It's a great resume; the problem lies in having to adjust it for every specific job, ensuring keywords match. Patti did a great job, though.

Absolutely REGRET going with TopStack! Buyer BEWARE. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED. I wish I had gone with my first choice, which was more expensive; however, it was voted the best resume writer.
Sincerely,
Deeply Disappointed

Immensely disappointed to find out my investments was generated by AI and not actually by a real Writer.
I ran my documents through an AI detector and it flagged the entire document. Not a single element was original.

Appreciate the professionalism and expediency with which resume writing was handled. Many of the aspects really like about the service, including not having to pay right away. Liked the communication with writer and ways to improve. Thank you.

I spoke to my resume writer to explain my situation. She was great! She listened to everything I said, understood where I was coming from and what I wanted to find. She didn’t rush me. I had my first draft within a day and my cover letter draft the next day. No revisions were needed, she nailed it. She was professional and explained how things work today when job hunting. I value my time with her greatly. If all writers are like mine, I highly recommend this company!

$3,450 later: 23 total applications, AI hallucinations, and zero interviews.
I have paid TopStack $3,450 over three months ($1,150/mo) for their "Apply for Me" service, and the ROI has been non-existent. My experience has been a cycle of wasted time, technical errors, and no results.
The primary reason for my low application volume (only 23 total in 90 days) is TopStack’s inability to provide a competent advisor from the start. I was reassigned to three different advisors due to a lack of professionalism and recurring errors from the first two. Every time a new advisor took over, the momentum died. I was forced to start over repeatedly, while TopStack continued to bill me full price for a stagnant process.
At one point I had a friend who is a hiring manager review the work that TopStack had done and they told me that the resume formatting provided by the first two advisors likely caused my applications to be rejected by ATS systems. I spent months applying with "professional" documents that were structurally flawed.
Their AI-generated cover letters are dangerously inaccurate. One version claimed I had "500 software deployments" when my actual experience is in social event management (weddings, grand openings, corporate parties). Sending these to employers would have destroyed my professional credibility.
I was averaging fewer than two applications per week. At one point I had noticed that a few jobs I asked my advisor (Nancy) to apply for had still not been submitted 10 days later. They blamed me for their mistake saying that a minor spreadsheet reordering (less than 40 rows) caused them to miss those. We're not talking about sheets of data. A professional should be able to see blank cells within 40 rows of data that only has a handful of columns. Why blame the customer for their mistake?
Despite paying a premium for an application service, I was told I had to handle all "EasyApply" listings myself. Why am I paying $1,150 a month to do the labor they are supposed to provide?
Out of the 23 applications they submitted and the 13 I did myself, I have received zero formal interview requests. Keep in mind that I am not working right now and to waste $3,500 for such minimal results is really disheartening.
I will say that Wynter has been excellent to work with but she is picking up the pieces three months into this ordeal and doing the best she can. However, the previous advisors Nancy and Derek were a disaster working with them.
Chanelle who is the Head of Resume Writing was nice enough to give me a couple of extensions during the reassignments, however she refused to refund me even though she's aware of this entire history I've experienced with TopStack. Very disappointing experience overall.
So you know my background and who they are searching for, I have a B.S. in Business Management and certifications that include PMP, CompTIA Project+, PSM, CCSM, Jira, Salesforce, and Gainsight.
Since my background includes process improvement, my suggestions are:
- Reduce the workload because I've worked with three different advisors and it's clear that they don't have the time necessary.
- Better efficiency and accuracy to reduce rework. This can be done with training on how to create better prompts for AI. The more info that's inputted, the better the results.
- Beyond providing the most recent resume and LinkedIn profile, have the client fill out a detailed description of their actual job duties and what their tasks are throughout the day. For me, it's felt like the advisors really don't know what I did even after meeting with them to discuss that. Perhaps more questions need to be asked, or better notetaking, or a better understanding of how to turn that information into prompts for AI.
- Conducting a line-by-line review of the resume and cover letter in real-time over a conference call would save time by making sure both sides are on the same page.
To be fair, my background is very complex and unique which may have made it harder to tailor the search for me. However, that's fixed with more questions and communication. As my colleague who's a hiring manager said, it's very disappointing to compare the results to the reputation of TopStack.
