Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the pricing and payment practices, frequently citing unexpected and high charges for appointments, even for initial consultations or sessions where no substantial care was provided. Reviewers often felt overcharged, with some receiving bills far exceeding initial expectations or advertised costs, leading to frustration and financial strain. Some people were dissatisfied with the customer service, describing it as unhelpful, unresponsive, and difficult to get clear answers from, particularly regarding billing issues. There were also instances where customers felt the service was unreliable and poorly managed, with issues like dropped calls and lack of assistance when needed. However, a portion of people were satisfied with the staff and service, praising their providers as caring, professional, and effective in their treatment. These customers appreciated the convenience and the positive impact their doctors had on their mental health.

What a joke. Turns out, if you actually need anything, you have to see a psychiatrist in-person. This is no different than those online minoxidil or glp-1 factories. I'm honestly disgusted. One questi... See more

Run do NOT use this company

I went on to see what the cost would be for me. Without me confirming they scheduled an appt, it took over 30 min and 3 calls to get it cancelled. Your AI is horrible, then I got transferred to Juan who refused to help me unless I gave him all my information. Even more than you ask on the website, then he disconnected the call. Juan needs to lose his job. I would NEVER and I mean NEVER recommend your company. It is shady from the beginning. Great job stressing people out with what you are " supposed " to be helping with.

Unethical Practice

I waited over a week for an ADHD evaluation through Talkiatry, only to walk away feeling completely dismissed and honestly exploited. I spent an entire hour being vulnerable — talking about my trauma history, sexual assault, mood symptoms, and long-term mental health struggles — just to be told at the very end that they “don’t treat individuals who are currently suicidal or chronically suicidal,” even though I never said I was chronically suicidal. I described intermittent ideation over the years, which is a reality for many people seeking mental-health care.

On top of that, I disclosed at the very beginning that I have a medical marijuana card. If that alone disqualified me from treatment, the clinician should have said so immediately. Instead, she continued the full evaluation, asked every deeply personal question, and then informed me that Talkiatry doesn’t treat people with medical marijuana cards. That policy was never advertised anywhere. It felt like my time, energy, and emotional labor were taken advantage of for a session they knew they wouldn’t continue.

The entire experience felt invalidating, unprofessional, and frankly unethical. If these are Talkiatry’s exclusion criteria, they should be transparent upfront instead of putting clients through painful disclosures for no reason. I would never recommend them based on this experience.

Pleasantly surprised!

What I initially hoped would be a simple diagnostic appointment has turned into ongoing support and monitoring to maintain or improve my care plan! I am so grateful for a consistent provider and genuine, thoughtful care!

Talkiatry has proven to be very well…

Talkiatry has proven to be very well managed. My Dr., Dr. Jamison, is a delightful doctor, and we talk on a monthly basis. She's very intelligent, and compassionate. She's genuinely interested in me and my family, and I feel we have a very good relationship.

If I could give them a negative star I…

If I could give them a negative star I would. The Dr that we have been working with for our son is a joke. There is no office to call. Messages to Dr are not answered. On patient portal you can only send non urgent messages and if you call them there is a language barrier. Our pharmacy has had issues with trying to figure out scripts that are sent and they can not reach the Dr.

Absolutely awful!!

Absolutely awful!!! I had to cancel as I was out of town on a family matter. I cancelled more than the 24 hours and they wanted to charge me $100. I’ve never even had an appointment with them. Needless to say I will never have an appointment with them. They call this therapy, if you can’t understand there are emergencies that happen in life I don’t have faith they can deliver healthy healing therapy

A great alternative to expensive psychiatry. My doctor has been a good listener, and a great communicator and processes everything I need to conduct a bump-free life.

The talk is probing and compassionate and the pharmaceutical refill process has been flawless.

Talkiatry is terrible!!!!!!!

Talkiatry is a terrible business to get involved with. If you’re trying to decide to use them, go somewhere else. I’m stuck with this huge bill to pay off because of them and I’m done trying. I told them I’m done with them. They like to charge you for everything. They add on things onto your bill from your appointment without communicating it. They are quick to charge $100 if you reschedule or cancel but yet the doctor didn’t show up to my last appointment with no communication. Please go elsewhere so you can get care. This company is just there to make money off you. They don’t care about your mental health.

This is a very innovative approach for…

This is a very innovative approach for mental Healthcare. The role of the Psychiatrist is very different from the typical model for care.

You have an interactive relationship with the Physician who listens, asks questions and through two way conversations, you discuss and arrive jointly at the best options for getting better.
There is a separate option for doing therapy with a Psychologist.
In this venue, the Psychiatrist is there with you throughout the process. They get to know you personally. DR. SANTOS also calls me to see how the medication is working and any side effects. She is not just a person who gives you a medication and you wait to talk at your next appointment. She is proactive!

Talkiatry - Bad therapy, Worse Billing

Talkiatry is one of the worst platforms I’ve ever encountered. Their billing is chaotic and feels predatory, with zero transparency. Communication is practically nonexistent. Getting a clear answer is impossible. Customer service? Utterly incompetent. And when you actually need help, the support is lackluster at best.
The therapy support is even worse. It’s unreliable, poorly managed, and offers no real assistance when you’re in need. I tried multiple providers to see if the problem was isolated, but it’s not. This platform is designed to frustrate and exploit users rather than help them.
Do yourself a favor: never use this site.

Avoid

The user experience is so dated and they make it impossible to find support contact information. I provided my insurance information at signup and have never had a platform seemingly ignore that and recommend a provider who did not accept my insurance. I highly recommend Lavender over ever using Talkiatry again.

Extremely overpriced and misleading

I was under the impression that my initial meeting was a free consultation to determine whether the practice was a good fit for me. Instead, my insurance was billed $307 for what the statement describes as a discussion about medication and selecting the right program for me. None of those topics were discussed. The appointment consisted of basic intake questions to determine which doctor I might be matched with, and I was not informed that this would be billed as a paid service.

After that, I had a separate appointment with a therapist. I asked multiple times before the session for the cost of the visit, and no one provided that information until after the appointment. This session was billed at $198.

In total, I was charged $505 for what amounted to a single hour of therapy and a brief intake conversation that I believed was complimentary.

I attempted to speak with someone about these charges, but no one has been willing to address or explain them. This lack of transparency and communication feels extremely concerning and misleading.
