CASEWORKERS WHO NEVER KNOW THE DOG
I registered with this rescue, a year before adopting. A dachsund that I had been searching for, mature in years, eventually came up.
I registered my interest and was contacted by the case worker. She lived in London, Alfie, the dachsund was in kennels in Skegness, the opposite end of the country. I made a 4.5 hour round trip to see Alfie, the kennel owner thought I would be taking him there and then. As soon as I saw him I knew he needed to be in a home, he had been in kennels for many many months. The case worker, who had never even met Alfie painted the worst possible picture, this was due to the rescue having placed him with the wrong adopter for a total off a week!!! I can not understand how a case worker who has never even met a dog, goes on second hand false information, can then find the right home. I have rescued many dogs and with this rescue, I was subjected to constant bardardment, emails, video calls, it was unbelievable!!!
Alfie is now in his forever home, he is loving loyal, he is a rheif, he barks, but that's the breed. I was given so much disinformation about this little man. I had to block the emails, WhatsApp messages and as for the behaviourist, she was just trying to be relevant. Alfie has no behaviour issues, he was given up by people who after having him from a puppy, at 8 years off age, they no longer wanted him because they had a child. This rescue needs to put caseworkers with dogs, that they themselves can assess
Adopted 2 with TRF
I had an amazing experience with The Red Foundation when adopting my two little guys! From the start, they were incredibly helpful, providing all the information I needed before the adoption process even began. They took the time to understand my lifestyle and home environment, ensuring I was matched with the perfect dogs. It was clear they genuinely cared about finding the right fit, and the whole process was smooth and stress-free. I couldn't be happier with my dudes 4 years on, thanks to The Red Foundation's approach!
We have adopted three dogs through Red…
We have adopted three dogs through Red Foundation over the years and have always found them to be supportive, extremely knowledgeable and very thorough in the matching and placement of dogs to homes. Always on hand for adopters to contact should they need to. Thank you Red Foundation!
Kind & caring organisation
Such a wonderful organisation. They supported me throughout the whole adoption experience, addressing my concerns and offering me a behaviourist to help settle my little one in to a new happy life with us. Thank you The Red Foundation!
Dachshund Welfare a Top Priority - Bravo!
We were extremely fortunate to adopt a bonded-pair of beautiful long-haired dachshunds via TRF four years ago and we have maintained our contact and support for the Charity ever since.
The adoption process we experienced was extremely thorough and the dogs' welfare was the top priority, which was incredibly important to us.
Having owned a dachshund for 13 years prior, we know they are not the easiest breed, which makes the matching and vetting process even more important.
We completed a long application form before potential matching took place. We were interviewed by a case worker. We had a long conversation with the previous owner about the dogs, their health and behaviour. Our home and gardens were inspected for appropriateness and safety and we got to meet the dogs before the final decision was made for us to adopt them. The support we received before and post-adoption was excellent and we cannot fault TRF.
Whilst writing I would add that this is an incredible organisation which has rehomed hundreds of dogs, often giving vulnerable animals a second chance in life, when they have faced the most challenging circumstances, through no fault of their own. It is run by volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure the best match between adoptee/adopter and this is no easy task.
Thank you TRF.
Great smooth experience with the team…
Great smooth experience with the team at the red foundation!
They helped us adopt two dachshunds through them, the team was so supportive, personal, answered all my questions and were so helpful.
Even after we adopted pippa and Bruno they checked in and continued to support us with an ear issue Bruno had for treatment and when he had to be neutered.
I highly recommend them, they are only a small charity with many people who need their help to find their dog a new home.
Thank you so much to the red foundation for everything and making our dream happen 🥰
Adopt don’t shop!
Thoroughly caring and professional
Thoroughly caring and professional. The Red Foundation provided outstanding service during the adoption of our two dachshunds from the initial matching and paying for health checks through to ongoing support. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone want to adopt a dachshund.
Molly X
We adopted Molly on 04/09/22, she was a very vulnerable little fury lady who had a very sad start to life but with love and care from TRF and our family she is now a along with Apollo her fury brother the heartbeat of our home,if you are interested in Molly,s story you can see it on TRF,s "TIKTOK" page.
The Red Foundation
I can honestly say that TRF have changed my life for the better, I was in a very dark place, and I had registered with TRF in November 2017 and in April 2018 I got a call from a lovely lady called Sharon, she asked would I be interested in a bonded pair (father and daughter) that was just the start in November we took on another little girl the following year we again adopted another RF dog so we had 4 dachshunds, the people that work behind the scenes are amazing and they do this on top of their full time jobs. So I thank them wholeheartedly, and would recommend them with confidence. Thank you
Supportive experience adopting our new fur baby

We can’t thank them enough, as life without our two beautiful dachshunds is now unimaginable. Thank you Red Foundation! ❤️🐾🌭
With you every step of the way
With you every step of the way. We had our little chap 5 years ago and still support the fantastic work the volunteers at the Foundation do. Keep going, you change lives.
The red foundation were brilliant in providing long term support
The red foundation were brilliant in supporting me following the sudden lost of my husband with our adopted dashound. It may be 2 yrs since he passed away but the red foundation are always there for any queries I have.
For the love of dachshund’s
The Red Foundation have been amazing to us, if it weren’t for them we wouldn’t have found our bonded pair Oscar & George. They were in urgent need of being re-homed, so we made the journey all the way up to Newcastle and back from Bristol. We went through a well established process and felt supported with everything. Both of ours have separation anxiety and we were advised on how to best support them. They now sleep through the night in their crate and can be left for up to 4 hours during the day. We have spent lots of time and effort in helping them settle with the support and guidance of TRF. My husband often jokes, he should have read the small print with how much the bark though! lol. We are coming up to our 3rd year and couldn’t imagine life without them. Thankyou to this amazing charity and the volunteers for everything they do.
Dachshund Rescue at its Best!
I fostered then adopted a troubled dachshund from this foundation and had full support from them.Nothing was too much trouble ,any time of day or night. They are underfunded & overworked, with so many people wanting to hand in dachshunds at the moment.
They are an excellent group of people.
We registered with The Red Foundation…
We registered with The Red Foundation and after the various normal checks, didn’t have to wait long before we adopted Lila, she is the sweetest little girl. They kept in regular contact to make sure everything was ok with Lila and ourselves. I cannot thank them enough for the work they do to help these little ones.
Perfect organisation
Perfect organisation! Always two way communication, always follow ups with any adoptions no matter how long it’s been. Even there for support weeks or longer down the line. Not to mention the welcome package we received for our latest. And they work sooooo hard!!

We fostered a dog as an emergency and were delighted to become one of their foster failures!! 5 years later, it is an absolute pleasure to be part of the Red Foundation family and so reassuring to know they’re just at the end of the phone for help or advise. Fabulous staff who always put the dogs first.
