and now this project is delayed yet again. Not every business owner has amazing credit and has a thousands in credit cards. Each deal i close is reinvested and alot of times used to buy supplies for that project.
But at this point, it seems like everytime i accept payment via stripe they’ll lock my account, to verify what my business is.
The rep said it was normal to have to verify what your business is every few months but i dont know of many businesses or any businesses at all that change niches or switch up their business models quarterly.
This is super discouraging and definitely makes me wanna use another processor.
The problem is stripe has kinda monopolized the processing industry…so the good options are limited and they know this.
I dont care about random checks. But it doesnt seem so random when they only do these checks when you receive payments. This recent deal i closed couldnt have come at a better time too. My car was stolen a couple months back, i’ve had to front fees for family funerals, i’ve been put through the ringer and my hard work created a silver lining, but my excitement was cut short when out of nowhere stripe decides that now i need to verify my business (that hasn’t changed since the last verification) minutes after i received a payment.
I’d recommend this site for big millionaires who have money in all types of places(probably the only clients they care about anyway) but for small biz owners, or anyone who provides for their family with their profits. Steer clear, your kids will be left starving because of “random” verification checks that last indefinitely.

I was recommended by a work college to help take automatic payments from clients. I was told that they take a slight cut from each payment. Which I didn't mind as long as it improved the fluidity of my service sales to my clients.
I had never heard of this company before so I decided to link it with a coaching app to improve my business
Challenges that came up
- Wouldn't accept PDF documents.
- Would reject even scanned documents.
I find it very interesting how a company like this would make so many barriers for potentials customers that are actual interested in the service.
Overall don't really see what Im investing in.

Took me a minute to get how it works, not being a techie type, but very happy with the ease Stripe now brings to processing payments for Walk Your Why coaching clients.

I've used Stripe for my online coaching business since 2017 and it's been fantastic. Their support is phenomenal. I've never had any issues with payouts or glitches, unlike other services. I love that the very robust core features are totally free, and I can pick and choose which additional features my business needs as I need them. The ability to charge in both CAD and USD- and have those currencies pay out into their own distinct bank accounts is amazing. Definitely recommend for small businesses.

Stripe is a truly great platform, and the backbone of my online coaching business. What little glitches there are can be resolved quickly via their ever-helpful live chat.
Beware of this company if you are a small business.
Despite over a year and a half of smooth transactions, Stripe suddenly judged my business practices to be "high risk" and shut down my account with very little warning or explanation.
They confirmed that this was for no reason or action on my part, except that I offer my consulting services as readings, something I've been doing openly since the beginning of my agreement with Stripe.
My business was interpreted by Stripe as "psychic services", although I do not agree with this, nor do I claim to be a psychic on any website, nor in any of my published materials. I clarified with them that I am an educator, consultant and coach. (Not a scammy hotline psychic liability.)
I use the Hindu and Judaic religious systems (through Vedic astrological and Tarot methods) as a tool in my group and individual coaching. These methods are based on religious beliefs that I and many of my clients hold.
Stripe disabled my business because of this.
Be aware that they can label your business as liability and publicly blacklist you as well.
Short summary: These guys do not care about you at all. Take your business elsewhere and don't wast your precious time dealing with this appalling service.
Long version: Honestly, one of the worst companies I've dealt with. Their friendly customer service is a thin veneer to a very poor product. Twice, I have set up the service on two different websites, which are fully legally compliant. I do not transact any sales online. My services are clear and everything is conducted offline, via a reputable invoicing application. In both cases, after investing time to set up up the account and integrate it with my invoicing system, they arbitrarily decided to discontinue service with no specific explanation as to why. When asked, they merely point you to a online page which, as far as I can tell, I'm not in violation of. There is no review process when they do this. The only way you can continue is to start over again with a brand new account and PRAY TO GOD they don't reject it again later.
To Stripe: I'm not sure what you are referring to with regards to the first account. With regards to the second, I've spoken with customer services who have advised me that, apparently, your process is only to review and approve customers once a volume of payments have been reached. This practice is extremely disrespectful of my time and money. It seems that my account was rejected because I offer life coaching services. Why wasn't this assessed up front, prior to wasting my time and eventually retaining my clients money without any dispute raised?
Your friendly, empathetic tone is patronising when your process is so customer unfriendly.
