Dreadful

Dreadful. Told by seat geek I need to register with stripe to resell mlb tickets. Yet they seem unable to match the account and details. Wasted more time than a game lasts trying to sort it out. Why do this company even need involved - seat geek say nothing about it when you register to resell.

Stripe should not support businesses that sell cheating tools for online games.

Stripe should not support businesses that sell cheating tools for online games.

It appears that Stripe is processing payments for companies involved in selling cheats, hacks, and unfair gaming software, including websites such as kernaim.to and lavicheats.com, and related merchant names such as Aero SOFT, SCH, and K.B TECHNOLOGIES PTE. LTD. These are only examples; there appear to be many more similar websites and operators using Stripe or Stripe-linked payment accounts to sell cheating tools for online games.

These services harm legitimate players, damage game publishers, and often violate the terms of service, intellectual property rights, anti-circumvention rules, and security policies of the games they target. In many cases, cheat software may also involve unauthorized access, software tampering, bypassing technical protections, or interference with online services.

In my opinion, this raises serious compliance, legal, and ethical concerns. Payment processors are expected to apply effective merchant due diligence, risk monitoring, sanctions and fraud controls, and enforcement of their own prohibited-business policies. If merchants are using multiple leased, third-party, or replacement accounts to continue operating after restrictions, that should be treated as a serious red flag requiring enhanced review.

Stripe should urgently investigate these merchants and the broader network of similar websites, review whether they are violating Stripe’s terms of service and applicable compliance obligations, and take appropriate action to prevent its payment infrastructure from being used for the sale of game cheats, hacking tools, or services that facilitate unlawful or harmful activity.

A payment platform with Stripe’s reputation should not enable businesses that profit from unfair gameplay, software abuse, and potential legal violations. Stripe should strengthen its enforcement process and ensure that merchants cannot bypass compliance checks by using multiple accounts, leased payment profiles, or rotating merchant identities.

“Rug-Pull” - A.K.A. “STRIPE”

Stripe has knowingly engineered a system to engage in “rug pulls” of small businesses. The numbers work and that’s why they do it. Read carefully.

Stripe uses “AI Machine Learning” and their AI looks for “high risk transactions” - and this is entirely “gaming” - it’s their game. Allow me to explain. Transactions over a certain amount (sometimes anything over $100.00 and sometimes anything over $1000.00) get flagged by their AI as a “high risk transaction” or “possible fraud” if it’s been keyed in manually. As in a “card not present transaction”. So here’s the multi-million dollar question. Stripe, why would you allow any merchants to complete “card not present” (manually keyed) transactions if they are flagged by your AI as “high risk transactions”?

I am going to answer that question for the review readers, as I suspect other merchants have come here looking for answers for the “rug-pull” like I have. At first Stripe allows these transactions (keep in mind we’re not talking about consumers disputing these transactions) these are all valid transactions that the consumers consented to. And Stripe has discovered that some of these merchants have opened a door for them to explore a new frontier. That’s what I’m referring to as a “rug-pull”. There’s many businesses out there (lots of them service based) that consistently do transactions over $1000, and at the end the service the customer just hands over the credit card and tells them to put it through. Most customers don’t want to go through a sophisticated 2 factor authentication, address verification blah blah blah just to do an online payment. And honestly at least half of people over 45 are not tech savvy enough to do them timely or at all anyway. Which is why businesses like mine need a “card not present” option for manual entry. As a service based business we have a lot to carry, and we do a lot of appointments so carrying another terminal would just slow us down.

Stripe allows payments like this for quite a while and then one day their “AI risk factor scoring system” (entirely made up by their own standard and not used by others in the industry) starts to block payments until you have to contact them to ask what’s going on. The next day after you contact them you get a notice saying “payouts have been paused pending a review of your account”. Then very shortly after that you get another message saying that “we can no longer support your business due to high risk transactions”. They block your payouts and they keep whatever funds are in your account for themselves. These are funds that have NOT been disputed by your customers. They tell you the reasons for keeping the funds are to prevent money laundering and facilitating fraud - but remember they allow these exact same transactions to go through for some time before they decide to “rug pull” another small business. So of course the merchant doesn’t see it coming. And if this isn’t deliberate - Stripe your AI is wrong! They also tell you that they will be debiting your account to refund consumers for transactions that they have (themselves decided) were not authorized. Yeah right Stripe! - no business returns money to consumers that haven’t asked for a refund or disputed a payment. That would be stupid business and there’s no way that you refund consumers cards without being ordered to by a bank. It’s a ruse. Some have lost 100K+!! The reason why you do it is for profit. Collison brothers should be shot!

Stripe only makes a small amount from every transaction so by “rug pulling” businesses that transact high amounts they earn in one shot as much as they’re going to make from that business for the next 2-3 years anyway. They’ve made that without any work, plus the “fine print” allows it, and they’re justifying it by saying to the SEC that their “AI Machine Learning” has detected high risk and possible fraud - “so don’t worry, pat us on the back we’ve just prevented money laundering”. Yeah right Stripe! You have a 1 star trust rating by your merchant customers - you are the fraud, and you damn well know it! You’re getting your “team” (who are all people that work from home) to close accounts that meet specific criteria - (high value transactions and maybe 1 or 2 payment disputes) - which is regular in business. Then send out pre-written responses like “as stated in our user agreement, these funds will not be returned to you” and “we understand this is not the outcome you were looking for”.

You’ve just found a new frontier Stripe, and not many have caught on yet. The reason you have so many customers but yet your ratings are in the toilet is because merchants have few easy options. Businesses also honestly expect that their money is theirs - not to be “rug
pulled” Thank you for preventing money laundering through fraud however...

Hi—we understand your detailed analysis of what you perceive as systematic "rug pulls" targeting small businesses, particularly those processing large manual card-not-present transactions.

The impact on service-based businesses needing manual entry options, and the sudden transition from normal operations to account closure without proper recourse, creates significant hardship for legitimate merchants.

Please contact us through https://support.stripe.com regarding any held funds, though we recognize this suggestion may feel inadequate given your analysis of our risk assessment system and its impact on businesses.

We need to provide more transparency about our risk assessment criteria and better protect legitimate businesses processing necessary card-not-present transactions rather than implementing sudden account closures that disrupt operations.

HORRIBLE!

HORRIBLE!

Simply horrible. They took my money and their support pretend to "try to help you" while just scamming you. They keep sending you emails (once a day if you are lucky) with completely useless information, dodge your questions, lie and pretend their are problems where there is no problem just to install you while they scam you. And also with that fake "we are sorry that you are experiencing problemas and we understand you are frustated" bs that you know is just to pretend they do care and they are polite.

Be aware that they scam people and it's not with everybody, just a few seletcted. Because if they did that to everyone they would feel a stronger backlash. So they select some to scam while keeping the impression that just a few people are having problems.

So basically working with them is a game of luck and you might get scammed. Good luck!

Worst Service Ever

Ah, Stripe! The payment gateway that onboarded our business with open arms, requested every document under the sun (I half expected them to ask for my grandmother’s birth certificate), and after countless back-and-forths, finally gave us the green light. Business was running smoothly… until one fine day, Stripe decided to vanish our payment account into thin air, citing "high risk."

Now, here’s the plot twist: they’re not just keeping our payments—oh no, they’re refunding them directly to our customers. Customers who have already used our services! So now, I get to play the wonderful game of "Hey, remember that payment you made? Yeah, about that… could you, uh, pay again?" Because that’s totally a normal and seamless customer experience, right?

Stripe proudly claims to have a "transparent" payment system. And yes, I can confirm—it's so transparent that our money just disappeared into thin air! What’s even more baffling? Our competitors are running the exact same payment model on Stripe without any issues. So either Stripe has a secret spinning wheel in their office that determines which businesses survive, or their approval team was on vacation when they reviewed our case.

In summary, if you enjoy surprises, unpredictability, and the thrill of watching your business funds take an unexpected journey, Stripe is the service for you. For the rest of us? Think twice, thrice… maybe four times before signing up, unless you fancy writing awkward emails asking customers to pay again.

Stripe is a racket and scam

Stripe is a racket , non relevant, slow, scam platform. Do not use this you have 50 others faster and more reliable. They held my funds (still do) since there is an internal error and I cannot transfer my funds to my registered bank and those people advising me to open a new bank account in new bank, oh it is just a fingersnap move isnt it? I lost 1000 USD on their exchange rate and their game lasts 1 months already with poor customer service, every day new agent and new generic guideliness that never help. Now I need to refund all the clients and pray that they will pay me again, using another platform of course. Meanwhile will again lose on the racket exchange rate since I am sending money back. Who will refund me? nobody. Looking forward to delete my account here as soon as I manage to get any funds out of this racket company. Disgusting

Stripe lies and falsifies tickets

Stripe provides deceptive and misleading information about its products including fees, RADAR, DIsputes and Chargeback protection.

On Jan 2, I messaged Stripe about a service they offered. I asked how to enroll. The representative intentionally provided false facts about the service which resulted in adverse actions. When I raised the concerns about the misleading information, Stripe refused to allow me to speak with anyone there and after a week and hours of abuse, I filed a BBB complaint to which they replied that they will not address anything that happened. Stripe intentionally engages in deceptive acts.

After I confronted the rep for providing false information multiple times, she refused to help me and left me on chat. I was there for one hour and 1 minute. I ended the chat.

The misinformation and lies by customer service reps have happened more than once, so I decided to request a supervisor call so I could share my experience in being a customer who is often lied to intentionally because its easier than stripe reps researching and answering questions.

Then, when Ann refused to have a supervisor call me, I had to open a ticket.

The abuse then began. Stripe reps kept closing my ticket...The ticket was " Have a supervisor call me"

A supervisor did not call me.

But they closed the ticket.

Over and over. No one called me but my ticket was closed.

They did this so they didn't have to deal with the issue.

Then, when I confronted the stripe representatives for closing tickets and preventing me from reopening them, they replied with responses that made absolutely no sense, simply so they could make it look like the ticket was being worked.

Such as "We understand you want a call from a supervisor and we'd like to help. Waiting on your reply"

This was so they could document on the ticket and put it back to an actionable required by the customer. In other words, so they didn't have to work it and didn't get in trouble for not working it.

This went on for days. and days. and days.

No call, nothing.

It's outrageous.

Then, on January 8 at 5:08 pm ET they said they called me, but that was false. I responded in less than a minute asking for a call, I provided my phone number. Then I opened a chat at 5:16pm ET with a request for a call, and they left me there for 2 hours and 5 minutes and never called.

I was later informed they were 'calling the wrong number' and to that I say HOW???....I provided my number multiple times which is evident in my screenshots and tickets. My phone number is on my account, the ticket had it and it was on the email threads ad nauseam. It was another game.

They played that game for two hours and five minutes via an open chat window that literally could not be closed.

I could not close it and re-request. Stripe just left me there and kept saying you'd call in three minutes. It was honestly maddening.

I sent in multiple screenshots during the 2 hours and five minutes to document it. It was not extended wait times, Stripe reps were refusing me access to customer service to address ongoing issues of Stripe representatives providing misleading information about products including fees, RADAR, DIsputes and Chargeback protection.

These were intentional deceptive acts and punitive made by Stripe employees and Stripe refuses to address the matter.

Stripe DESTROYED my business! RUN AWAY!

I'm beyond furious right now. My accessories and jewelry business has been using Stripe for about half a year. We had a great track record – hundreds of fulfilled orders, happy customers, no problems. Then, out of nowhere, we got hit with three fraudulent chargebacks from the Netherlands for high-value gift cards. We had already shipped the gift cards AND the jewelry purchased with them!

We tried to contact Stripe to explain the situation, but they completely ghosted us. Just out of the blue, they froze our account! Tickets we created were AUTMATICALLY closed without a single response, emails ignored, phone calls impossible to make – we were totally cut off! And to add insult to injury, they froze all our funds without ability to withdraw it!

We're a startup, and having our cash flow suddenly choked like this was damaging to the whole business! The system kept demanding endless "verification" documents, claiming our business was "high risk" – seriously, what's risky about selling jewelry?! Then they started playing this cruel game with our money, promising we could withdraw it "next month," then pushing the date back again and again. It's been months, and we still haven't seen a dime.

Even worse, because our account was frozen, we couldn't even respond to other disputes that popped up later. We had proof of delivery, photos & everything needed to win those cases, but Stripe's system wouldn't let us submit anything! So we lost even more money because of their broken system and their absolute refusal to help.

We lost thousands & thousands of dollars! They've crippled our business, and as I was investigating this situation, I found THOUSANDS of similar cases!
If you're a startup, you're better off using Shopify payments or any other platform but not this scammers. RUN AWAY!

Stay clear at all costs.
I paid myself with 1 card (myself) £1000.00 into stripe

I invoiced from wio on stripe to my cilnet that was present next to me he paid via payment link stripe.

Several days when past stripe said the payments made was no authorised. ( yet we know they was.

Right the game starts. We send email saying they will refund the cards..
2 weeks later £1000.00 goes back in.

Yet the other £23500 nothing you contact support it's AI sending strip back. In the end I was ignored. This when on for near 6 months.

Trip to dubai office again 1 guy in a shoe box took my details told me he couldn't do anything.

10 ish days later money was released into my account. Not returned to card

I've been asked by a company I contract to be set up on stripe so they can pay me. From experience I will never have anything to with stipe. Be warned they are crooks. No interested on the funds they had for 6 months no email to say why it's taken so long.

Stripe supports merchants who sell stolen accounts and cheating clients

Hello,

Why haven't you done anything after more than two weeks about the merchant who is again trying to evade his past Stripe suspensions?

1) It's Premiumalts.com, which is again accepting payments with a new fake website called Noctik.de. You can try to buy a product yourself on Premiumalts.com and then you will see the Noctik logo appear during the payment process. If you pay with Google Pay, you will find this information in the URL code: merchantId: BCR2DN6TTPFNZQ3W and merchantName: NocTik UG

2) The merchant Alts.zone, which I have often successfully flagged in the past, has also created a new Stripe account. The following information can be found for Google Pay payments: merchantId: 09511744644598700896 and merchantName: altzne

3) The seller spezz.exchange (Stripe Name: SPEZZ EXCHANGE Owner: Valory Abboud Address: 2145 N Josey Lane Ste. 116-304, Carrollton Tex, 75006 Carrollton, US) offers a marketplace for cheating clients for online games and stolen accounts in order to be able to play in these online games again and again with new user accounts. Such a community destroys games and ruins the income of game developers. Why does Stripe support such a seller?

Negligence and disregard for their customers.

Hello.
We are a startup - digital webstore selling activation keys for games for Steam, EA App, Xbox and others.

2 month ago Stripe employees told us that our business activity is high-risked so they couldnt onboard us until we "complete the form on Stripe Dashboard within the next 5 business days to provide more information about our business". And we were ok with that knowing how much fraud exists in this industry. We did all actions required from us and described our activity in details. After that we were told that they are "unable to to accept payments for sales, distribution, or access to licensed materials without the appropriate authirisation from the rights holder, as mentioned in Stripe's Restricted businesses list".
After that we:
- signed an agreement with official distributor of digital game codes;
- got a confirmation letter from official distributor confirming that our company is their trading partner
- provided an inventory we were expecting to sell (several screenshots of official distributor's catalogue, made with his consent)
- Described in details, which products we WILL sell and which categories of products we WON'T sell respectfully to Stripe's Terms and conditions.

And finally, 2 months later we received an email where they told that they "have completed review of the account and all requirements have been satisfied. As a result, account has been REACTIVATED" and that we "can now start processing payments and receiving payouts again". It happened 28 of May 2024.

But what happened next? Same day we received anoher email from Stripe about CLOSURE of our account with SAME requirements as were sent to us 2 months ago in the beginning.

To all our emails with detailed description of our situation we have received similar copy-paste reply - that our account remains closed.

This is disrespect for other people's work and our attempts to meet any demands from Stripe, negligence, disregard for their customers and a senseless waste of 2 months of our time.

We demand an apology for this attitude and reactivation of our account.

UPD: This is a reply to your comment:
No, guys, we dont have any active conversation via email. We just described you our situation. As it is said earlier, we provided all information you required, and after review you already accepted restoring an access to our account. If you blocked us again and asked for SAME information by mistake, then we want you to apologize for careless and negligence of your colleagues and restore an access. We are not going to running in circle wasting time to providing you SAME information multiple times. Its just ridiculous to ask for that.

Merchant repellant gateway

PROS - they respond to support emails within a reasonable time.

CONS - their support chat is incompetent, better email for support.

I had been a merchant at Stripe since 2021 till Feb 2024 and let me tell you with true confidence that this is a gateway provider that enjoys heckling their merchants and arbitrarily closing accounts based vaguely on their rules and when they can't find a specific rule to support their own statements, they fall upon imaginary/made up rules while showing actual rule pages which have no mention of such fictional rules. Since 2021, no less than 5 times was I heckled and my account closed/suspended. Twice I had to change the operation of my business just so that they could "visibly understand" how my business worked and the other 3 times are narrated herein below. My business was of selling digital currency for an old MMORPG game that I hosted for free at my server so the server itself was not a subject of business, it was just that if customers/members wanted xp-boosts, cosmetics and maps, they would have to buy digital currency from my website to be used in-game for items. Their rules don't allow for third party sites selling digital currency but this was not an issue for me as I owned the server on which the game is played, that is clearly listed as an exception in their "restricted businesses" page. They closed my account 3 times for this very reason including the last one thinking that I am a third party selling digital currency when in fact I had established the previous two times that I am not (and then they reopened my account). When I reiterated my stand to them, they suddenly came up with a fictional rule that the stored value of digital currency must not exceed 2000 USD and cited the restricted businesses page ...this is NOWHERE to be seen in the entire page (refer Stripe restricted businesses page ), I would exhibit all through screenshots here but this website does not allow links or attachments. Making an appeal is fruitless because while they assure you of a f air review, their conclusion is an exact copy paste job of the first email that suspends your account.

Dear Stripe, if for some secret reason, you do not wish for a merchant to do business with you, it might be more respectable to simply come out and say "Hey we don't want your business because MEH". You advertise yourself as a leading gateway provider for small and big businesses yet for no good reasons heckle and shut down accounts in an arbitrary fashion and that too without a notice period so that the merchant may transition to another gateway without facing much loss. Please don't believe if they respond to this review with "please reach out to heretohelp "at" stripe" because I have done that and its just the same team that closed the account in the first place.

Hi Gaurav, we're incredibly sorry the experience has been less than positive here and that's definitely not what we aim for. There are a number of reasons why a Stripe account may become unsupportable. For instance, we’re unable to support businesses that are deemed high-risk or account with a high dispute rate. We'd like to take a second look at your account and support case to see what we can do to help. Please email us directly at heretohelp@stripe.com as soon as possible so we can get started.

STRIPE IS AN UNEQUIVOCAL SCAM

Absolute Scam.

Fast to onboard your account. Expect that you'll be able to successfully process a small test charge to assuage your concern.

Then, when you start charging substantial sums the reverification game kicks in.

Spent over a business day with CS agents who's English is at times incoherent. Further, was told by many different agents, "Everything has been received and reverified - you will get your payout in two days"

After all of that I got an email advising me that my bank account is, incredibly, in unverified status and that's going to take 48 hours to verify - even though I verified everything last year.

Right now these scammers are sitting on a bunch of money paid by my customer. After reading so many reviews I'm kind of resigned to the fact that I'm going to have to hire an attorney and bring Stripe to arbitration. Fortunately, my customer is my friend and he'll testify in an arbitration proceeding. I suspect we'll beat Stripe and they'll end up paying my legal fees. Nonethless, what a waste of time and fronted money.

If you want to read some other horror stories - check out the BBB complaints on Stripe - these guys run ripshod over smal businesses and leave a trail of destruction in their path.

No thanks - I don't want to email your heretohelp email address for support. I'd rather pick up after a dog with IBS than waste more time that I'll never get back.

I spoke with a staffer in the House Financial Services Committee today and we reviewed some of the complaints. They were shocked at the pattern behavior and escalated our discussion to be reviewed further within the department.

Update: My info was verified overnight, but today they moved my payout to next week. Not expecting to get paid by them next week and instead of going to arbitration I am prepared to fork over about a thousand dollars out of my checking account to cover the credit card charge stripe assessed. Yes, you read that correctly - to make this go away I might have to pay over a thousand dollars so I can refund my customer. Compared to some of the other complaints about having hundreds of thousands of dollars held indefinitely I consider a relatively cheap lesson. Fortunately, Stripe won't destroy my business, like they have done to countless others. Stripe evolved into a dystopian Orwellian monster that you should avoid at all costs.

Disappointing Payout Delays with Stripe

Disappointing Payout Delays with Stripe

I'm compelled to share my frustrating experience with Stripe's payout times, and unfortunately, it's not a glowing review. I've been using Stripe for payment processing, and the delays in receiving payouts have become a significant headache.

The promised seamless and quick payout system seems to be a far cry from reality. Transactions that should be straightforward end up trapped in a seemingly endless limbo, leaving me, as a user, in the dark about when to expect my funds.

The lack of transparency in communicating these delays is particularly disheartening. While Stripe boasts about simplicity and efficiency, the reality is a waiting game that feels more like a guessing game. Customer support, unfortunately, hasn't provided the clarity or solutions I was hoping for.

This isn't just about a minor inconvenience; it impacts the cash flow of businesses relying on timely payments. It's disappointing that a platform widely used for its payment processing efficiency falls short on this crucial aspect.

In summary, if you're considering Stripe for your payment needs, be wary of the potential frustrations tied to payout delays. It's been a disheartening experience, and I'm seriously considering exploring alternative options.

They steal your hard earned money

Used stripe for my game website and they claimed a fraudulent card was used. However, on my dashboard it didn't show any chargebacks. Stripe refunded $50,000 of my profits to the players and no one contacted me about it. No one answers a phone, chat, or email. Stay the hell away from this company!

We have used the normal big-name…

We have used the normal big-name companies you would know about for transactions and to be honest, Stripe has been the best of the bunch technically... that is, until we needed support on a transaction.

A customer paid the wrong amount (by a massive amount!), and we needed to deal with the issue. The person on chat wasn't that knowledgeable and had to refer back to me.

I was looking for assistance which I never received and then when I expressed being less than happy (in a polite way) and asked to lodge a complaint suddenly there were "connection issues" so I could no longer continue the chat.

The problem is not sorted, I am now irate as a result and I still have a nightmare to deal with.

Long story short it's a game of chance if you need support from Stripe so take that into consideration when evaluating their services.

UPDATE
I emailed Stripe as requested in their response and was hoping that this would be the pathway to getting the swift resolution I needed. They emailed back the same day but then total and absolute radio silence. Ghosted as some might say. No response whatsoever. It appears that it was just a bit of a PR exercise on this site. The issue still remains but has now worsened as predicted because of Stripe's inactions and failure to communicate. My perspective on this company remains a dire one.

Second Update
It appears that Stripe are a vindictive company. Following our complaint which was resolved by Stripe stepping up and offering a goodwill gesture (which I am grateful for), they have now decided to put a hold on our account with £1000's in limbo. You really couldn't make this up. Obviously, our complaint got someone's back up and now we are being treated like a bad smell at a dinner party.
