A* Service from sales to installation
I contacted sunsave unsure about what they could offer us. Obed in sales knew the product and service inside out and could confidently outline the savings, and benefits making the decision to go ahead easy. Mo, out installation managers communication has been impeccable, he has assisted us through every step of our installation, up through to getting our export tariff set up.
The Installation guys at HeronElec were two of the most polite and competent people we could have asked for, they professionally got the job done with minimal disturbance and kept everything tidy and presentable.
The whole experience has been fantastic from start to finish and I would highly recommend to anyone who is interested in saving money and doing their bit for the environment.

Very smooth process
Very smooth process from start to finish. Quality of installation is high and our solar panels are working great. Good service, would recommend.
Only critique is that communication about when scaffolding was going up and down could have been clearer, maybe via a reminder the day before.
Additionally, the battery used is quite ugly, would have preferred a wall mounted system.

Trust the process (& the maths), it works!
I approached SunSave after receiving info from Hive & British Gas. I was sent all the information to digest over the phone & via email. There was no pushy salesman techniques or upselling. I actually requested a requote with a larger battery to futureproof the system. I worked out the maths, couldn't believe the way the numbers stacked up, so had them checked by 2 others & it was correct. Once I'd agreed, the survey was very comprehensive & the paperwork arrived in a timely manner. The install went exceptionally well, took 1.5 days & the guys were tidy & lovely. I've been (obsessively) monitoring via the apps, even on manky January days I'm only using tiny bits of mains electric during peak hours. I've wanted Solar for ages, the upfront cost was not an option for me, I recommend this way & this company, it's been so straightforward!

Be Warned
I started speaking with Sunsave early Nov 2025 and spoke with Sue. I also got a quote from HomeTree. I was comparing the two and wanted to make sure I got the best deal and asked questions. Sue told me that going with HomeTree is a bad idea and it will be a nightmare to sell my house and that roof leases are a scam. It’s been several months of trying to get factual information out of them but they still can’t back up their allegations. After several calls, emails and lack of responses, I called one last time today and said I didn’t want to speak with Sue as she doesn’t respond or gives excuses - off sick or being “super busy with Black Friday”!!! I spoke with somebody else today who told me that they have done a lot of research on HomeTree and then proceeded to confidently tell me that I shouldn’t go with HomeTree as the interest rate will increase over the years and I won’t be able to sell my home!!!! THERE IS NO INTEREST, just a 2.5% annual increase which is all set out in the contract! Yes, I will be able to sell my home. why would Barclays, one of the biggest mortgage providers in the UK, put in £300m to back them if they couldn’t sell their homes?.From my research, Sunsave is more expensive to start out, has higher monthly payments and HAS INTEREST!, you also have to pay for maintenance call-outs. After telling them about Hometree, it’s like they switch what their saying to scare tactics.

It’s your choice who you go with, and you should do what you feel is best for you and your home. Affordability is the biggest blocker to more widespread solar adoption, and we’re pleased to see others offer long-term finance, so that more UK households can benefit from energy bill savings.
However, as we outlined on our calls with you, we’re confident that for many people Sunsave Plus is a better fit, and we’re happy to explain why:
1. Hometree is a lease, meaning you don’t own the system. We apologise for calling it a ‘roof lease’ at first. But the fact is, the system isn't yours, and there are restrictions to what you can do with it. With Sunsave Plus you own your system outright from day one.
It’s true that leases shouldn't make it impossible to sell your home, but they do introduce complexity. Taking out a lease adds a charge to the land registry on your home, and some mortgage lenders don’t like these or aren’t familiar with them. You might not encounter these issues, but it’s a potential risk.
As Hometree owns the equipment, if you modify or damage it, or in any way breach the contract, you’ll be liable to penalty charges.
2. As Hometree’s offering is a hire agreement, interest isn’t shown in your quote, but the cost of financing is still baked in, which is where the confusion may have come from. Your payments increase 2.5% every year with Hometree, but with Sunsave Plus they’re fixed.
3. Hometree will repair your kit if something stops working, but we go one step further and make sure it’s always performing. For example, we provide a free battery upgrade when it starts performing below 70% of its original usable capacity. This ensures you continue getting the best out of your system. Replacing a battery costs £3,000-£7,000, depending on size.
4. Our Virtual Power Plant helps optimise your system to maximise your savings. With Hometree, you’re on your own unless something breaks.

Poor customer service after install
Sunsave recommended an outside install but never told me the batteries wouldn't work in cold weather so now sat paying full price for electric till the weather warms up cause they didn't install batteries with a warm up feature spoke to Adda who put the phone down on me and now won't answer THE CUSTOMER SERVICE YOU GET ONCE THE SYSTEM IS INSTALLED IS A DISGRACE. I appreciate the reply but Sunsave still withheld information that the system wouldn't work in cold weather like i said I would not have agreed to an outside installation had I been given this information

We’ve been in touch with you since you posted this review, but wanted to address the points here too. We’re really sorry our service hasn’t been what you expected. We account for batteries performing differently in really cold or hot weather in our savings modelling, and we mention those assumptions in every proposal.
Your system is currently on track to perform in line with what’s in your proposal, if not better, even with these temporary expected drops in performance. When the weather warms up, your battery will return to normal, and we’ll keep a close eye on the system to make sure everything’s working as expected.
We also record every call with customers for training purposes, and our records show that no-one has hung up on you at any point. We pride ourselves on customer service, and we hope that the care we’ve taken to address your concerns shows that.
Awesome Solar and Battery Installation
Stumbled across Sunsave whilst just browsing Solar as wanted to have solar for years but never got round to properly looking into it.
Fully read through the details on website then arranged a date for a video call after talking on the phone. The video call went really well eith Nick and all my questions were answered which were indepth so we went ahead with the installation.
We went for the quoted 6 Trina Solar panels - 450W, Fox ESS 3.68kW Inverter with the Fox ESS 8.64kh battery 🔋 storage.
Scaffolding was erected a couple of weeks before and then both the roofer and the electrician both turned up to start work on 27th November. I can say both the roofer and the electrician who seemed to know each other as worked on other installations and were so great.
All works were completed at a very high standard as I would expect. The roofer completed the install of thd panels snd left Jamie to connect up.
Jamie the electrian then walked me through the installation and then finally set up the Fox ESS App and set me up as a user.
Unfortunately can't export any excess as yet as need to await our smart meter install which is booked in for 16th January with Octopus. Will then jump on the intelligent Octopus 🐙 Flux to start exporting and to also join Sunsave Virtual plant for that extra ££
I can honestly say I was very critical at going Solar as not knowing who to trust in the industry however Sunsave have come through as honest, trustworthy and the contractors were excellent too.
I will be passing on referrals to whome ever asks for advice in wanting Solar and battery. A big thank you to the whole team at Sunsave, lets see how the next 20 years go on.......

Great experience from start to finish
Great experience from start to finish. When I asked for a quote they provided this very quickly but then left the info with me to consider, no pushy salesperson, no I’ll speak to my manager and see if you sign today we can offer blah blah. This immediately gave me confidence
Once we signed up we were contacted by an installation manager who was always accessible and up front, answered any questions we had and is still in touch post install to make sure we’re making the most of our system
Installation team were all professional and took a little longer than expected. However I think the distances of wiring was more than the team initially thought, despite having photos and virtual pictures until the team were at our house they weren’t to know this.
Unfortunately the first install day didn’t start till 1530, maybe due to a previous job? and over-ran by half a day, but the install manager took this on board and the install team were apologetic and arranged to come back to finish within a few days so did all the could to alleviate the inconvenience
Since install I have been pleased by the solar system purchased and is producing roughly what was expected but it’s early days and was only installed in Nov with limited sunlight
Clearly there are cheaper options by purchasing outright elsewhere, but for me the maintenance contract and minimal up front cost sold it for me
In short I would recommend Sunsave if you are wanting to start using solar, want support from start to finish and don’t want the initial outlay

Great overall experience
After a few very early teething issues, it's been. a great process and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sunsave.
In the very beginning, the process was a little rushed and we were misinformed about where the system could go on our property, but Pippa Graves stepped in and has walked us through the whole process with no issue whatsoever.
The install process was good, it was quicker both in start date and the time spent here than was expected and here we are all before Christmas and everything is up and running, including the exporting of solar back to the grid, which can take a few weeks to put in place.

Excellent experience
The support from start to installation (and post-installation) has been excellent. The salesperson explained everything clearly and I didn't feel under pressure at all to sign up, which, I think, goes to show the confidence Sunsave have in their product.
The only improvement I can think of is we could have done with more proactive support in understanding and getting through the planning process since our installation needed permission (most won't, I believe). However, Sunsave went above and beyond by contributing to the cost of the surveys needed.
When it came to organising and scheduling the installation, that was all very smooth. And the contractors Sunsave chose for the scaffolding and panel installation were so professional and friendly, which we know from recent experience can't be taken for granted.
Sophie, who guided us through the process, was lovely to deal with. Very competent and patient and understood when it was better to email instead of call.
Would totally recommend Sunsave for 1. the way they make solar panels affordable and 2. the service you receive from the whole team, including the contractors.
