I really appreciate how easy the rebooking process was and they had really good offers for rebooking as well. Yilin was really helpful in answering all my questions. Overall i think Hollis Croft is the best student accommodation in Sheffield.

We got a 24-7-365 reception, with a lot of friendly numbers of staff to help students anytime they need. (Including the Christmas and Easter holiday)
we got a lot of activity around the years to help students get to know each other better.

Mealmarket, Aberdeen. Staff are amazing dont get me wrong but student roost was misleading at best in this occasion. No mention before booking that theres construction, edit: booking was finalised in june but email about construction was sent in august (with moving in on september). £100 off of near £6000 in rent and £1000 parking just to be moved to another location and a £50 voucher back. Construction has caused wood chippings in my room, unbearable noise in the morning with drilling and workers ripping out my wall by my window (note its exam time and i physically cant study even with noise cancelling headphones in) my wall is now exposed to outside due to the construction in the form of a crack by the window. And so much dust from outside construction i need to constantly wipe everything down and ive got constant blocked noses/allergies.
Privacy film since february has caused no sunlight in my room. Construction ongoing since october/november time.
Again for this, £100 off £6000. £50 amazon voucher for £1000.
Barely any compensation for massive inconvenience.

Currently staying at The Oaks in Coventry and just wanted to say Billy (from the maintenance team) is a legend! Whether it’s making repairs in my room or in my kitchen he’s always happy to help! Not to mention he’s incredibly friendly and will always stop to say hello whenever he sees me around the property. He goes above and beyond for repairs he doesn’t even have to make; he saw me struggling with the chain on my bike a coupe of days ago as I was leaving to go out, and he went out of his way to fix it for me! Thank you Billy!

I’m reporting a troubling experience with this accommodation that fell far short of reasonable expectations and basic hospitality standards.
- Oven broken and not fixed: I was told to rely on a microwave for two days, which is unacceptable for any stay—especially longer visits.
- Freezer issues: No drawers or broken ones, and I was given just one replacement drawer. Storage was clearly insufficient and poorly managed.
- Movie Mondays promise unfulfilled: We visited three weeks in a row with no film shown. When we asked, staff said they were still selecting a film, and the next day the event sign disappeared. False promises and lack of follow-through.
- Delayed bus passes: We were told we’d receive free bus passes for the academic year, but they arrived three months late, causing me to miss three months of free travel. They also did not advise well how it was only given to people with a long tendency agreement eg. 44+ weeks.
- Rude reception staff: The front desk team were consistently rude or seemed fed up when answering questions. It’s understandable to have off days, but the continual attitude was unprofessional and disrespectful.
- Kitchen issue due to flatmate- upon returning from Christmas break with a moldy, fly-ridden kitchen. I couldn’t even eat in the kitchen for a week. When I reported it, I was told there would be an inspection and was informed they would pull that flatmate aside and have a conversation. When the inspection was made we were all be told off instead with no real solution. In the end, I was pressured to clean the kitchen within 48 hours to avoid a fine, even though the mess was not mine. This was disrespectful and unfair. There was no professional conduct during this time and i was deeply disappointed.
- Overall impression: The place is the cheapest option, but the negative experiences far outweigh any savings. I regret not researching more beforehand. The accommodation failed to provide basic amenities, reliable services, and respectful staff.
Final verdict: This stay was disappointing on every level, from maintenance to management and customer service. I wouldn’t recommend this property to others.

Honestly the place is pretty good. I have a bronze room and it’s the perfect size, the staff are absolutely amazing and friendly, the only reasons I’d say it’s not the best is because washing is so damn expensive and it might just be my flat but the oven was broken, so was the hob, the boiler door was broken and my shower needed a lot of work.
